I changed from direct to Dish after 14 yrs. with them. Prices kept going up, less programming, freezing genie, outdated equiptment, $8.95 mo. "regional sports fee" (only sport I watch is NASCAR), gift card to switch, a free movie rental monthly & 16! program recordings. I called dtv like they say to do every year, to beg for a reasonable rate. Got disconnected twice, transferred to "correct dept." 3 times & a total of 62 mins. on the phone only to get less channels for $16.00 a month more! EPIX ch. on Dish comes with 120 ch. pkg. Dtv its $6.99 mo. Voice remote....lighted! Since att bought dtv I noticed things going down hill. Just letting me keep the same pkg. @ the same rate would have kept me from having a tech come out to switch equipment, but I'm so glad I did! When I called to cancel dtv the rep couldn't (WOULDN'T!) tell me how much my final bill would be but I was out of contract & the bill BETTER be what I know it should be, although as typical with them, I'm expecting a big surprise, at which point I'll join one of the many class action suits against them. ATT has way over extended & is financially stressed & customers are paying for their greed, as always. I know my rate will go up with Dish after 2 yrs. as well but its worth the switch. I have 2 yrs. rate saving, $300.00 gift card & much better service & equipment! I'M A REAL DISH CUSTOMER & NOT A SOLICITED REVIEWER!
Totally agree with the reviews. I actually had the Hopper 2 prior to my Genie. It still is not close. The Hopper 3 is even better. The Genie is slow, laggy, and freezes a lot. The Hopper 2 for me navigated the menus smoother, faster and with less hiccups. It is just better equipment. Direct TV is years behind updating a new Genie model. Also recently with the new update for Direct TV you lose the ability to remote access the DVR unless you are at home. No access while you are away from home unless you download content before you leave home. Totally a loss.
Very informative video! And I appreciate all the comments. I learned a lot. Thanks! With that said, I’ve been having all sorts of problems with direct tv. Pain the the butt!
I'm getting rid of DTV and going back to dish. have an appointment set for next Tuesday. Thankfully they're including a gift card to pay off the ETF from DTV. We had Dish for years and the Hopper 3. I miss the auto hop and the prime time anytime. I know you said it's "extremely unlikely" to use 5 recordings at once but at least once or twice a week we have timers for shows that overlap so much that not only can I not watch live TV and relegated to DVR, but some of the shows have to be recorded at another time. That's a huge downgrade for someone that had the hopper 3 and foolishly switched to DTV. The 2 year price guarantee is also something we're happy to go back to. I hate the 13th month blues you get from DTV.
We haven't heard too many cases of it sticking regularly, but since it's tech, and tech tends to glitch from time to time, we can't guarantee it won't. Plus, we didn't make it, so, there's that.
No, I have had both. The Genie is slow, and laggy when navigating the menus. The Hopper is not laggy and freezing all the time. Switched back to Dish today.
@@lxhotboy1 yes d tv. And their. Equipment is Dino day trash!!! Dish puts money into their equipment... att dont care they just want money. They dont try to modernize nothing... worst thing ever happened was them to sell to att!!! Dish is a way better option all the way around, and I’m speaking from experience.. making the transition now. As we speak cause d tv got so sorry tired of their billing, and sorry equipment and the fact att bought them!!
To make the Dish even better They will let you have 2 Hoppers on your account so if you want 1 in your RV or 2 in your home. Directv will only let you have 1 Geni on your account so no DVR in the RV.
I had dish 2 years ago loved it but had frontier for internet. Frontier is horrible! Got so upset dropped dish and tried Xfinity. I like Xfinity for internet, but their TV sucks. Moving to tenn in February and I'm going back to dish. Much better on screen format. On Xfinity tried to pause TV on something I was trying to see and it's almost impossible. TV jumps 4 or 5 frames forward each time so you can't stop where you want. Tried for five minutes to get it to stop where I wanted. I was screaming and yelling like crazy. I finally gave up.What idiot would design something like that? But I think they all are entirely to expensive.
Correction: The Hopper is $15/month, not $5/month as stated on this video. I know this because I just paid my Dish bill today and I used to work for Dish in technical support.
I used to have dish network but my price was up and i lost channels i switched to DIRECTV got HBO price was low and more channels that why i deslike dish network and also spectrum TWC price high with spectrum had it also 1 month
Today is June 13 2019 , I called them yesterday to come back and get this lagging, Freezing piece of crap out of my house , Glad I still have the old box
Yea but dish hasn't had HBO or cinemax for the last two months and that's the longest it has been ever been hopefully they work out an agreement... Yes it matters
Yeah well learn the facts behind it... at&t bought out time warner which owned HBO//Cinemax therefore they stripped the promotions from dish first then took HBO completely away to get more customers to directv since we all know AT&T’ owns directv now. So those who go to directv get a year of an extremely discount price and then your 2nd it goes to full price 🤷♀️🤷♀️ and if HBO is your deciding factor on your tv provider that’s sad. I’d rather have a company that provides excellent customer service and has fair prices for their packages, there’s alternative ways to get HBO besides having it from your tv provider 💅
And u sir are wrong!!! And very. Funny!!! D t v sucks!!! And so does their equipment... and the sorry att company that bought them!!! Who needs HBO. That’s why u have apps for movies sonny boi... lol geez dood really... lol
I had the direct.v Genie 2 until I got dish installed back on Saturday April 16th this year.
I now have the hopper and joey’s I Love dish!! 🤗🤗🤗

Don't dish is no good DirecTV the best!
Yep dish way better service and equip!!
This has also been my experience with Direct TV.
Which has more 4K options?
Does the hopper stick at times like the Genie 2 does?
We haven't heard too many cases of it sticking regularly, but since it's tech, and tech tends to glitch from time to time, we can't guarantee it won't.
Plus, we didn't make it, so, there's that.
The hopper is 3x faster than the genie so I wouldn’t think so

Does dish require multiple dishes to be mounted outside like the old days? I heard that was the case.
No. I changed to Dish just yesterday. One dish, 3 tv's. Much better than Dtv!

Directv picture quality is much better than dish
I moved from Directv to dish and picture quality suck 😢
You don’t get to use 2tb of dish storage.
My Q&A For Dish And DirecTV 1 Internet And Phone Service DirecTV Because They Got Partners With AT&T In 2015

You're the man, Larry. Thanks for catching the error.
@@ReviewsOrg On their website is says $10 a month
Larry Shackle according to Dish website its $10/month
DirecTV better ! !
It’s 10/month now and 5/month for each Joey

Michelle Amos Couldn’t say it better myself
... or you could just subscribe to HBO Now at the same price that you would have gotten it through DISH? Not a deal breaker, at all.
@@Michelle9Amos3 yessss u are so right girl!!!!
Genie is 800 hours now. Pow!
That's a whole lot of genie time! Record away, my friend.
Not exactly....the video is correct. Your number is not for HD recordings.
