I just love the implications of this scene. They're exploring the apartment, but they can't understand the human elements like the books and ornaments because they're generated. But my favorite little moment is when CLU goes to pick up one of the little puzzles on the mantle. He hovers over the gold one, which reflects his own identity (gold lines run through his suit) before picking up the silver one, the color of the Users. He wants to identify with his creator but he never can because he's not human. I just love the hesitation and the anger that follows when he sees his reflection in the silver apple, again reminding CLU who he really is.
The apple yes. But when he looked at the Bits he wasn’t seeing his reflection. In Tron, a bit was CLU’s partner on his missions. Not the same CLU though.

Even though the Creature also came to despise Victor Frankenstein, the book is thick with hints and suggestions that the Creature still respects him, particularly in the chapter where the Creature confronts Frankenstein on the ice. He remembers his creation and what he was designed to do. CLU was created to make the perfect system and out of Flynn's arrogance. So once the Isos appeared CLU saw them as an imperfection because he was literally created with a plan in mind. But Flynn embraced them so for CLU, it appears that his user is becoming an imperfection. (Remember, in this universe a program's user is the most important thing to them.) So CLU did what he was created to do, and turned on Flynn. in the TRON flashback CLU states, "you've been corrupted." Here CLU is remembering his creation and the frustration for having to turn on Flynn. Hence the outburst.
honestly, there was just so biblical about CLU's own flashback. the way the voices echo, the simplicity of the Grid being a blank slate, and Flynn giving a command like a god. Then suddenly all of that Flynn switches and embraces CLU like a friend, "together we're gonna change the world, man." and puts his arm around his shoulder like such a buddy, and they're walking off into the equivalent of a sunset/sunrise. really fantastic sequence. simple, but heavy.
CLU just wanted to create the perfect system, he felt betrayed by Flynn, his own creator, when he sided with the isos over his idea of perfection. He resents Flynn for this.
Things goes like this...clu was designed to create a perfect system, next to flynn, he was his right arm, and he was limited by the programming parameters, maximize the performance, erase the imperfections, he does not think like an evil or sinister mind , he is only kevin before changing his mind, he was comfortable with the relationship with kevin, he never saw it as a goal to be overcome, since he is not human, and in the opinions i saw, youre humanize him a lot, to him it hurts that kevin flin has changed and has deviated from what he believes represent perfection, it is not a situation that he wants, it is not that he seeks to end flyn since it was shown that he could have done flynn easily on the bridge and even more so since it no longer had its disk, his pain is also noticeable when clu recriminates flynn for having broken the promise to build a better world together, he recognized flyn as his superior to recognize to him that he did everything he had ordered, but for continue in his hippie attitude, clu not understand it so flynn not left clu another way to go through, but it's not something that he looks for not a situation that pleases him as I said before it is seen that the rupture with flynn causes him suffering and nuisance. Great character, have it's complexity and great hair of course
Man, this scene is so perfect, Flynn creating his own Ego to grip reality and build the perfect system, Clu seeing his creator in the apple of knowledge, neatly placed between the candlesticks of good and evil, and thus he recognize only his own sickness, high class symbolism at its best! :)
I was thinking about it, clu was basically gonna release his entire army into earth to take it over, I kind of wanted that to be the 3rd movie but I feel like they decided not to
Honestly the cgi face fits great here, mainly because yes CLU is a program, but more than that, he is the FIRST program of this system, while the others were added later on, while technology improved so did the quality of programs, but CLU stayed frozen in time, kind of how Flynn says to him at the end of the movie with this exchange: “The cycles haven’t been kind” “Aw you don’t look so bad!” It would be like comparing the best graphics of the 90s to what passes as meh today. I also love the slight differences in their appearance because Flynn has those human visible imperfections and intentionally or not made CLU without those (CLU has better posture and more hair, as well as a bit more chiseled face)
CLU looks at the apple and remembers his creation.. this is the writer's way of hinting you to understand subconsciously that CLU is representative of Mankind created in God's [Flynn's] image and his instruction to create the perfect world. CLU then represents the religious extremist who seeks perfection to the letter and eventually turns on God which is combining this idea with the idea of SATAN. Sam clearly represents the Son Of God since he is Flynn's actual son created outside of the system [The World]. The ISO's are oddly creative people, savants, gays, and whoever doesn't fit in the system as it was originally planned. In the end Flynn makes a statement on the failed understanding of perfection which is to both condition the viewer to be more accepting of other's and to entertain people already willing to accept the notion leading to greater support for a movie that teaches this view through familiar art\ideas.
I looked at CLU, like those 'read-only' discs I used to use. CLU was mainly given that directive, 'to help Flynn create the perfect system.' The ISO's like Quorra, are imperfect, and to CLU, they are like, a virus when it comes to creating 'the perfect system.'
KingSageMusic In terms of representation: Flynn is God Tron is an Archangel (all of them) CLU is Satan The programs represent Angel's ISO'S represent humanity CLU is resentful of the ISO'S for they take up Flynns time, and his admiration. He feels he is better than them and seeks to purge them of their "perfection". Their destruction represents the embrace of sin, the repurposed programs are demons, and Sam is the incarnation Jesus Christ. Cora represents humanity's redemption
CLU=Luc=Lucifer 'perfect system' means, perfect biological system, evolutionary process. the purpose of evolution, is to create the perfect system. clu represents, the evolved being, resentful of God for having been forced to evolve within the program.
wow, that's good. people pick up on the genius symbolism of this movie and it's so much deeper than they realize, or perceive. there is more symbolism in every detail of this movie than you will probably ever understand. if you understood it all, you would become God. steal his identity disk
gaggle jones technically CLU stands for Codefied Likeness Utility, which makes sense considering his actions and origin in the film. His origin is literally being a clone of Flynn and he was created to administer the system(the utility aspect). His “code”, if you prefer, was to create the perfect system. Of course that directive is and always will be flawed.
CLU is actually a very strong antagonist, you completely understand why he became the way he did and to him is only carrying out what he was programmed to do. You can tell he feels wronged and judging by his last lines to Flynn you can tell part of him still wants that approval, but his anger at how he perceived Flynn to be betraying him is what made him go to far
I will create a perfect system. The grid, I enter the grid. The perfect place. Where I should be. The grid, the answer to the place where I was. Once there is there is no more. The grid. Take me to the realm where I wanna be.
Man. People theorize too much about the apple. I just think that CLU saw his imperfect reflection and went nuts because of it and because he was programmed to only accept perfection.
Look at how Clu's circuit light reflect off of the gold puzzle but not the Silver one thst he picked up. But reflects off of the silver mantle mirror behind him ans he turns around. Great attention to detail.
The face kinda makes sense Other programs are content with their current existence while CLU seeks something...more Perfection In trying to be perfect and spread his so called “perfection, he perverted the grid and himself
Imagine how frustrating CLUE must be, where the only purpose to his existance was to create the perfect system. A system that can never be perfect, and thus, a purpose never able to be achieved.
The film is similar to the story from the Bible as God (Kevin Flynn) created the world, Lucifer (Clu) he was "destroyed", and the throne was therefore Archangel Michael, Flynn's assistant.
The wiki about this safe house says Kevin made it after the Purge. But that wouldn’t explain how Kevin had all of those books from the real world. My theory is that some point after Clu’s creation, Kevin had this safe house built just in case he ever did get trapped and he put all the stuff in there for preparation.
when his father's mirror Clu was made, his father forgot to include one valuable and key bit of information that would've completely changed the storyline. "You Are Clue" "I am Clu" "You Will create the perfect system" "I will create the perfect system" my addition that would've changed it completely: You will never forget that Perfect cannot exist without imperfection
Oh I get it.. clu’s “reflections” He’s reflecting on how he is Kevin Flynn’s reflection after he looked thru a reflective apple. A lot of reflecting going on
The hair looks great, but Clu's expressions don't look quite right, and some of his facial muscles look dead. Needed much more work. Too bad. @Admiral Jab: I don't think Jarvis is an idiot, I think the film is trying to show that he's just never been exposed to human things before, and doesn't know their purpose. At least he shows some curiosity.
Epoxinator Well CLU is a digital copy of a human so that can explain it I guess. Like if you ever do one of those things where you take a picture in the webcam of yourself then they make a person that looks like you digitally but is kinda weird looking, I have no idea what i'm talking about so whatever.
I thought Jarvis was looking at stuff like clu was because he wanted to show he is just as important and just as powerful as Clu and then he knocked the stuff down and clu mentally said "f***ing idiot"
CLU's face was completely CGI for the entire movie. It's not a real human face, that's why it looks so strange. Tbh I feel like it suited the film's plot better that way, since CLU was always just an imperfect reflection of Flynn, flawed and artificial.
"You will create the perfect system" "Please define parameters and acceptable margins that would allow to identify the successful conclusion of this operation. Then delineate possible paths that are to be undertaken to accomplish this process." I mean, what the hell did Flynn expect by giving CLU such a vague instruction? Isn't the guy supposed to be some genius IT guy?

Blocksy10 parkour why does he do that again? Cause he fucked up or what
He remembers his creation and what he was designed to do.

Heh wow
@@yi3515 🧡🧡🧡🧡🖤🖤🖤🖤
Same. I watched Tron this summer and im totally in love with Rinzler for some months now.
I like him, too. He's quiet, skilled, and intimidating.
honestly, there was just so biblical about CLU's own flashback. the way the voices echo, the simplicity of the Grid being a blank slate, and Flynn giving a command like a god.
CLU is constantly reminded of his creator every time he looks at his reflection, a creator who abandoned and betrayed him.
But Clu destroyed the ISO’s which I still don’t understand why he did this, but it’s messed up either way.
I wish Clu would not have destroyed the ISO’s, but then again, all of these things are dangerous ideas as a human being
@@Specialist1Aim well then again they weren't created by Flynn , they were basically free. Clu wanted absolute control.

Honestly, I love this movie so much.
And it really is one of the few movies I’ve ever seen that gets motion capture de aging right. It looks so good
1:40 This scene says a lot
Man, this scene is so perfect, Flynn creating his own Ego to grip reality and build the perfect system, Clu seeing his creator in the apple of knowledge, neatly placed between the candlesticks of good and evil, and thus he recognize only his own sickness, high class symbolism at its best! :)
I was thinking about it, clu was basically gonna release his entire army into earth to take it over, I kind of wanted that to be the 3rd movie but I feel like they decided not to
1:01 This was a legit jump scare when I watched this in the theater
It's not CLU's fault... after all, you can't create the perfect system unless you first control the system.
And the ISOs weren't under any programming, so they were therefore an imperfection.
You can't create a perfect world unless you control it
Sounds like what the world governments are going for
Flynn should've never created and provided that kind of authority to CLU
That shot of them coming up the lift is absolutely exquisite 😍
i love Kevin Flynn’s house in this, i want a place that looks like it but i bet the electrical bill is through the roof
Tell me about it. Be spending like damn near 3 grand if not more a month
Honestly the cgi face fits great here, mainly because yes CLU is a program, but more than that, he is the FIRST program of this system, while the others were added later on, while technology improved so did the quality of programs, but CLU stayed frozen in time, kind of how Flynn says to him at the end of the movie with this exchange:
“The cycles haven’t been kind”
“Aw you don’t look so bad!”
It would be like comparing the best graphics of the 90s to what passes as meh today. I also love the slight differences in their appearance because Flynn has those human visible imperfections and intentionally or not made CLU without those (CLU has better posture and more hair, as well as a bit more chiseled face)
This would make sense if Clu didnt exist in the first movie
I fucking love how silently badass they go up the elevator...
In love with CLU's boots

*Clu.
CLU was mainly given that directive, 'to help Flynn create the perfect system.'
The ISO's like Quorra, are imperfect, and to CLU, they are like, a virus when it comes to creating 'the perfect system.'
KingSageMusic
In terms of representation:
Flynn is God
Tron is an Archangel (all of them)
CLU is Satan
The programs represent Angel's ISO'S represent humanity
CLU is resentful of the ISO'S for they take up Flynns time, and his admiration.
The soundtrack used for this scene is amazing!
It's the only bombastic one too. The one that makes your ears feel thirsty

This is actually such a good scene
he seems so irritated when he looks at the displacement of the cloth upon which his creator once sat. i suppose it's too imperfect for him

The face kinda makes sense
Other programs are content with their current existence while CLU seeks something...more
Perfection
In trying to be perfect and spread his so called “perfection, he perverted the grid and himself
I like how they touch everything carefully because they have absolutely no clue what they are looking at jajaja
Imagine how frustrating CLUE must be, where the only purpose to his existance was to create the perfect system. A system that can never be perfect, and thus, a purpose never able to be achieved.
Crazy how one sentence caused the whole movie
The film is similar to the story from the Bible as God (Kevin Flynn) created the world, Lucifer (Clu) he was "destroyed", and the throne was therefore Archangel Michael, Flynn's assistant.

the thing that was a computer generated copy in the story looked computer generated... let's all go nuts. Still cool af
The wiki about this safe house says Kevin made it after the Purge. But that wouldn’t explain how Kevin had all of those books from the real world. My theory is that some point after Clu’s creation, Kevin had this safe house built just in case he ever did get trapped and he put all the stuff in there for preparation.
1:35 Ryan Higa when he gets the diamond play button
when his father's mirror Clu was made, his father forgot to include one valuable and key bit of information that would've completely changed the storyline.
"You Are Clue" "I am Clu"
"You Will create the perfect system" "I will create the perfect system"
my addition that would've changed it completely: You will never forget that Perfect cannot exist without imperfection
Oh I get it.. clu’s “reflections”

Clu reliving that moment where Flynn said, "We're gonna change the world man" Get peeved off because he was lied too.
Tbh I feel like it suited the film's plot better that way, since CLU was always just an imperfect reflection of Flynn, flawed and artificial.
good point vinnie....and its tough being a Demiurge, we should lighten up on ol' CLU
"You will create the perfect system"
"Please define parameters and acceptable margins that would allow to identify the successful conclusion of this operation. Then delineate possible paths that are to be undertaken to accomplish this process."

Cool, but it's actually a reference to Bit from the first movie but yours could also be applied.
Funny thing about creating "the perfect system" is that people don't really know what that is. Maybe if we had knowledge of thousands of other races throughout the cosmos we could get a better understanding.

We can argue about the results, but de-aging an actor and having him be a major character was EXTREMELY bold for 2010. Plus, within the story of the movie, Clu is a computer program designed to look like a young Jeff Bridges so there is some wiggle room there
