  • Fender '70s Jazz Bass Made in Japan LTD International Color Maui Blue Maple Neck, Test Feb 2024, very comfy neckshape. This feels great to play.
Funk slap style or classic finger style, this bass will cut through the mix. It reminds me a bit on Flea from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
    Please like and subscribe.
Why just limited edition? Very nice color and a really good bass, feels great:
    Some specs:
    Japans craftsmanship
    basswood body
    9.5" radius maple fingerboard
    medium jumbo frets
    '70s slim "U" shape neck
white binding and white pearloid blocks
    "Bullet" style truss rod nut
three-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt™ mechanism
    Vintage Style Pickups
Charles Berthoud told in an interview with Lee from Andertons Music on NAMM 2024 that he doesn't own a Fender Bass. Perhaps this one is agile enough for him.
If you like to go more Marcus Miller style, I recon a bass preamp pedal with bass cut and boost, parametric mid eq. and highs cut and boost. Perhaps MXR Bass Preamp.
The amp was Markbass Little Mark 4 Head all set flat and a Markbass cabinet Traveler 102 P.

Is it the better sound than traditional II 70s Jazz Bass?

I never tried one, sorry. The G-string on this one was a bit too nasal for me. Maybe other strings would help. The G-String often is a bit difficult.

How does it measure up against other j basses youve played?

For me the neck felt very comfortable. Good lacquer, not sticky. I have small hands and it was easy to play. Perhaps this 70s neckshape made it great. The weight felt good, lighter than most Jays I've played but that could be subjective. I haven't played around with the amp's EQ, but I think there are some other very usable sounds hidden in this bass.

I switched from a Geddy Lee signature to this exact one and like it more. The neck is a little thicker towards the higher frets compared to the geddy but I like the sound and feel much better. It's also nice and light
