I love how Bob plays lead guitar in this band, I also love how they start the songs, and you think gee that's a little slow, but by about 1 or 2 minutes and you are rockin out and grooving. Bob Weir’s knowledge of the guitar fretboard is nothing short of incredible. He’s never really flashy with his fills or solos, but he’s always right on the money. It’s a goal of mine to see Bob Weir and Wolf Bros before Bob calls it a career.

Hi Bob, got your Chrome messages thanks I love you. I think this composer thing with your new band is real amazing to watch you and have you been working out your body is looking 45. We've been doing this since I was 20. I'm 50. At this point strange is this appropriate word. Do you remember the man amplified theater in Philly? I was in town for 1week. Guess what I m ungrounded. Massive Grateful Dead fan I loved his Tiny Desk concert, but I can't convince myself that this sounds that good. Maybe it's the live mixing, I'm not sure.
How far did you listen? An astoundingly good He's Gone, but it's more than halfway in. I loved it from the get, but as often happened at shows, it only got better as it went.
@@juzagirlntheroom2692 think the acoustics sound better, but the likes of 'electric' numbers like playing in the band sounded very sparse, with tinny rhythm sound
no, it's just unbelievable bad. And I say that as someone who LOVES Bob Weir and the Dead...this is just cringeworthy :( that Big River was an abortion
Jeff Feller I think its stripped down and mellow. Wouldn’t trade one of my old shows for it ? Of course not, but even the worst of Dead shows were better than anyone else’s, except for a short list, including, and a few others, The Stones and Allman Brothers. At this point, I’m grateful just to see Bob. I’d probably go to see him play a kazoo. But I really started loving this stuff after seeing their Tiny Desk show,
I care Bobby , u were a good friend to me during them times of wrong doing with a few in the Dead , backstage to the little girls & me when I thought I was on a date but realized it was going to b a bang gang ,then the phone rung , u & Philly told me to get my butt up to the party ! Thank u for that !
man, Bobby's channeling McCoy Tyner here BIG TIME. Ya know, in the sense that both him and McCoy were human men who breathed air and ate food. That's pretty much where the similarities stop.
I always have found Bob's comparison of his style to Tyner's hilarious. Weir in his prime was a great and inventive rhythm guitarist, but he and someone like McCoy Tyner are in different universes as far as overall musicianship goes.
Feel so busted up. Had tix to see em 15th Mar but KC cancelled all gatherings bigger than 1000 two days before the show. Keep telling myself people have lost a whole helluva lot more over the damned virus than a show. Tix supposed to be good in October. Sanitized, and scrubbed little fingers crossed.
I REALLY hope you get to redeem that ticket you got soon!! October is coming up! But Dead&Co is going on now Go to Dead&Co in StL maybe and catch Bobby with The Wolfs SOON as you can... the show in Berkeley few weeks back was unbelievable... think I was on a music high for atleast 10 days after!!!
@@vickiwilson3739 that was a year ago, and we got screwed. Told the only payback were getting is credit at this small venue that has no shows we want to see. On a happier note, our shows for this year are actually happening and have been awesome.
An interesting read into the record: What Dead tunes would sound like with only Weir's vocal and rhythm guitar against a genric bass and drums track. Not complaining, but the music is presented as a demonstration of one piece of a much bigger 'machine', all the parts of which are not present. Sort of a forensic analysis, in a way.
Lmao and for a minute I was thinking about spending the *squints* 2000 dollars on one of these D'Angelico signatures. Ladies and gents' Bob Weir is not doing anything different than he always has in this recording...pretty sure the guitar he's using just doesnt work for him.
On board with that assessment. If you put a blindfold on someone and played them Touch of Grey from this performance, I'm positive they'd be convinced you were listening to some awful GD cover band at a high school gym.
Jerry could have picked any other rhythm guitar player for his band and the Dead would have been as good or better. I've started to realize Bob is a sanctimonious hack.
Bob is one of the best rhythm guitar players ever. He plays rhythm like a jazz piano player picks chords to lead the band in the right direction. It’s not how loud you play but how you and when you choose not to pay a note to give the song a chance. The mix is bad and it sound as if it’s in mono while listening with headphones. Jay Lane is a great drummer and Don Was is an icon. Keep listening to future concerts as they add horns and steel pedal guitar, they will blow your mind.
The concerts I've heard from both Weir and Keith Richards over the last decade or so make me think their guitar sounds are in a range that is audible for ears that have been heavily damaged by years of loud amplifiers
I love how Bob plays lead guitar in this band,
I also love how they start the songs, and you think gee that's a little slow, but by about 1 or 2 minutes and you are rockin out and grooving.
