    Fit and healthy Herlings is FMOTP .. little reminder 2018 ? Redbudd 2018 ? Iron man 2017 ? 3 US riders have won a moto against Herlings in their entire career , Webb, Anderson and Tomac all won just a single moto ...and people still doubt herlings , hilarious ..cant wait for Redbud 2022 , silence the doubters once again

    • @jonruger

      You can’t use redbud as an example he had a one off race where he came in fresh midway through a season let’s see how he does in an entire season of motorcross and supercross. Because lots other European champs have came and tried with limited success overall. Ferrandis is great outdoors but struggles in Supercross even Roczen and Musquin have had limited success both are great but it is more difficult to race two widely different sports in a single year.

      Herlings is fast at MX, period. The US riders ride MX, part time, and still do pretty well. You’re comparing a full time rider VS a part time rider…🤷‍♂️ Two different disciplines, similar but different.

      @@jonruger you do know Ferrandis is a double 250 SX champ ? 😉 and how about iron man , he borrowed a bike , had 3 days to adjust on a track he never raced before and was by far the fastest from the very first timed lap he did ? remember the quali times were he was 2 sec a lap faster ? not bad on a track he never raced before on a borrowed bike .. no excuses dude , he is on another level when healthy and fit as he has shown so many times … and he didn’t came middle of season , it was at the end of the MXGP season ..

    The interesting part about the outdoor Supercross thing is that back in the 80s, when the Americans absolutely whooped the Europeans everytime they came over, the consensus was that this advantage was due to supercross.
    Now these days it's the other way round. I mean to me at least it is quite clear, that the Americans can't hold the torch in Motocross to the Europeans and I think we are gonna see that happen again this year in red Bud at the MXON. I was in Assen and had a great view of Anderson not being able to catch the German 450 guy, who is only a national rider and never raced the GPs. And it has been this way for at least 10 years. In 2012 in theutschental the Americans brought the heat. Dungey, Tomac, Barcia in one team. I think they were on the podium, but Cairoli (as the man to beat) road two races against himself.

    • @jordanwhisson5407
      @jordanwhisson5407 2 роки тому

      Yeah, I think the '80s was more about a new US technique that was developed mostly in SX the new technique was so much more efficient and balanced than the old Euro-style and the Americans of that era had a lot more desire to beat the Euro's whereas the current Americans have less desire to race the Euro's. Yeah, I think the Americans will struggle at MXoN. I reckon that if the Lawrence boys are fit and Mitch or Jed are as well we will definitely see an Aussie podium and possibly our first win. The difference between the US and Europe is with SX the US riders will do the same amount of damage to the Euro's on an SX track as the Euro's do to the US riders on a motocross track. Each discipline has become so specialised that only the top 1 or 2 guys have a hope of being competitive in the opposing discipline so to me the quality is kind of the same quality. Can a top Euro go to the states and win in SX if he races full time and stays for a number of years and can a top American go to Europe and win MXGP if he races full time and stays for a number of years. Definitely yes to both.

      As far as driving goes every single euro driver can drive standard in all weather conditions. That alone is a huge difference and higher skill than the tiny percentage of drivers in North Americans who can drive standard as well in all conditions. Now look at pro racing it's dominated by Europeans.

  • @jonruger
    @jonruger 2 роки тому +3

    The Europeans are definitely better overall at motorcross but we can argue for days if they are better overall riders and there may be one or two Americans who are as good or better than them outdoors. Because in America the riders essentially race two different sports every year that takes a special skill set and often times when the Americans really try they dominate the MXON 7 in a row when we sent our best and were trying to win just in the 2000s not to mention what we have done prior to that. But we would be lying to say the Europeans are not better outdoor riders right now most American riders focus more on Supercross because that’s where the big money is.
