My old shop instructor would go off proper if anyone in the class ever left the key sitting in the chuck. He told us horror stories of the machine getting absent minded lay turned on, resulting in key being thrown into the general direction of the operator head at the tangential high speed. … if lucky, the key stays in the chuck and crashes the head against the bed … destroying the chuck at best, at worst, bends and or breaks bearing seats with the impact forces. Don’t mean to be a dick.. great work.. stay safe. 🧡
