Great video, I am actually planning the very same trip for July 27 this year. What were you using for lures in knife lake? How much time did the tow save?
We used the ned rig - tons of UA-cam example of that. We mostly fished it on the bottom in about 10-20 ft of water. The tow saved us 3-4 hours of paddling one way, so 6-8 hours total - worth it IMO.
I have now watched a ton of ned rig vids and was wondering what colors worked best and did you use any craw rigs. Wacky rigged or just the straight worm? Thanks for your time.
@@davidjensen6630 We use the dark green straight worm with a larger jig. Typically I use 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig (any standard jig works). Where we normally catch fish in the BWCA, the smallies can be really deep and so a 3/8 to half oz jig was necessary. I would bring 1/8 - 1/2 jigs with you and experiment on which one gets you deep enough to find the fish. It's funny, here in Wisconsin I use craw rigs all the time with bitzy bug jigs. I tried that in the BWCA and didn't have any luck. I'm sure they work from time to time but not when we were there.
Thanks, John! I appreciate you watching. It was fun being there and really fun putting the footage together as it constantly reminded me how fun the trip was.
Great video! BWCA is definitely on my bucket list!
If you can get away from people, it’s well worth the trip!
Thanks, Dan
Love this video! Very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching :)
