with the song My Beauty (written by father Kanat) ,, Dimash performed at a competition in Kazakhstan === at that time he already had several first prizes from abroad .... in this competition the Kazakh judges made fun of him for his hair and glasses ... .and especially for high octaves ..... Dimash stopped it and to the displeasure of these people, he succeeded and became an international phenomenon before long in the Chinese competition "I am a singer".

Thanks for your amazing review! I travelled to Astana to attend his concert and this new song was an uppercut in my stomach! The whole concert was fire, incredible, so powerful and I don't know how, he reaches another level. Dimash has no limit... his talent is beyond everything we have experienced so far, he goes where no one has gone before. There are no words to describe him. He is a giant, an absolute genius and It is a privileged to be on earth at the same time as him.

Rarely, but just occasionally, you will hear a performance that when it finishes you can hear a ‘pin drop’ in the silence while the audience tries to assimilate what they have just heard as they are so moved ... this song is one of those!
The story behind the song:
This is about a girl named JENNY BAO who was born with a rare ‘spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)’ disease. Doctors gave her just four years to live. She permanently needs a respirator to enable her to breathe and the only part of her body that she can move independently is her right thumb. Poetry became a way of expressing herself even though each poem is painstakingly achieved. She is now in her early twenties and has published her collection of poetry. Some innovative doctors offered their help and she was given new treatments that now allow her to sit in a wheelchair so she is no longer permanently confined to bed. This song brings attention to the rare disease community.
As Dimash said at the time: ‘A lot of people in China and around the world will now know about this story. Sometimes we, as artists, need to do something for humanity so people understand each other better. If somebody needs our help we need to do something like this performance’

Thank you Richard and Johnny! I was at both concerts in Astana in September and let me tell you, your reaction to “Fire” was alot like mine - I could hardly even think for a bit afterwards! I think we were all like that ;)
As for song reactions: Notre Dame de Paris (a duet with Sundet Baighozin, an opera singer). This was before he became so famous for SOS.
Also, “Ulisse” with Aida Garifullina (she sang with Dimash and Lara as a trio before).

Did you know Dimash seems to have got an injury. He was sporting a sling and bandaged hand at the recent tennis open event in the last day or so. He has just done a mood video and he stands with an umbrella and you can’t see his right hand at all, I think on purpose as he wouldn’t want a fuss.

What you said about the West and his value to the world is so right. A😮s someone who lives in the good old USA, I PERSONALLY, would love for more quality music to guide us through daily endeavors.This may have been said in live chat, but just in case, when the jury criticized him, it was after they had told him to show everything. It follows that this jury probably were more then a little aware of Dimash's parents and their fame. Maybe just maybe a little of the green eyed monster was showing up

I've missed watching Dimash with the two of you + Shirley Jones. "Red Moon Rules" is my favorite current Dimash jam, and Huang Xiaoyun is my favorite duet partner for him currently. A great song and collaboration, for me, isn't dependent on a backstory, context, or even lyrics. "Red Moon Rules" is a prime example of a great song and collaboration. It sounds like something the great Danny Elfman composed for a Tim Burton movie...a gothic classic with a wink. BTW, when Richard asked Johnny what kind of song he would write for which Dimash voice, Johnny's answer sounded exactly like what I imagine Igor Krutoy went through when first faced with this question.

A Drama with a funny ending :
I in the same age about 4 1\2 I learned by myself to play on the piano little children songs. Without help because my parents were no musicians and I played by ear. When I went to Kindergarden the teacher saw that I played on the piano and she managed that I played in a little concert with an older girl about 10 years - 4 handed.
It was a huge success for me because I was the youngest kid.
Then I got piano lessons -I failed badly, because the teacher thought I was lazy. He could not imagine that I played by ear and could not read notes. I was beaten therefore.
So I broke up the lessons and never went back. My mother bought a piano for herself (although she never played) and I was allowed to play on it. Years later I heard that a really good piano teacher was looking for a new kid to teach (I was about 10). I was so excited - I wanted to try if I a would get the education. In short my parents didn’t allow this because the didn’t want to give preference to one of four child’s.
The teacher was really expensive, but my parents were running a good business.
To be talented and have the will to learn hard is one point, but you need the environment.
Now I try to see if one of my grandchildren or grandnephew’s got the same talent - but no one in my huge family is interested or that talented.
Fun fact in this drama - when I married the second time guess who become my father in law - the piano teacher I wanted to educate me.😂

The upbeat nature is fun, as are their smiles at the end.
“Become a Poet” with Gong Linna is very special in many ways. She does the rapping session because he can only rap in Kazakh, her first time rapping, and she does a superb job. Dimash and Linna, speaking in English at the end is heartfelt compassion for Jenny Bao and other disabled.
