I was fortunate to see him play at a small venue many years ago and my mind was forever blown by the level of his mastery, his treatment of these classical pieces- how he manages to capture the piece wholly without losing in the translation. An inhumanly magnificent feat, the night was merely and I or an ear towards pyrotechnics but the essence of Mussorgsky's genius, with the string vibrations much more resonant with native instruments, the balalaika the percussion sounds, he semi-oriental flavors. Truly, a once-in-a-lifetime achievement.. and to think I got to watch him play from three rows away many years ago before the world knew of him, when he performed the entire New world symphony.
Esta es la mejor transcripción de una obra de piano para guitarra, en toda su magnitud. Es difícil encontrar las palabras para un trabajo tan exquisito. Además, la interpretación es como la debió concebir Mussorgsky, viva y emocionada. Está poseído por la música, no por la guitarra, de ahí la grandeza.
Si no estuviera enterado que es una obra clasica de Mussorgski pensaria que es una obra del rock progresivo acustico, las tecnicas que usa en esta obra son espectaculares y para el año del video me imagino que eran muy vanguardistas, esta obra la escuche primero con ELP, despues por curiosidad la busque en el formato original y ahora me encanto muchisimo esta version

最近チラホラ山下編の「展覧会の絵」を全曲弾く人がUA-camで出てきた。
しかし山下のスピード感、迫力にはまだまだ届いていない感じ。
40年前の山下に世界はまだ追いつけない。
しかも本人は未だ現役。
