There's good reason the Canopus Ash replaced my Designer kit five years ago. Still the best sounding & feeling kit I've ever played. Tony killed it on the demos. Outstanding.
Simply as good as it gets in every level of the game. I love my blue sparkle fade Yaiba II (1 of 5) I bought from you guys. One thing I don't see mentioned often about the Yaiba is that while birch is often associated with a bright, cutting tone wood, I would say having owned a few birch kits that the Yaiba are even louder than your typical birch kit. Serious projection from the drivers seat. Fantastic company, top to bottom.
I have a Canopus Yaiba II Bop kit that I purchased from DCP several years ago and I can personally attest that the drums sing beautifully, no matter what style you play.
To my ears, with good headphones, the Yaiba kit sounded the best from the large kits. Although I'm addicted to the looks of Ash drums. Don't tell anyone...
The 2nd rack tom on RFM Maple Rock kit sounds killer. The 1st rack tom also on the ASH Rock kit has so much attack, wow. Blown away by Yaiba Kit and the snare. Man, you guys make super-awesome videos, makes me want to learn drums. Love you, guys.
After seeing so many of your videos, I feel I can say that Canopus drums bring out a different side of y’all’s playing which says a lot to me.. You guys truly seem to be having a blast playing em
i have a not well paid job, my wife still in university and we have a kid.. i just sold my kit a week ago to pay the bill to fix my car😣 but one day it’s gonna be my turn and i will own one of those beauties!
I'm a Paiste guy, but those sabian hhx cymbals sound great ! My favorites were the yaiba birch kit and the NV60 M1 Bop..I closed my eyes and they sounded like a vintage Ludwig..
I have the RFM and Yaiba II kits. Ordering the NEO Vintage M2 for studio and gigging. Three distinct sounds for recording in my studio and just playing. Probably the best drum kits I have ever owned. Used to play Ludwig & Pearl. But switched to CANOPUS as they not only have superior sound and tuning but are near custom in that they are produced in Japan. One of the last drum makers to do so! Exquisite shells and craftsmanship. I have a combination of CANOPUS metal and wood snares as well as the new Type-R carbon fiber snare. Just a pleasure being able to play so many different kits with a different feel and sound. These are really "musical" drums! Thank you CANOPUS and thank you DCP for the great video!
I have a Canopus Yaiba 2 birch kit, same finish as in te video, absolutely killer sound at incredible price point! And the matching snare is certainly the best part of the kit!! Canopus price/quality is just unbeatable ! thx DCP for those amazing demo's!!
I bought the speed star bearings for my 2011 reissue Camco pedals. A bit pricey but definitely worth the purchase. DW used to have something similar back in the 1990s. It limited the beater angle to 4 positions but it was so much better than what they use now for the 5000 series.
Well the kits are ulrga high end kits. But the tunning and playing does add a lot to the demos.... That is something that really makes any kit stand out! Great video by the way! I'm from Mexico but any time you post a video I'm like.... Office time? No way man.... Drum Center of Portsmouth video time!!!
I'm a vintage Gretsch guy, but if I was buying new I would get a Yaiba Bop kit in a second! So good for the price. Canopus is such a great choice for drummers at any level.
I love all these sets. The RFM would be my first choice. I’m so impressed with the NeoVintage kits.... they would be killer for jazz/bebop sessions. Love these drums!
A bit late to wake up to Canopus here. Would have been interesting to see how the Canopus "High Standard Series" Birch might compare with the RFM, Ash, and Yaiba Birch - and with the other high end kits featured in the Birch kit comparison too. Nice size and finish options too. If the Yaiba held its ground among those exalted kits, their most meticulously crafted kit might give punters an even more comparable alternative to consider..? As for me, the Yaiba kit with a Zelkova snare is the attainable dream 😴💭
My favorite drums : Canopus Yaiba ll bop, Canopus nv60 m1. My favorite drummers who have a unique and impressive style: Jd Beck,Obeb Calvaire, Jonathan Pinson,Kenny Grohowsky, Adam Arruda, Jonathan Barber, Will Kennedy, Damien Schmitt, Lee pearson, Marcus Gilmore, Eric Harland, Chris Dave, Justin Brown, Kush Abadey, Carter Mclean, Bill Stewart, Kendrick Scott, Ari Hoenig, Larnell Lewis, Mark Guiliana, Jimmy Mcbride, Nate Smith, Marcus Baylor, Justin Faulkner, Montez Coleman, André Ceccarelli,Francesco De rubeis,Francesco de Mela, Éric Moore,Aaron Spears.

Bought the Yaiba Bop from y’all a few months ago. Far and away best drums I’ve owned and played recently. Neo Vintage kit is the only one that tops it (that I’ve played).

The Yaiba Maple Bop sounds fantastic, but actually all 3 Boppers sounded great to me, and I'm especially diggin' the Meinl Foundry Reserve cymbals, they would make a great set! Thanks for these great showcase videos! I appreciate your comments and personal thoughts. How would you say the Canopus RFM compares to the Gretsch Broadkaster kits in jazz sizes "18-20" BD's? Thanks again!
I am a Gretsch guy to the core but at least back in 2001 at the NAMM show Whitney drums and these Canopus were the other 2 companies thought sounded and felt great to play! I agree at least from listening to videos their the maple snare does sound superior to other maple snares.
Awesome vid as always. Have you guys considered picking up their Takashi Kashikura signature snare? I've read that it's a limited production up till September only
How would you compare to the Canopus to Sonor SQ2? I love the SQ2 (mainly because of Gavin Harrison) but that RFM Maple rock kit sounded fantastic, I'm very impressed.
Oh dear Lord! The Ash kit is huge sounding and beautiful. Gretsch made a Catalina Ash kit, then just stopped. It also had a unique cutting huge sound. My thinking is they were a such a good value, they stopped production to try and figure out how to increase the price but couldn't justify a way to up the cost so, they discontinued the line. You can't find a used Catalina Ash kit, so this is wonderful news. ASH IS BACK. That bass drum 💣💨
GREAT VIDEOS!! I'm so confused now as to what kit I should buy. I bought the "Maple"14x6 snare last year which I love and I thought that I would follow that up with a Canopus kit!!
