This is all incredible. You did such a stellar job at every stage. You make it look so easy but putting this all together take A LOT of effort and time :)
Great insight into this, Sophia. I've got similar goals for my personal projects this year. Congratulations on the publication 👐🏾 You've given me a better idea of how to pitch my next project
amazing photo, love it! Btw I just wanna ask, when shooting this personal projects and working with stylists and make up artists, are you paying them or is it just a pure collaboration only?
Thank you! And it completely depends on the project and who you’re working with. For this shoot I worked with collaborators I’d been discussing collaboration with for a long time, but there are instances where, if it was a personal project with less of a collaborative nature and I just needed someone to assist my vision, there should be a budget allocated for the rest of the team. Also, if you’re getting paid for the final outcome, that money should be split throughout the team, of course.
thanks so much for this! the insight is awesome, if you dont mind me asking tho, was anyone paid? did the publication pay? how does it usually pan out?
How do you do that with money when you want to do these shoots? do you pay the model of do you get payed for what you shoot for or how does that work exactly?
This shoot was a collaboration so everyone worked on a collaborative basis but if you were hired by a magazine for an editorial, they would allocate the budget to pay the team. So you’d be paid by the magazine/publication.
@@SophiaCarey Cool, alright, thank you so much for your answer! Also, when you pitch to brands/ magazines does it apply the same way then? that they pay the team?
@@Rosesareorchidpink it will depend on the publication and if they’re buying the story from you (which might be more likely for print publication than it will be online).
@@Rosesareorchidpink for brands it’s a different case entirely, if you’re working for a brand, they’ll be paying you. You don’t do the shoot until you get booked with a brand, it’s a different way of shooting/making money. I have other videos about shooting lookbooks for clothing companies and working with brands, if you want more information.
These portraits look incredible! Love the ones with the chess board, it's such a nice contrasting prop for the outfit!
Thank you so much! So glad you liked them!
