Dutch can unlock Swiss Pikemen by sending the 'Waardgelders' shipment, and Brittish can guarantee Highlanders with the 'Black Watch' tech. Also, mercs only shadow-tech for african civs. Outlaws require Wild West, and for Europeans, mercs can only receive an age V buff with the Mercenary Contractor
Another reason Germany are good for mercs is you can put 10 settler wagons on a plantation (once you use up the mines), so that is 20 vils worth on one plantation.

Just one small note to head off any confusion, there are actually two mods you've showcased here. The Better Unit Descriptions mod changes the unit descriptions, while the Better Unique Church Descriptions Cards mod adds in the descriptive info to the Church Cards (Wallenstein's Contracts, etc.). You can find them both in the mod browser to get the full experience you see here in this video! Great video, thanks for sharing! Question for you, Widgie: do you see the Portuguese's upcoming Ordinance Rifleman fulfilling a similar function to the Landwehr, or will it play out differently with that civ?
@@lilililiililili6363 it's not a merc. But it does shadow tech like other similar units like Lakota cav or like Indias melee unit or the Azteca skull knight. None of these are mercs.

How can we get that mod? Is it available on Steam? It looks like the perfect compliment to navigate the increasingly fragmented and civ specific unit compositions of the modern AoE3.
A tip: to see which units the the tavern can produce, click on a villager, than hover over the tavern and all the available units of the tavern will show. So you don't need to build a tavern to find out each units it can make!
Jesus Widgie you have played this game so much, how do you make so so so many fact mistakes? Every video, I swear. You just don't remember? Get your facts straight. Maybe do 2 takes for the video, checking the things you don't know. Example: Mercs do not shadow tech, for example. You usually can't upgrade them (there are ways as you know), that is their designed flaw. But I feel this in every video. Also the team cards giving 5% extra for you is old news. Old patch. For everyone. It is fine if you don't know all civs. But basic game mechanics you should know. But I do watch!
I’m fully aware of the things that I said wrong, I will be making a video explaining the differences in the future. I appreciate your opinion however I don’t have enough time in the day to do two takes. It’s one take and one take only! I just wasn’t aware of the extra 5%, I can’t be expected to know EVERYTHING

@@Widgie There is also a new card for the germans that give you the german Mercs every time, like Jaegers, Black Riders and so on...
This units should replace crossbows and not need a card for that.
I agree, German x-bows kinda suck anyway since they only get the first upgrade
