- A return visit to this picturesque Cumbrian fell farm although filming in different fields this year watching the family owned machinery in action on a beautiful sunny day. Same fleet as 2021 minus the Case-IH 1594 that has since moved on. MF 5713S NEXT edition driving a 30-year-old MF 640 trailed forager, a very rare piece of kit and the only one I know still in service in the area. Classic Case 1494 and John Deere 2650 on trailer duties and a magnificent Case-IH 5130 and Wylie buckrake filling the clamp. Filmed in Cumbria, July 2022.

They are David. I know of only one more and it’s local too.

Great blend of the old and the new. Just goes to show, there is always a place for well maintained equipment on a modern farm.
You’re spot on there Mick. Modern machinery definitely has it’s place but older well maintained machinery is still more than capable of doing an honest days graft and as good a job as the newer equipment. Machines such as the Case 1494 and the David Brown 990 as well as the MF forager will still be working at this farm hopefully for a long time to come. We had a massey 610 chopper with a 390t in the 1990s it was a great setup,it was very quiet

@@davidwinthrop7077 yes it was economical,father cut with a massey 565 with claas corto 250,two 6t Marshall trailers towed behind chopper with case 895 hauling and massey390 on the pit,we could do 100acres in 4-5 days

That’s good going 20-25 acres a day for a trailed forager with 90hp up front. Sounds a great setup and for the 1990s aside from the Massey 565 it was pretty modern at the time. Would have loved to have seen that at work. Nice one Bob, really enjoyed hearing from you. Cheers, David.

Great video, Massey doing a very impressive job on the chopper, some well maintained kit on display.
Yes it just proves as often thought that you need masses of horsepower to drive a trailed forager, 130hp in this case. The equipment has definitely been well looked after on this farm, 30 years old in the case of the chopper but still capable of good service come the summer season. Thanks once again, regards David.

Cheers Steve. Yes like you say if it wasn’t for the new Massey it would be like going back 30 years. Yeh can’t think of any other MF foragers in this neck of the woods, the only other one was this farmers previous one which was a 610 model. Other than that, no!
