    Love your videos, thank you. We were there early December, but I had trouble with my ears. Wasn't able to die as often as I like. Did a lot of great snorkeling though. After watching the video, we booked another trip in March.

    Another great video. Thanks for your assistance with the walking stick for my wife on Christmas. She needs a little training on the shore exit. Pleasure meeting you and can’t wait to get back. Happy New Year

      Thank you! Glad we could help. Everyone has challenges with the shore entry and exits here, especially in the winter when the winds are higher.

    Absolutely incredible. My favorite from you. Living vicariously since our trip last week was ditched after the only flight from Houston was cancelled. We’ll see you in March and hope to run into you to buy you a beer.

      @@rossfamilychannel that is so nice! Thank you. I am so sorry that you lost that flight. That is so frustrating when that happens. Especially, from Houston!

    Magic (as always). When the shoals “rushed” around there was an amazing sound - was this an actual sound or added for effect. Im guessing that the turbulence inside the shoal would generate sound. How do you gather sound u der the water ?

    • @ADiversLife
      @ADiversLife  14 годин тому +1

      That is the sound I heard but it was not picked up by the mic. I found an effect that got close to mimic it. Most sound under water is hard to get, in a housed camera, unless you have a hydrophone. So, like many underwater post production people ( Blue Planet, Our Oceans) we use sound effects to give you a similar experience.
      During filming, I had a day where the visibility was poor and that school rushed at me at high speed. The sound was deafening and the turbulence was definitely felt. They were being rushed by larger predators. Unfortunately the visibility was poor and I was not able to react fast enough to get the right focus so I deleted that video. We try to do our best to put you in the moment as much as possible. So, it is more than quality film. Sound and emotional experience through story telling and music are essential. Thank you for asking.

      @@ADiversLife thank you for this. I made the comment out of curiosity not to be critical, but might it be worth adding a note to the description like a disclaimer ? Yes I realise this is the way, and I did see some criticism of Attenborough along similar lines (which was well-countered by similar argument) - to make it entertaining is absolutely required and also the practicalities of getting the recording you want might sometimes require some mild slight of hand, I understand that, otherwise it has no audience and is therefore of less worth, like scientific stuff buried in papers in inaccessible libraries pre-internet. But we are about to enter a world where much content is “AI-enhanced” and we have to be careful not to lose truth, if we didnt already. Your work is truly inspiring and is inspiring me towards making a similar life change (not to scuba) while I still have the health to do so. Great stuff Rich, thank you for making it.

      @ you are welcome. I don’t think a disclaimer is warranted. This is a common practice by movie makers bigger than me. You will notice reference in the credits regarding sound effects attributed to Epidemic Sound. There is also nothing AI related regarding content going into our videos. To me if you have to use AI there is no reason to make them. In fact, one of the things about the companies producing the Fl tools we use to edit them monitoring our work so they can steal our art to train their AI tools. Adobe even tried to change their license to say they had rights to our content if they used our tools. The backlash was huge and they backed off.
