I believe that they took out the apostrophe specifically for its use as a possessive, in the 1800s or so, as it was making it harder to distinguish btwn possessive use, or when being used for past/present tense (it is/it has.)
I too, used to make that mistake a LOT.
They say it's 1 of the most common mistakes. It's 1 of the very few words that don't have an apostrophe, when being used as a "possessive" term. So, I could see why ppl so easily make that mistake still. 🤷🏼

The original song is called "unholy" because the subject of the lyrics is an adulterer. They are refering to his cheating as unholy which is an accurate statement and in no way goes against christianity.
Heres a quote on religion from the original artist: "With religion, it’s just been a thing that I never even had a chance to fit into, because religion never accepted [me.] When I was a kid and all my friends would go to [receive] Communion ...
