The CSULB Chamber Choir
Jonathan Talberg - Conductor
Moni Simeonov-violin
Guk-Hui Han - Piano
What a performance, all of you are superb in every way. Congratulations from Worcestershire.
This performance is. IN. CREDIBLE. the best version of this I have ever heard, full stop.
I attended this awesome performance. CSULB should make this gorgeous piece a tradition--there are so many solo parts.
!!!! 🙃🙃🙃🙃 That fiddler knows what he's doing, too!
Sublime doesn't even begin to describe it. Over the years, I've listened to many of the originally scored orchestral with chorus versions of the work. This is the first time I've heard it arranged for piano, violin and chorus. It works. And that's largely because of the wonderful musicianship of these young singers, the pianist and the violinist. What to say about Mr. Simeonov. My goodness, what incredible musicianship. Thank you for making this available here.
I just listened to this in preparation for a concert I am singing in tomorrow 4/13/24 with Oratorio Society of New Jersey. This is a gorgeous performance all around. I hope we do it half as well. ❤
I think this is the best version of all. These kids have incredible and amazing talent. Especially the violinist.
This is a stunning piece and you really did it justice. I loved the violin solo! And the pianist! And the choral soloists! And the chorus!
Incredibly lovely to listen to on Christmas 🎄
Excellent in every way. 'Bravo' to all the soloists, and particularly the violin solo. Couldn't have played it better if I played it myself, and this music is in my bones.
If anyone who was in this is reading this, I miss you all!
What a wonderful rendition. I sang this work as part of a choir (Bass) back in 1964 at the College of San Mateo (Galen Marshall, Dir.) Still one of my favorite pieces.
really excellent - and a big hand for the pianist too !
Amazing soloists! Discovering the piece through your performance, and love it!
Quite nice!! Love hearing a university choir tackle this difficult but beautiful piece.
Best performance with piano accompaniment I've heard. Beautifully performed.
Great voices, great performance!
We sang this as a choir, with all sopranos singing the soprano parts, etc. This works well for a non-soloist group.
Thanks very much for this!
Exquisite.
Remember, this choir, I'm pretty sure, is not only exclusively voice majors, but graduate voice majors.
Actually, there were only two graduate students in this choir. It's principally an undergrad choir--but you are right in that most of them are voice or choral music education majors.
A great performance from all musicians involved - particularly the violin!
Could someone please tell me who the arrangement is by?
Many thanks,
Chris
Can someone tell me where the got the Violin arrangement? I want to do this with my community choir and would love a reduced orchestra, or just piano and violin as in this video! So beautifully done! Bravi tutti!
That countertenor tho
lovely, even without the Royal Phil.. Choral work is " Sweet" to be very sure!
This is not a violin concerto.....
Your right there. Violinist is too prominent and drowns out the choir with his volume and sharpness of tone.
