  • So part 3 of my 4 worx mower reviews, and I must say my least favourite, it gives the best cut though, confused? so am I..... I just cant honestly justify the £450 price tag, its plastic body self drive motor that seemingly saps the life out of the run time is slightly unnecessary and is too fast in slow and too slow in fast mode, the battery light cant be viewed unless looking over it too and on my one I can only get 60% of the cut heights due to a faulty spring mechanism that they changed from the original design :-( ok lets look at the positives, it is only 40v and you don't HAVE to use self propelled mode, so I can forgive that, the dual batteries have good run time and are well matched to the brushless main motor ignoring the juicy self drive mechanism, the mulch plug is a good feature but could do with some kind of storage when not being used feature, the grass collector is 50 litres and well matched and adequate for minimum emptying and maximum mowing time, the sleek extruded aluminium handles are beautiful and well crafted and add to the luxury feel with their folding design, the grass collector holder secret on the back makes upright storage great and easy, cleaning is difficult as the machine is only ipx1 rated, meaning it is only water proof to vertical water not under any pressure or from the side, that said careful tactical Hydroshot use can be achieved at the owners risk, after all how much damage can you do pressure washing bare plastic?! - no liability will be accepted if you end up messing up your mower doing this - maybe I have got lucky so far!
    I cant write this without mentioning the battery light, it really gripes me and frustrates me that a company like Worx that think of everything would leave such an oversite in a production, it just needs angling up about 40 degrees towards the user, that's all.
    for me the cut this mower gives at 40mm on well kempt grass is however phenomenal, it looks like a surgeon has sliced every blade of grass with a scalpel! its artistic and divine! that said it has too much else "wrong" in my opinion that casts a huge shadow over it as a product, which is really quite bad as it is a mower, and the cut should be all that it is about, maybe I am being a bit harsh on it, but I really think giving it an extra 20v to make it 60v would make up for the lesser run time due to the self propelled mode, though I will say if you have no grass collector on it extends the run time well, grass can be extremely heavy and the more it cuts the more it has to cart around, hence the less run time, eliminate this issue and you have a fairly good meaty 46cm brushless machine!

    I just got the wg743. Brilliant. I had the wg779. Loved that. But decided wg743. I have a small shed, and all my other worxs products take allot of space.

      Haha wow! Soooo...... well done! I normally would just put up a link and all would be well, but this is an exceptional case, first off I would recommend contacting Worx uk customer services, they can be found under the "contact us" tab They are really helpful and may be able to suggest a solution, or after a whole evening of research I found if you search for "Draper 45771 Lawn Mower Metal Blade- fits 460mm Blade Petrol Mowers" you should come across something that looks visually like a striking resemblance, I can't be 100% certain it will fit but visually the keyway is half moon shape and the profile looks the same...... although it says petrol mower the wg749's brushless motor is compatible with a 125cc engine so I see no reason why it would not work, though a oregon 16 inch blade would be my personal favourite to try - its what I will eventually replace my factory one with the issue I have is due to its weight it may not be able to spin it up without the safety overload (designed to protect you if your fingers or other foreign objects are in the blade) unfortunately until I find out this will be a unknown, though it spins up a 18 inch scarifier blade no issues and that has more drag than a blade alone will, none of this really answers your question but hopefully gives you ideas for possible solutions. Worx uk customer care number is 0345 202 9679

      @@mikesptworld thank you so much for your effort. Unfortunately i am from Romania and here we don't have Worx representation and this WG749e doesn't exist here for sale also spare parts neither.
      I guess i'll use it until it's broken and dump the lawn mower 🥺

    I just got mine and the adjustment handle wont click .
    Its brand new out of the box.
    Did you have the same issue? If so what should I do?

      I would suggest contacting worx customer service number first off - they are incredibly helpful and give the best advice, if they don't help then I will try and help you out best I can - though my fix us likely involve bending metal and hammering metal gently til it works, not ideal but I found it was easier than trying to get it packaged up to send off!

      Had a person look at it and they said what you did about bending it.
      Thank you

    Hello again...unfortunately the two 4ah batteries included with this machine do not last enough to mawn my whole 500 sqware yard, so i have to buy another set. What do you recommend 5 ah, 6 ah or 8ah? I heard that 5ah batteries are better than 6ah...is it true? Are they lasting longer? Wich should i buy?

    • @mikesptworld
      @mikesptworld  10 місяців тому

      If you can get them the twin 8ahs would be amazing for this :-) I was never a big fan of the wg749 and its one of the few worx products I honestly can't reccomend, it's quite heavy considering the all plastic deck, self propelled mode seems to drain the battery way too quickly, since finding out about the lack of blade availability too and my own issues with the height adjuster and the quite high uk price it just doesn't hold the usual worx quality and ethos for me. MAYBE with two 8ahs it might improve it 🤔

      @@mikesptworld thanks for your answer. I bought the wg749 brand new with 200 euros here including the 2 x 4ah powershare pro batteries and dual charger included so i cannot complain about the price.
      I don't have any chance to buy the 8ah batteries because here in Romania does not exist, i guess i'll buy very soon 2 x 5ah powershare pro batteries and i hope it will last more than 30 minutes with/without self propelling function (with the 2x4ah it lasted only 20 minutes)...very sad...

    • @mikesptworld
      @mikesptworld  10 місяців тому

      @mokolino29 yeah that sounds like a good plan, can't argue at 200 euros, I was in Munich the other weekend and got charged €165 to get a taxi from the airport to Olympic Park!! A 25-minute taxi ride!! Pure madness! Could have bought another worx tool for that amount! I also think the self power motor is too small so uses too much battery through it especially when the grass collector gets full up. Try using no self propelled and grass collector to maximise your run time, and ensure your blade is kept in tip top condition and sharp at all times.

      @@mikesptworld Hello, I don't know how that guy bought the wg749 with 200euro. But I kan now find it at 385 euro, limited time, do you think it's worth it, or should I stick with a gas one, texas razor 5155tr/we,Danish company, it has electric start and 170cc motor, and the same price. I have around 300-350 square meters. I live in denmark. There is another version wg748e without self-propelled, it costs 335 eur

    How is this lesser than the US model? I don't care for the mulching plug

      Hi, from the research I have done worx don't make this for the US market but you do have the wg751 and wg753 (which I can only see photos of them unfortunately due to regional blocking I can't see any stats on these models let alone get hold of them for comparison for you :-/
