I think they make sparkler birthday candles which I would be more comfortable with but it is a cute way to serve ice cream! The chocolate dipped oranges look good too. I may need to make those for the family Christmas party. Thanks for another great video!
That's a good thought- there must be safer alternatives. Sparklers burn pretty hot, and if you drop one it just keeps burning. Candles would be much easier to control, especially since no one is (usually) holding that type of candle when it's lit.
Merry Christmas and may the Peace of Christ fill your hearts this Christmas. Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos , looking forward to what you get up to in 2025🎄🫶🏻
The ice cream sparklers are the perfect summer treat, except for the ash layer 😂 I am looking forward to your 2025 Lent videos. God bless, and happy new year ❤
These Catholic cookbook videos are always a favorite of mine. The orange bites really look yummy, I’ll be trying them soon. I think we’d enjoy the mashed potatoes as well. Merry Christmas to you both and your family. Linda
If you’ve ever tried to get a fire started, you will be way less afraid that a single stray spark might ignite a wooden plank and then burn out of control 😂 y’all are so sweet and cute. And very responsible.
We wish it would back in to print, too! It's nice that the eBook is available for under $10, but there is nothing like having a real book… at least for us :)
Oh this was just so interesting. I've never seen sparklers w/ food. It was pretty but I just couldn't. The cheese rolls & oranges I'd be all over. I'm baking all day tomorrow for the annual church bazaar & I'll have to try the dowries, even as decoration they'd be festive. Thank you so much for being here for me !
I really enjoy these videos. If you're looking for more ideas, the Catholic Cuisine blog has a tab with a list of cookbooks. I would highly recommend The Catholic Table by Emily Stimpson-Chapman, but that is a theology book with a handful of recipes and not a cookbook, so it may not be well suited to this sort of video. Totally unrelated, but I think you guys would like the video Sleigh Ride on the OPWest channel. It's about the Dominicans traveling in Alaska to say Christmas Masses.
Hi Girls I don’t have a cookbook recommendation but I listen to a podcast called the Catholic Current and Fr. had a guest on that is an Artist who is Amazing and has coloring books of the Rosary and Saints . The artists name is Daniel Mitsui and his interview was so interesting and Fr. Robert has Daniel’s website listed in the show notes. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁😇💕🙏🏻
I tried to make Christmas snowballs last year (sans fire) and had the hardest time shaping the ice cream into a nice snowball shape. Is there a trick to it?
Hmm . . . maybe instead of the sparklers, you should just douse the ice cream with a hefty amount of brandy and light it. Flambe is safer than sparklers, right? 😬
@@catholicmomanddaughter I think you can flambe pretty much anything as long as you're OK with the slight liqueur aftertaste. Bananas Foster and Cherries Jubilee are classic flambe recipes, but I would imagine you could even incinerate ice cream if you tried hard enough. Stand by with a fire extinguisher, though!
Do you have a favorite Catholic cookbook or recipe for us to try? We'd love to hear your recommendations!
I couldn’t stop watching if I tried. Please keep making videos and may the Peace of Christ be with you both.
Great show. Merry Christmas.

I LOVE watching you two cook and bake - it's always an adventure!
Thanks: we enjoy it, too!

Lol- isn't that the truth! Probably the sparks would be more dangerous catching a curtain or rug on fire…. or a book (especially around here….)
Thank you! Fruit with chocolate looks so cute.😊
You are welcome! That one was an easy and tasty recipe for sure :)
Merry Christmas and best for the New Year 🙏🙏🙏🎄🌟
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, too!
I used to have that book many years ago! I miss it so much. Wish I could find another copy. Thanks for happy memories!😊

Thank you, and the same to you! 😊

We're so glad you enjoyed the video, Lena- and happy baking for the church bazaar!

Maybe birthday candles would be a safer way to go with the ice cream balls. They did look good otherwise.

We have never tried flame recipe, but that sounds like it could be fun. Any suggestions?
