Whenever this ground lover sees a plane fly overhead, I now look up and appreciate what you guys do and the skill and knowledge required. You are a credit to the aviation community.
What a great demonstration of the usefulness of a superb autopilot for both an IFR departure and a rough-air descent and approach. Thanks again for your videos!
Thanks Kevin. Really like watching you flying through all the clouds and then breaking out into the beautiful sunny weather. Thanks for the great video. Fly safe.
"Butter Landing" Captain. Thank You for the video. I watch your videos at lunchtime in my god awful administrative desk job here in NOLA. Enjoy the "Fly In" in my beautiful home state of WI.
Thanks Eric! Glad to give you a lunchtime escape for a bit. :) Hopefully we have some cool videos of OSH. I did fly to Appleton the other day to catch a ride with the Phillips 66 Aerostar team. :)

Hey Kevin, How about a video sometime on your plane, such as total time, engines, which engines, some of the squawks you’ve had, what the major ad’s are, costs (if you want to share), etc. A nuts and bolts in depth video of your 310. I love those birds. Best looking plane ever. You don’t even have to leave the ground for that video.😊😊
Thank you for the suggestion David. That is a good idea and I will try to work on something. Especially as things start to slow down when it starts cooling off. :)
Kevin, Another great video. A lot going on during your departure and I bet you love that auto-pilot. Always loved flying above the clouds, so smooth and then...….we have to descend below them...with that said another wonderfully smooth landing. Your landing gear thanks you. Until next time. Now, go work some traffic! LOL
Glad you liked it RL! One of my most favorite times in aviation is when it's gloomy on the ground and you depart and climb through the yuck to the beautiful blue skies. Never gets old! Is it time to retire yet?? :)
@@310Pilot Kevin, If you still enjoy ATC keep at it, it's the best job in the world. Getting back to flying, I wish I still had my C310d and could enjoy the freedom of flying like you guys do. Like ATC....if you enjoy it, keep at it. Love your videos. Until next time. RL
Another great flight Kevin. Very professional, and extremely inspiring as always. Again, thanks for setting the example of how it should be done. There are still too many cowboys out there that need to step it up a few notches. I bet it was nice to get back home to your girl. Coming home receptions are always great!
Since I started following you, I just remembered the C-310 was a rental for select customers. It was rented and flew to somewhere in Colorado. IIRC it was a Summer afternoon on departure, remember Summer, loaded, full fuel, wings and tip tanks. Never got flying and damaged, totaled off the end of the runway. Trees play heck with the metal in aircraft. Instructor story, you know if you are going down, land between trees to get rid of the wings/fuel. Student pilot flying in Nebraska developed engine issues and declared an emergency. Coming down he aimed to go between the trees to knock the wings off which it did. Nice flight back but a little turbulence encountered as you entered the Chicago area. Nice approach and extremely smooth landing at Aurora. As they say in aviation, " A Greaser"! Unfortunately, the good time must end my friend ! I heard that phrase many times during my working life. "Back to Work"!
Glad you enjoyed it James! It was a beautiful flight...could have done without all the turbulence in the end. :) Can't wait to retire and then never have to be at work. :)

Beautiful undercast! We don't see that too often on the channel here, and I've never personally seen it out cockpit glass. All my handful of rides in small aircraft over my lifetime have been VFR. Lots of rough rides lately! That time of year, I guess. Lots of heat around here this season with strong thermals. Just ordered my paramotor last week!! SUPER excited!! Should be here in roughly 4 weeks. Can't wait to finally be able to fly on my own! Anyway, thanks for sharing, Kevin. Awesome as always!
It's funny that I don't have the opportunity to show it much here and it's one of my favorite things in aviation. Glad you're enjoying the videos Jason! We hope to be at Oshkosh later this week for the big fly-in. Most local flight schools offer an introductory flight...you should try to check that out. :)
Looking out the side windows, the view on top looked more like 28,000 than 8,000 - bright and sunny up top, white fluffy below. The approach looked really, really not fun, but you got a serious greaser as a reward for coping with the bounces and 1000 FPM thermal. Thanks for the ride. BTW what battery failure happened?
I should have specified better. It was the GoPro battery above my head and it killed some cool shots/re-routes ATC gave me. I love that look on top of the clouds in the bright blue skies...never gets old. What does get a little old is those bronco low days like towards the end. :)
I've tried to figure this question out for a long time and still don't really get it. They both seem to have had air traffic control and perhaps military experience in their backgrounds, but how is there enough time with a hectic career like that to engage in all this flying frolic and to own an aircraft on controller salary/wages? Where does one come by the free time and the financial freedom at this early stage in life?
@@humbertholloway7701 not being rude but does it really matter on your financial status to fly/ own your own aircraft? I inherited a 150 recently and dont have the money at the time for my license but i have a plane. Timing and financial needs are a must!. I must say that owning a plane is a lot less expensive but there are still money going put. I.e. storage! Good luck and happy flying!
@@bartyoung7615 Yeah, it does, actually. I'm trying to figure out how these expensive hobby uploader You Tubers operate. I am trying to ascertain how young folk can afford to own a Cessna 310, pay for the av-gas for trips all over the northern hemisphere, have funds to pay the rent or equity ownership for a modern hangar at Aurora Airport, have a trophy wife with a Jaguar, a large 4X4 pickup or SUV, etc. It is an incredible lifestyle that usually is draining financially. I know owners at similar small Chicagoland airports and they can't afford to hangar their aircraft, can't afford to fly often except for the occasional $100 burger outing, and don't own conspicuous consumption motor vehicles. I sincerely want to figure out where I went wrong in laying out my professional education and career path, Mr. Young. I had a professional career for decades yet never was able to afford a 30 year old Cub, Skylane or 182, let alone an upscale twin....lol. What is it exactly that you don't understand about this? I find the videos absolutely fascinating and inspirational, but my sense is that for some, aviation is a hand-me-down hobby, an inheritance fed and financed endeavor, etc.

Thanks to you guys, I gain a little more knowledge about my instrument panel. Ironic that I like watching flights when I'm afraid to fly. At least on my flight sim, I'm at the controls and safely on the ground. haha Aloha!
Aloha! Glad you enjoyed the video! :)
Thanks for the Vid Kevin!
You're welcome. :)
Wish I can be at Oshkosh! Our busy time at work! Ugh
I love watching your videos! I would love to meet you guys somewhere, sometime! I am not a pilot, but would love to learn how to fly.
Glad you're enjoying the videos Jason! We hope to be at Oshkosh later this week for the big fly-in. Most local flight schools offer an introductory flight...you should try to check that out. :)
Nice! I may take my son to Oshkosh tomorrow (Saturday), it's about a 5 hour drive. Would be awesome to bump into you guys there!
Hazy humid. Summer flying
Yep....I'll still take it over the freezing cold. :)
You all going to OshKosh this year?
"Gotta get to work"! (14:31) I may have missed this from past videos but what do you do for a living? Just curious...
I'm an air traffic controller.
@@johnmaer well said. I need not say more. My Lord!
I really like y’all’s channel, and the Cessna 310. Guess I’m going to have to sport one of your shirts in east central Mississippi!! Lol!
Ha ha...thanks for the support Mark! Glad you're enjoying it. Jaime and I just discussed visiting Mississippi soon. :)
If you would have turned slightly to the right after take off you would have flown over my house! I have since moved away from the lake. That is where I learned to swim and fish.
I’ll have to check out rough river!
Thumbs up Kevin! I liked the IFR departure with that IFD540 & STEC3100! :-) Don
Thanks Don...I LOVE flying IFR with those two combined. :)
I’m sure not many people would be interested but I would’ve loved to see how your feet were moving on the way in! Impressive flying!
Never thought of that. I need a pedal cam for the gusty crosswind days. :)
I like when you fly alone I can see out the window more
Interesting wavy effect on the close up camera. Was that the cam battery issue? Looked like a dream sequence or something! :)
Sorry! It was a vibration issue with the mount. I have since corrected that with some foam and different camera settings....I hope. :)
Another nice video Kevin. I'm sure you missed Jamie. As always fly safe and look forward to the next one. You better get to work now...haha. Pilot's need their controllers.
Glad you enjoyed it Bill! She's back in the next one for sure. :)
