What they don't show is the little brother watching his older brother getting slapped around and he chose in that moment to wisely keep his mouth shut lol.
Alot of parents were like her. Their kids didn't learn respect. They learned to lie and hide things from her. Her approach doesn't teach respect, it teaches fear.
She reminds me of my mom! Today it seems that some kids are raised in caves! Mom raised four kids: two graduate degrees, two full time union jobs graduated HS! Now we treat mom like a queen, she wants for nothing because she gave us everything!
She did what she needed to do. She needed to teach those boys some respect they needed respect their parents and respect people. Madea did a great job.
I have an aunt who is basically the real life Madea. I knew better than to get on her bad side as a kid. And whenever I accidentally did, I KNEW I had screwed up!
Too many ppl think they love the kids by not hitting them once, and I ain’t advocating violence and humiliation and injuries. But, trying to raise a kid without spanking is not an easy task. It requires a lot of discipline. And a lot of strength, and clear outline of what you want to teach a kid and when and how. You need oversight. Not helicopter parenting but a parent should know where their kids are and can reach them in an easy manner, they have to know when a kid rebels and does thing they should not. You have to allow freedom to explore life including the less than savory things. But kid has to know, if you gonna bully, beat up some one, break or vandalize, smoke or whatever. 1) they should not even think about it 2) if you ask them that they know already know and you apply appropriate consequences, ideally you would have losen the slack on him at appropriate times to allow teenage hormones to loose steam. And the communication is free flowing on both sides. And you can never draw boundaries and change them frequently if enforcing them is a hassle. Parents loose authority by this One thing alone, say…. A child has a 2 hours max window to use an iPad. You take it off, after two hours and he gets restless. And cries and becomes difficult so you give it back? Now the kid knows you have a limit they can breach to change a decision, now another you set to the boundary. But when you are exhausted you let them have it. The child will always test and push till they know for a fact their screams will bring compliance to the demand and that is death to parental authority and the start of at one point you get on first name basis and apologizing for disrespect. Lastly if you don’t have the means to raise a kid like that and you don’t hit or draw sharp consequences you let the mindset grow the idea they can control you. At one point you will a maladapted kid and you want to intervene, to draw the line. I’ve noticed many will at some point put hands on offspring and usually it will be unintentionally abusive, fighting like equals. Ppl have to accept a level of physical punishment for misbehaviors. It is In nature. Unless you can do what I said, you will raise a kid with confused boundaries a kid that will act out and know they can win, a maladaptive person and you may end up using violent consequences still
The part where Madea said to HJ “I don’t wanna have this conversation with you again.” I thought to myself, did she have that conversation with him before?
Not sure if you're just a little slow, but she means that she doesn't want to have the conversation after that. It's like saying: "I only want to say this once."
Not a fan of Tyler Perry's more dramatic movies, I find them far too heavy handed with the melodrama. I saw Acrimony once and figured out immediately that the main character was an unreliable narrator, long before I found out that she was crazy in the clinical sense. Do like the Madea movies, though.
And they're blurring the smacking 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ Dear Algorithm, this is the DEMO of how adults get yung'uns with slacker parents to learn long overdue lessons about respect. It's not child abuse, it's behaviour modification, old school!
@vari.haitian curious on how you'd handle a child disrespecting you, especially when they consider "Let's talk about your feelings, johnny;" time out; and taking things away for a time being a joke to them? Yeah, there's a thin line between discipline and abuse (and definitely not done in the heat of anger), but reality and karma, when there's a lesson to be learned, has a tendency to slam one in the face, whether metaphorically or physically! Most folks would rather get it from family and those who care for them rather than complete strangers (someone always bigger and badder than you), which has a tougher bite, with the possibility of laying you out permanently, to get over.
LOL this was definitely my mom (she was born in 65) i was born in 84. if i ever did shenanigans and direspected or did something i wasnt suppose to do, or get in someones way and not go down to sit down and stay there as well as to keep quiet and to not go into a room i wasnt suppose to and to not get into things i wasnt suppose to (like a cabinet or whatever) when i was little as well as being a preteen and teenager and embarassed her in public or at her house, id have no ass and my ass would be tanned like a cow's hide and i learned to never do bullshit again. i miss her she passed away in january this year (2024) she was a scorpio irish cherokee mixed and was a military marine wife.
lol soooo many non-POC people would have a problem with this, but….this kinda discipline is needed more than ever. Just the other day I watched a fair skinned child tell his dad to SHUT UP, and the dad looked at me like “what should I do”? lol…I just looked at him and shook my damn head.
The irony of it all is the disciplinarian Madea character made Tyler Perry a billionaire! BUT, when Tyler talks about raising his son Aman, he makes a conscious effort to not be like Madea!
