🎷 Bobby Ray Sparks II - Frankestein (Live in Tokyo)
Bobby Ray Sparks II, born in February 1973 in Corsicana, Texas, showed his musical talent at a young age. He began playing the organ at the age of three and received private music lessons from his mother and Mrs. Anna Joyce Whitehead. Bobby's versatility in music was influenced by his parents, both educators and musicians. His mother introduced him to church music, while his father, a jazz enthusiast and musician, exposed him to jazz legends like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dexter Gordan, and Miles Davis.
After graduating from Corsicana High School in 1991, Bobby moved to Mesquite, Texas, to study music at Eastfield College. During his time in Mesquite, he connected with other aspiring musicians, including Kirk Franklin. Bobby became an original member of the Kirk Franklin band and served as Kirk's music director from 1992 to 2005, performing for large audiences across the United States and in foreign countries.
Bobby Sparks is a multi-talented musician, proficient in drums, bass guitar, and primarily keyboards. In addition to his work with Kirk Franklin, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Prince, Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Tower of Power, Marcus Miller, Ray Charles, and many more in various genres. In the gospel world, Bobby has worked with Fred Hammond, John P. Kee, Bishop Paul Morton, CeCe Winans, and other well-known gospel artists.
He has also played with the Dallas-based Emerald City Band for a Christmas party held at the White House. Bobby has contributed his musical talents to radio and television commercials, including Tyra Banks' Top Model reality show. He has been involved in producing soundtracks for movies such as Kingdom Come and The Prince of Egypt.
When not touring, Bobby remains active in creating music, producing projects, and performing locally. He serves as an organist at Pathway of Life Church in Dallas and plays at upscale clubs, private parties, and exclusive events in the DFW Metroplex. Bobby's musical journey has taken him back to Eastfield College for a concert, where his jazz improvisational skills greatly improved. He received recognition for his achievements, including the Key to the City of Corsicana, and has received Grammy certificates for his work as a producer on projects by Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond.
Recently, Bobby returned to his hometown of Corsicana to present a concert at the Palace Theatre, which received high praise for its exceptional musicianship. Bobby Sparks continues to showcase his immense talent and contribute to the world of music.

For awesome Hammond playing, I'm sure you'll be able to find some good Jimmy Smith material.
