For instance, at around 7:07, he goes Edit ->Object->Edit so fast that if you don't know what to look for, you'll miss it. And then wondering why what you're doing doesn't match his. Another example: 7:31, he says, "Add a plane. Extrude it up." He never mentions SCALING the plane, nor switching to Edit mode in order to Extrude. Having Screencast Keys turned on would have been a help, but he does not use them here (not counting the occasional text added in post-editing the video), so there are lots of pitfalls where he neglects to mention the exact steps he's executing. This is really more of an intermediate tutorial, for those who are more familiar with Blender and can see/know the steps he left out. Some might argue that he says at the beginning, "I've tried to make this tutorial beginner friendly, but I'll be using some keyboard shortcuts throughout the video." However, the title of the video says BEGINNER TUTORIAL. Therefore it should be extremely beginner friendly, not just "sort of." It seems a lot of these UA-cam Blender content creators are keen to present "Do this X in 15 minutes"-type tutorials, so they skim through what they're actually doing just to keep the content to the length of time mentioned in the (somewhat click-baity) title. Notice how there are some areas where the video is sped up. How many people *actually* complete this 3D bedroom in 15 minutes? In my experience, most of these "do this in X minutes" tutorials will take at least four times as long, if not more. Which is fine, but when it's due to lack of proper instructions, it can quickly become an exercise in frustration, especially for beginners trying to learn.
Thanks for the feedback Katie, I'll try to improve 👍 You may like my new Living room tutorial where I enabled the Screencast tool, and also the video length is around an hour.

Just finished my first blender project under 3 days. I wanna cry this is so beautiful. Other tutorials are kinda intimidating to actual beginners so this one's a gem. It helps encourage beginners in using Blender. Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Some of the techniques presented here are great to model fast. However it's possible that your models don't look quite well when you export them viewed in a different software. The reason is that some of the meshes were extruded in the negative direction which messed up their normals. When you extrude negatively a game engine won't know what the inside vs outside of the object is. That's what you get when you play a game and clip through a wall and suddenly the entire world is transparant. To fix it: Select the object in object mode Turn to edit mode Press A to select the entire object. Still in edit mode click Mesh > Normals > Recalculate outside.
To fix the mirror modifier at 5:42 click the eyedropper symbol under the "Mirror Object" section in your modifiers. Then click the base of the bed- make sure the axis is set to y as well
I remember as a kid struggling with how to do simple spheres and stuff in blender. I'm floored by how well you explained this and made something this complex do-able. Bravo!
This guy: make everything in 15 minutes Me: struggling with the wall until 45 minutes anyway thankyou, following this tutorial made me feels like a blender3d master in 1 day

If you accidently move your mouse and are afraid of putting them not perfectly, just press right click, to put them back where they were. ^^ I hope this helped!
If you are having problems with mirroring: Go to Object Mode, Highlight the object that the mirroring should be centred around (highlight bed for the mirroring of the bedposts etc) right-click, choose "set Origin" and then choose "Origin to Geometry". Now blender know where the middle of your bed is and the mirroring of the bedposts should work :) Also, make sure that the "Mirror object" in the Mirror modifier is set to the bed.
Bro, I'm still struggling :( It copies the thing above the bed way past where the head should be. I'm gonna duplicate instead, but if you could help me, that'd be awesome
Donut is not that hard you can learn everything by making a donut which you cant learn by making a simple room I made my donut 2nd try at 1st it was not that so good
I tried this on my 2nd day. After a few hours of work, I messed up everything, so I had to stop. It's day 6, and I just finished this after 4 hours of work, even adding a few objects myself. It was completely worth the time spent here
Took about 5 hours to make and render it and i have to say it was worth it. The tutorial is quite friendly and the comments of others strugling to find a solution also helped. Thank you so much for created this tutorial. "G"

This might be one of the cleanest, most straight-forward tutorials I've ever come across, Blender or otherwise. You highlight so many features in such a succinct way, and the outcome is cute to boot. Thank you!
learned in this almost 15 mnt tutorial what some long hours tutorials wont teach you, it covers modeling and lighting and also texturing wich is amazing because almost all other tutorials leave you unsatisfied with unpolished projects that make you thinks it's just crap when you finish them, Thank you
This is probably the longest it's ever taken me to watch a 15 min video... Brilliant results though, definitely feel like I've learned loads thanks to this tutorial!
Thanks for this simple yet amazing tutorial. Though it's only 15 minutes tutorial, I took more than 2 hours to finish this. I'm so happy the result is really good 😄
the best thing about this tutorial is the amount of repetetive actions. You're working on different objects but actions are pretty similar which helps to actually remember them as opposed to just copying :D good work :D
In case you're having problems with mirroring elements you can right click the source element (as the bed) > set origin > origin to geometry. Basically that moves the orange dot to the center of the object making the mirrored elements to be at the right place.
Thanks! i was wondering why it didn't work. How come he didn't have to set the source (mirror object) to the bed in the video? I was just gonna dupe it if i couldn't mirror it, i think that is the cool part about blender, there's many solutions to one problem.
Well this probably took me about 6hrs to do but oh my LORD this was an intense tutorial but in a good way. It did take a bit of time to figure out some of the things you were doing but for 90% of this it worked brilliantly. If only I'd had tutorials like this when I was originally learning. Great work :)
5:08 For the proportional editing tool after you select the mid verieces for the tool to activate you have to scroll while HOLDING G+Z and then you will see the tool's circle, hope that helps
took me about 7 hours to make this. but I had opened blender for the first time yesterday and made a simple dice that took me 5 hours to figure everything out. I'm proud of myself honestly. and this tutorial was so fun and simple to follow. especially with all the comments helping out on a few spots when I didn't understand
My Very first Blender project that i completed. (Unfortunately, didnt complete the donut.) Took me 2 days but final result was worth it. Got to know many options and how they work! Thank you so much @3DGreenhorn for creating this!!
Wow, this was surprisingly easier than I thought. I did it in one afternoon and the next morning. Next time I do a room for the heck of it, I feel confident I'll be able to recreate my room in shapes and solid colors by myself. Thanks for making this tutorial!
In 3:42 I had scaling wrong because my origin point was not in the middle of wall (but where cube was) - to fix it, in object mode select this duplicated wall, right mouse click on it -> Set Origin -> Origin to geometry. In shade smooth step i got some weird shading, for me applying scale worked: On object mode Select object, CTRL+A -> Scale (Blender 3.2.2)
A few days ago, I started to learn a blender by myself and saw this tutorial. I thought it would be easy enough for beginners, so I tried this tutorial.. It was really difficult!! But my ability to use blender has improved. This tutorial is not only helpful but also visually satisfying. Thank you for sharing this tutorial!!
Some problems and answers I found in comment section: + 3:24 bevel doesn't work check if your vertices didn't doubled: Mesh > Clean Up > Merge by Distance + 5:07 it's zooming in/not doing what it supposed to do on video click "o", then "g" and then scroll up/down. to get symmetrical results, press also "y" + 5:38 mirror modifier is not working check, if your orgins are in right places (object mode, select object > right click > set orgin > orgin to geometry) add in mirror modifier "Mirror object" > choose your bed (I'll update it when I'll go further into the video)
This tutorial covers everything I need. I learned Blender 6 years ago in College. This is a great refresher and really helpful for my work on our booth design. I don't usually make 3d objects for my UI design projects in my whole career but this is so helpful for me to bring back to 3d modelling. Thanks!
Finally after 2 days of hardwork I'm done!! This is gonna be my first ever complete blender project yay!🎉❤ the video and especially comments helped me a lot wherever I was stuck!!
took me several months to finally finish this tutorial cos of procrastination. but this is so fun to make and definitely beginner friendly! thank you for the tutorial :>
I was too excited and finished this in a night!! By far, your tutorial is the easiest to follow along for me, and it's very concise and straightforward. Oh, however, I didn't manage to replicate the mirror modifier for the legs of the bed and drawer, so I just duplicated and joined them manually. I like how you put the shortcut keys as well. Thank you a lot for explaining this so excellently. G

I learned more from watching this 15 minute video than the other 10 or so videos I've watched since I decided to try learning Blender. Nice work, and thank you!
I studied this video for almost 2 weeks... Ensuring that I knew what was instructed and why... This gave me a lot of confidence for some ongoing projects... Thanks for sharing and being clear...
awesome tutorial,3years later and your video still helps many, I added my own items too:) and a different version of books, I added a coffee mug, computer,Books and flowers:) I learned how to make them by watching this video, it helped me use the tools much better 👍Thanks:)
Solution for the mirroring; choose which object to mirror into it with the 'mirror object' tool under the XYZ's selection. Click on the drippler and click on the bed.
tip: for smaller increments while using modifiers , for example changing the thickness of the wall with the solidify modifier, hold down shift as you increase/decrease the thickness value with your mouse
Thank you so much for this toturial! My first day using blender, the toturial took me roughly 5 hours to complete. I never thought I would appreciate a video with a computer generated voice, well done! :) "G". Subbed!
G so this took me a week or so, more so because of work and I love going on my own detours to make my own thing during tutorials.. Though I will say this is a good, not so beginner, but not so advanced tutorial.. I learned a hell of a lot and will come back to this video when I ask myself how do i do something that I saw within this video.. Thank you for the effort in making this video.

step1 : exit proportional editing with shift+o step2: Flatten vertices with S+Z + number 0 s : scale z : in z direction number 0 : set all vertices to 0

Those who are stuck at 5:09, i.e the headboar curve is not happening and instead it is zooming in and out then or if you dont find the proportional editing tool (the circle), and scrolling up and down will not work. The tool is actually present there when you turn on proportional editing but it is big enough that you cannot see it. So just simply zoom out until you find the circle and scroll down to adjust its radius. Then you can scale the footboard proportionally. Hope that helps!
For anyone struggling at 8:02, you have to set the "origin to geometry" first before you apply the mirror modifier for the desk itself, not for the leg stand thing that you seperated. For me before I did that, the leg either didn't appear at all or it was too close to the other legs.
@@aes9829 most of these answers you can google, that’s what I had to do when I couldn’t figure it out either 😭. With basics (which i only have 4-6 days worth experience) i manage to finish under 3 hours, it was mostly thanks to a senior that teaches me, either way this tutorial is really simple to follow, eventually I made my own room base on this so it’s good ^^
Thanks for this great tutorial. I have been using Maya for a decade, and I am really used to its shortcut and modelling process. Keep up the great work :) !
1:57 If you find your array is going in the wrong way you can fix this by going into your array modifier and change the X Y or Z direction. (its right under the array count)
Actually a really good tutorial dude. There are a couple of things here and there that could be better, but for a 15-minute tutorial it's impressive. G
For everyone struggling at 5:17 trying to straighten the vertices, turn off 'Proportional Editing' and then try to scale and resize the bottom by hand.
bro thank you so much, I wanted a quick tutorial to spark my interest in 3d again, something not too beginner oriented and not too complex. This tutorial was perfect, and has me hyped to do more! Thank you again :D
Any one having problems at 5:11 if you look at the bottom of your left hand corner (right above the timeline) there is a tab that appears once the object has been manipulated. For our instance it's "move". Open the tab and take a look at the proportional size. Mines was set at 960. How? I have no clue but once I changes it to 1 the curve showed up. It took me 2hrs just to get that. Hope that helps.
It was on "resize" for me, but THANK YOU SO MUCH this was making me insane. I had to change the X and Y to 1 and leave the Z at 0. For anyone else having the issue, when you press "s" then "c" then "0" your shape will look nothing like the one in the video - that's ok, just click to set it, then look at the tab in the left bottom corner and change the "scale" of the X and Y to 1.
Note to self. When you're making the bedpost, you need to extrude the vertices, and not the edges. If you extrude the edges, the separation of the two parts of the bed posts won't have the nice bevel. The bevel is kept when the extrusion is applied on the vertices.
THANK YOU SO MUCH G! THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL. YOU EXPLAINED EACH AND EVERY STEP SO WELL. I HAD FUN MAKING THIS. I LOOK FORWARD TO MORE BLENDER TUTORIALS FROM YOU. SUBSCRIBED ❤ HAVE A GREAT DAY :)
Thank you, this is Great! I would suggest trying to make it clearer whether you are in Object Mode or in Edit Mode. It got a little confusing sometimes, e.g. when scaling. Great tutorial though!
Greaaat tutorial! You're very skilled. I guess it maybe convenient if you could add an option that shows your pressed keybutton option. Amazing one. Just loved it! Edit : just checked your channel. It is filled with many tuts that'll help me. Thanks broooo lol
finally found the solution drawers not extruding inward! basically, you have to separate the legs of the table by selecting the leg (press one of the faces and L), then pressing p and selection. you can then add the mirror onto this, and it won’t mess with the drawers. hope it helps! 8:20
5:04 This guy said "enter X-ray mode and then just add some loop cuts" with absolutely no further elaboration like bro WHAT I thought this was a beginner tutorial
If anyone is having problem with the bevel amount with the modifier added to new meshes created from the plane, that's because the plane was scaled down. You need to apply the scale for the modifier to work as in the tutorial. Simply press CTRL + A and select scale to apply scale which will set all scaling to 1, which means the mesh now has its original height, width, and depth and not in proportion.
this seems to be one of the best tutorials I have ever seen! A beautiful and simple explanation of everything G yeah it took me 3 hours to follow your tutorial and I love the results! Was my first try at isometric. You got a gift for teaching. btw: I just learned now that you can activate BOTH CPU and GPU for the rendering under Edit-Preferences-CUDA. This way I could process 4096 passes in 15 seconds. (rtx 4070 and i9-12900k)
This is a really great tutorial. It'd probably be good though if it was made clear in the beginning that there are many issues that can arise while doing this that will require extra research to figure out. For instance I was trying to mirror the bed posts but it kept mirroring too short on the x axis and so I had to eventually figure out that the object origin of my 'box spring/mattress plane' was not centered in the middle of the mass. I'm not sure how that happened in mine and not yours, but it did and required an extra bit of research to figure out. I'm sure there are many more moments where things like that will happen for myself and for others.
hi there- i'm actually still stuck at this point and can't mirror the bed posts properly... im thinking about just defaulting and making 4 bedposts at this point;; could i ask where you got the solution for this? thank you so much!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this project, and absolutely love the way it turned out. I think this is a huge step in the right direction in my Blender journey.

Thanks 😊
this is how i feel right now :P but this tutorial is great

Why did I find this comment now I spent hours to figure this out lol
If you are having problems with mirroring: Go to Object Mode, Highlight the object that the mirroring should be centred around (highlight bed for the mirroring of the bedposts etc) right-click, choose "set Origin" and then choose "Origin to Geometry". Now blender know where the middle of your bed is and the mirroring of the bedposts should work :) Also, make sure that the "Mirror object" in the Mirror modifier is set to the bed.
bro am having this wierd black shadow when i apply smooth shades any fix? 5:27
Fixed just turn on the auto smooth..
thank you! Was wondering why the mirroring is not working
Bro, I'm still struggling :( It copies the thing above the bed way past where the head should be. I'm gonna duplicate instead, but if you could help me, that'd be awesome

started 2 days ago and just made this while struggling to make a donut, I got to say this tutorial was very simple! "G" :D
Congrats 👏
Same Im also struggling for the Donut
I was busy with the donut and my computer restarted.. now I'm mad at the donut and I'm here :)
Learn the basic dude, than start the tutorials
Donut is not that hard you can learn everything by making a donut which you cant learn by making a simple room I made my donut 2nd try at 1st it was not that so good
I love the fast pace and how the design is so flexible so you can make it your own by adding things without messing up modifiers and stuff

This might be helpful for some beginners that are wondering why it only moves up a specific increment.
Shortcut Key: Shift + TAB to turn off and on snap to grid.
thank you!
well that explains a lot of my troubles
bro saving lives
tysmmm!!!
Bro while pressing s this coming in square shape only not getting rectangle shape
This might be one of the cleanest, most straight-forward tutorials I've ever come across, Blender or otherwise. You highlight so many features in such a succinct way, and the outcome is cute to boot. Thank you!
I quit the donut to this, this felt so detailed and beginner friendly thank you so much! I feel proud of what i made from this.
learned in this almost 15 mnt tutorial what some long hours tutorials wont teach you, it covers modeling and lighting and also texturing wich is amazing because almost all other tutorials leave you unsatisfied with unpolished projects that make you thinks it's just crap when you finish them, Thank you
GGGGGGGGGGG
THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL I'VE EVER SEEN. I got lost a couple of times, but I found my way and learnt A LOT. Thank you so much!!
This is probably the longest it's ever taken me to watch a 15 min video...
Brilliant results though, definitely feel like I've learned loads thanks to this tutorial!
Can you give me a help? my bevel modifier is not working
Thanks for this simple yet amazing tutorial. Though it's only 15 minutes tutorial, I took more than 2 hours to finish this. I'm so happy the result is really good 😄
Congrats 👏
I love this style. When learning 3d modeling it's important to find tutorials with a graphical style that inspires you. And this one definitely does.
the best thing about this tutorial is the amount of repetetive actions. You're working on different objects but actions are pretty similar which helps to actually remember them as opposed to just copying :D good work :D
those short "you can do it" memes where very helpful as a LITERAL beginner TT i love you already
Thanks 😊
This is the kind of tutorial that I love. Fast, clear and precise. 👍👍
before this i didnt even know how to change the scale of a cube now i confidently create my own projects. best tutorial ever!
My man just duplicated and scaled his way to a complete 3d model while i struggle with so many commands. Pure genius!
Probably one of the best tutorials I've ever watched! SO easy to follow a long and the practice as helped me navigate Blender better :) Thank you!
I've been learning blender for a couple of months now, and I haven't ever learned so many useful tips and tricks from a single video. 👍

Simple, complete and straightforward, this might be the best tutorial I have ever seen
Thanks 😊
Wow, this was surprisingly easier than I thought. I did it in one afternoon and the next morning. Next time I do a room for the heck of it, I feel confident I'll be able to recreate my room in shapes and solid colors by myself. Thanks for making this tutorial!
:D
In 3:42 I had scaling wrong because my origin point was not in the middle of wall (but where cube was) - to fix it, in object mode select this duplicated wall, right mouse click on it -> Set Origin -> Origin to geometry.
In shade smooth step i got some weird shading, for me applying scale worked: On object mode Select object, CTRL+A -> Scale
(Blender 3.2.2)
thanks bro thats help me a lot
thank you sooo much!
extruding that pieces of the wall doesn't work for me - keeps cutting that face out
okay so basically he said shift + e which creases the face...shift + d for duplicate and now it works. Blender is SO frustrating
thank sire!
Those who want to start their work should watch this video because it shows every step that needs to be followed because it's easy.
I recommend doing blender guru's tutorial on the doughnut. That tutorial is very beginner.
Some problems and answers I found in comment section:
+ 3:24 bevel doesn't work
check if your vertices didn't doubled:
Mesh > Clean Up > Merge by Distance
+ 5:07 it's zooming in/not doing what it supposed to do on video
click "o", then "g" and then scroll up/down. to get symmetrical results, press also "y"
+ 5:38 mirror modifier is not working
check, if your orgins are in right places (object mode, select object > right click > set orgin > orgin to geometry)
add in mirror modifier "Mirror object" > choose your bed
(I'll update it when I'll go further into the video)
thanks! you saved my day!
Thanks bro
This tutorial covers everything I need. I learned Blender 6 years ago in College. This is a great refresher and really helpful for my work on our booth design. I don't usually make 3d objects for my UI design projects in my whole career but this is so helpful for me to bring back to 3d modelling. Thanks!

took me several months to finally finish this tutorial cos of procrastination. but this is so fun to make and definitely beginner friendly! thank you for the tutorial :>
Thank you so much for this toturial! My first day using blender, the toturial took me roughly 5 hours to complete. I never thought I would appreciate a video with a computer generated voice, well done! :) "G". Subbed!
this is hurt to just by watch. well maybe if listening to this comp generated voice reduce the stressfullness...
THIS WAS SO FUN took me probably an hour and a half but i am so happy with the final render!
s: escala
z : en la dirección z
número 0: establece todos los vértices en 0
step1 : exit proportional editing with shift+o
step2: Flatten vertices with
S+Z + number 0
s : scale
z : in z direction
number 0 : set all vertices to 0
Thank you!

@@JavierLopez-qf7dd El atajo para "cortes de bucle" es la tecla control + R, por defecto divide el objeto en dos partes, si necesita más cortes de bucle, use la rueda del mouse y gírela hacia adelante.
Hope that helps!
i cannot find the circle?

For anyone struggling at 8:02, you have to set the "origin to geometry" first before you apply the mirror modifier for the desk itself, not for the leg stand thing that you seperated. For me before I did that, the leg either didn't appear at all or it was too close to the other legs.
how do you set the origin to geometry....?

Any one having problems at 5:11 if you look at the bottom of your left hand corner (right above the timeline) there is a tab that appears once the object has been manipulated. For our instance it's "move". Open the tab and take a look at the proportional size. Mines was set at 960. How? I have no clue but once I changes it to 1 the curve showed up. It took me 2hrs just to get that. Hope that helps.
It was on "resize" for me, but THANK YOU SO MUCH this was making me insane. I had to change the X and Y to 1 and leave the Z at 0. For anyone else having the issue, when you press "s" then "c" then "0" your shape will look nothing like the one in the video - that's ok, just click to set it, then look at the tab in the left bottom corner and change the "scale" of the X and Y to 1.
heyyy its ez, just scroll up or down mouse and done
THANK YOU
Note to self.
I HAD FUN MAKING THIS.

finally found the solution drawers not extruding inward! basically, you have to separate the legs of the table by selecting the leg (press one of the faces and L), then pressing p and selection. you can then add the mirror onto this, and it won’t mess with the drawers. hope it helps! 8:20
5:04 This guy said "enter X-ray mode and then just add some loop cuts" with absolutely no further elaboration like bro WHAT I thought this was a beginner tutorial
For 3:14 remember to hit "Tab' to enter the edit mode

If anyone is having problem with the bevel amount with the modifier added to new meshes created from the plane, that's because the plane was scaled down. You need to apply the scale for the modifier to work as in the tutorial. Simply press CTRL + A and select scale to apply scale which will set all scaling to 1, which means the mesh now has its original height, width, and depth and not in proportion.
THANK YOU SOO MUCH BROO! I’ve been doing blender for awhile and I completely forgot about applying the transforms.

btw: I just learned now that you can activate BOTH CPU and GPU for the rendering under Edit-Preferences-CUDA.
