Hey, I have a question: Why will my model not bevel? For the 3 square things on the wall they will not bevel at all. What do I do?
thank you

By the way I really like your way of making
It would be very helpful to see what keys you are pressing in this video. How did you separate the table top from the table at 8:52 for example

Took me 3 days to finish this 15 minutes tutorial. But I made it. I finished rendering the image just now. It's looking so great compared to the work I had to put in. I am so glad to have made it as my first blender project. I also watched your 10 minutes blender basics videos. So thanks a lot 😀❤️.
What matters is you didn't gave up, congrats for finishing 👏
3 days too, not because it's hard, but because my laptop is frcking slow =_=
I'm so proud of you, guy. I know I have had my own issues, but this tutorial is awesome because you get to learn what messing up leads to, which is it's own fun for later projects. lol
ohh man i feel you. I am realy glad that peoplw also sharing their fail stories and how they keep going. The best motivator ever

OMG THANKS !!! I was looking for a solution during one hour :,)
Thank you!!
Life saver, I was gonna give up again
started 2 days ago and just made this while struggling to make a donut, I got to say this tutorial was very simple! "G" :D
Congrats 👏
Same Im also struggling for the Donut
I was busy with the donut and my computer restarted.. now I'm mad at the donut and I'm here :)
Learn the basic dude, than start the tutorials
Donut is not that hard you can learn everything by making a donut which you cant learn by making a simple room I made my donut 2nd try at 1st it was not that so good
I remember as a kid struggling with how to do simple spheres and stuff in blender. I'm floored by how well you explained this and made something this complex do-able. Bravo!
Thanks 😊
this is how i feel right now :P but this tutorial is great

Grant Abbitt is better at explaining things for beginners, this guy is more like an intermediate level tbh.
Oh hey I'm subscribed to this guy
For those who are beginners, following this tutorial may be quite difficult because the instructor does not mention a number of critical things he's doing, like switching between Object and Edit modes. For instance, at around 7:07, he goes Edit ->Object->Edit so fast that if you don't know what to look for, you'll miss it. And then wondering why what you're doing doesn't match his. Another example: 7:31, he says, "Add a plane. Extrude it up." He never mentions SCALING the plane, nor switching to Edit mode in order to Extrude. Having Screencast Keys turned on would have been a help, but he does not use them here (not counting the occasional text added in post-editing the video), so there are lots of pitfalls where he neglects to mention the exact steps he's executing. This is really more of an intermediate tutorial, for those who are more familiar with Blender and can see/know the steps he left out.
Some might argue that he says at the beginning, "I've tried to make this tutorial beginner friendly, but I'll be using some keyboard shortcuts throughout the video." However, the title of the video says BEGINNER TUTORIAL. Therefore it should be extremely beginner friendly, not just "sort of."
It seems a lot of these UA-cam Blender content creators are keen to present "Do this X in 15 minutes"-type tutorials, so they skim through what they're actually doing just to keep the content to the length of time mentioned in the (somewhat click-baity) title. Notice how there are some areas where the video is sped up. How many people *actually* complete this 3D bedroom in 15 minutes? In my experience, most of these "do this in X minutes" tutorials will take at least four times as long, if not more. Which is fine, but when it's due to lack of proper instructions, it can quickly become an exercise in frustration, especially for beginners trying to learn.
Thanks for the feedback Katie, I'll try to improve 👍 You may like my new Living room tutorial where I enabled the Screencast tool, and also the video length is around an hour.
@@3dgreenhorn Hahaha no please keep the tutorials brief :) im a beginner and i like this tutorial alot :)
@@BobThef That aint the point here bud. The main point is that the uploader neglects several critical things that would lead next step to another. I’m an absolute beginner, and I got frustrated doing this because I thought I’m not fast enough to catch up, but now I know why now that OP has mentioned it.
For those stuck at 5:13 trying to flatten the arc, try this:
1. As in the video, select all bottom points
2. Hit 'S' to activate scale tool
3. Hit 'Z' to lock to Z axis
4. Hit '0' (zero) to flatten the geometry (at this point notice the scale numbers in the top left)
5. Hit enter to confirm your new shape.
6. Profit.
I also made a tutorial of isometric design in illustrator. If any one interested you can check this tutorial

Just finished my first blender project under 3 days. I wanna cry this is so beautiful. Other tutorials are kinda intimidating to actual beginners so this one's a gem. It helps encourage beginners in using Blender. Thank you so much for this tutorial!
2:05 If you find your array is going the wrong way, you can fix this by going into your array modifier and changing the X Y or Z direction. (it's right under the array count)
Thanks a lot bro litterally I duplicated it and it took a lot of time coz it was spawning in the wrong axis broski I love u
Thanks so much!!
Some of the techniques presented here are great to model fast. However it's possible that your models don't look quite well when you export them viewed in a different software. The reason is that some of the meshes were extruded in the negative direction which messed up their normals. When you extrude negatively a game engine won't know what the inside vs outside of the object is. That's what you get when you play a game and clip through a wall and suddenly the entire world is transparant.
To fix it:
Select the object in object mode
Turn to edit mode
Press A to select the entire object.
Still in edit mode click Mesh > Normals > Recalculate outside.
If you are having problems with mirroring: Go to Object Mode, Highlight the object that the mirroring should be centred around (highlight bed for the mirroring of the bedposts etc) right-click, choose "set Origin" and then choose "Origin to Geometry". Now blender know where the middle of your bed is and the mirroring of the bedposts should work :) Also, make sure that the "Mirror object" in the Mirror modifier is set to the bed.
bro am having this wierd black shadow when i apply smooth shades any fix? 5:27

Thanks for this great tutorial. I have been using Maya for a decade, and I am really used to its shortcut and modelling process. Now I am trying to expand my skills in other 3D software, and learning more, outside my comfort zone. Your tutorials are very useful and I love to learn while doing all the steps. Keep up the great work :) !
This is the kind of tutorial that I love. Fast, clear and precise. 👍👍
I love this style. When learning 3d modeling it's important to find tutorials with a graphical style that inspires you. And this one definitely does.
Wow, this was surprisingly easier than I thought. I did it in one afternoon and the next morning. Next time I do a room for the heck of it, I feel confident I'll be able to recreate my room in shapes and solid colors by myself. Thanks for making this tutorial!
:D
i just wanted to say i love all of your tutorials. i have found them so helpful in learning blender. thank you for sharing your expertise in an approachable way.
I was too excited and finished this in a night!! By far, your tutorial is the easiest to follow along for me, and it's very concise and straightforward. Oh, however, I didn't manage to replicate the mirror modifier for the legs of the bed and drawer, so I just duplicated and joined them manually. I like how you put the shortcut keys as well. Thank you a lot for explaining this so excellently. G
Thanks for this simple yet amazing tutorial. Though it's only 15 minutes tutorial, I took more than 2 hours to finish this. I'm so happy the result is really good 😄
Congrats 👏
THIS WAS SO FUN took me probably an hour and a half but i am so happy with the final render!
I studied this video for almost 2 weeks... Ensuring that I knew what was instructed and why... This gave me a lot of confidence for some ongoing projects... Thanks for sharing and being clear...
i really love the lighting, its beautiful!!
Thanks 😊
I've been looking for such tutorials for a long time. Thanks for putting this up, now I can draw virtually anything in 3D stylishly!
learned in this almost 15 mnt tutorial what some long hours tutorials wont teach you, it covers modeling and lighting and also texturing wich is amazing because almost all other tutorials leave you unsatisfied with unpolished projects that make you thinks it's just crap when you finish them, Thank you
I tried this on my 2nd day. After a few hours of work, I messed up everything, so I had to stop.
It's day 6, and I just finished this after 4 hours of work, even adding a few objects myself. It was completely worth the time spent here
This tutorial covers everything I need. I learned Blender 6 years ago in College. This is a great refresher and really helpful for my work on our booth design. I don't usually make 3d objects for my UI design projects in my whole career but this is so helpful for me to bring back to 3d modelling. Thanks!
Well this probably took me about 6hrs to do but oh my LORD this was an intense tutorial but in a good way. It did take a bit of time to figure out some of the things you were doing but for 90% of this it worked brilliantly. If only I'd had tutorials like this when I was originally learning. Great work :)
Thanks 😊
An easy-to-follow tutorial. Thank you!
GGGGGGGGGGG
THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL I'VE EVER SEEN. I got lost a couple of times, but I found my way and learnt A LOT. Thank you so much!!
I agree with some other comments posted here: this is NOT a tutorial for complete beginners, counting myself among them. If I hadn't made 'The Donut' beforehand, I would get completely stuck on this one.
It's little things like:
- Switching between Object Mode and Edit Mode without telling
- Not explaining how to place a cursor, or even what it does
- 6:22 I misformed the bed pole time and time again before finding out you never said to turn off Proportional Editing from an earlier step
- 10:24 You don't mention to exclude the Z axis
- No explanation on how to give parts of the play button, books or the paintings their individual color, now that it's part of one object
It did teach me a lot of problem solving, and the end result looks absolutely adorable! This video motivates to play around with more low poly projects. After acquiring some more basic Blender knowledge, I'm sure your tutorials are okay to follow.
THANK YOU SO MUCH G! THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL. YOU EXPLAINED EACH AND EVERY STEP SO WELL. I HAD FUN MAKING THIS.

the best thing about this tutorial is the amount of repetetive actions. You're working on different objects but actions are pretty similar which helps to actually remember them as opposed to just copying :D good work :D
A few days ago, I started to learn a blender by myself and saw this tutorial. I thought it would be easy enough for beginners, so I tried this tutorial.. It was really difficult!! In case you're having problems with mirroring elements you can right click the source element (as the bed) > set origin > origin to geometry.
Basically that moves the orange dot to the center of the object making the mirrored elements to be at the right place.
Thanks! i was wondering why it didn't work. How come he didn't have to set the source (mirror object) to the bed in the video?
I was just gonna dupe it if i couldn't mirror it, i think that is the cool part about blender, there's many solutions to one problem.
took me several months to finally finish this tutorial cos of procrastination. but this is so fun to make and definitely beginner friendly! thank you for the tutorial :>

awesome tutorial! the only i had made before this is the donut, and this tutorial taught me a lot about making geometric objects. i had a few hiccups along the way, but managed to work through them all. I would suggest trying to make it clearer whether you are in Object Mode or in Edit Mode. It got a little confusing sometimes, e.g. when scaling. Great tutorial though!

Hello 3D Greenhorn, thank you so much for the video! It really helps in introducing me to modeling in blender. If i may ask, @6:31 i noticed that the top part of the post curved inwards as it connects to the UV sphere when you went back to object mode. Mine doesn't do that, it's just flat (it doesnt curved towards the UV sphere like yours do). May I ask how you did that?
Solution for the mirroring; choose which object to mirror into it with the 'mirror object' tool under the XYZ's selection. Click on the drippler and click on the bed.

Thanks for the tutorial! I'm not a novice at Blender but your tutorials have been really great for getting out of my art block/back into the swing of things
Great to hear!
2:35 does not create the thickness but stretches the two faces creating a distorted copy, any advice?
This is a really great tutorial. It'd probably be good though if it was made clear in the beginning that there are many issues that can arise while doing this that will require extra research to figure out. For instance I was trying to mirror the bed posts but it kept mirroring too short on the x axis and so I had to eventually figure out that the object origin of my 'box spring/mattress plane' was not centered in the middle of the mass. I'm not sure how that happened in mine and not yours, but it did and required an extra bit of research to figure out. I'm sure there are many more moments where things like that will happen for myself and for others.
hi there- i'm actually still stuck at this point and can't mirror the bed posts properly... im thinking about just defaulting and making 4 bedposts at this point;; could i ask where you got the solution for this? thank you so much!!

Your workflow is amazing!
great tutorials. doing all of them to develop muscle memory for the shortcuts. modelling process is so much faster than what i could do in maya
Note to self. When you're making the bedpost, you need to extrude the vertices, and not the edges. If you extrude the edges, the separation of the two parts of the bed posts won't have the nice bevel. The bevel is kept when the extrusion is applied on the vertices.
at 3:45 when I extrude it does not do it freely like yours, it does it in clicks. it makes it a huge block
G - Great little project that covers loads of useful basic and some slightly more advanced techniques, thank you!
I LOVE this! great job!
I’m struggling at 5:07 where you press O to turn on proportional editing… when I press O it turns it on, and I have the vertices selected in the middle of the footboard, but when I scroll it just zooms? I thought maybe you pressed a hot key and didn’t say it but I can’t tell what’s happening in the video around that time, my blender screen seems to look the same as yours… I tried just moving it up and scaling, but neither are working that way.
If it matters, I don’t have a real mouse wheel, it’s a bluetooth mouse with a touch sensor wheel, so I can’t press MMB or anything, just scroll.
Any way someone could help me out?
idk much but if you press grab/g and ur vertex is selected, you can choose the axis that makes it only go up and down and use the mouse wheel to help with it
