2:05 If you find your array is going the wrong way, you can fix this by going into your array modifier and changing the X Y or Z direction. (it's right under the array count)
For those who are beginners, following this tutorial may be quite difficult because the instructor does not mention a number of critical things he's doing, like switching between Object and Edit modes. For instance, at around 7:07, he goes Edit ->Object->Edit so fast that if you don't know what to look for, you'll miss it. And then wondering why what you're doing doesn't match his. Another example: 7:31, he says, "Add a plane. Extrude it up." He never mentions SCALING the plane, nor switching to Edit mode in order to Extrude. Having Screencast Keys turned on would have been a help, but he does not use them here (not counting the occasional text added in post-editing the video), so there are lots of pitfalls where he neglects to mention the exact steps he's executing. This is really more of an intermediate tutorial, for those who are more familiar with Blender and can see/know the steps he left out. Some might argue that he says at the beginning, "I've tried to make this tutorial beginner friendly, but I'll be using some keyboard shortcuts throughout the video." However, the title of the video says BEGINNER TUTORIAL. Therefore it should be extremely beginner friendly, not just "sort of." It seems a lot of these UA-cam Blender content creators are keen to present "Do this X in 15 minutes"-type tutorials, so they skim through what they're actually doing just to keep the content to the length of time mentioned in the (somewhat click-baity) title. Notice how there are some areas where the video is sped up. How many people *actually* complete this 3D bedroom in 15 minutes? In my experience, most of these "do this in X minutes" tutorials will take at least four times as long, if not more. Which is fine, but when it's due to lack of proper instructions, it can quickly become an exercise in frustration, especially for beginners trying to learn.
Thanks for the feedback Katie, I'll try to improve 👍 You may like my new Living room tutorial where I enabled the Screencast tool, and also the video length is around an hour.
@@BobThef That aint the point here bud. The main point is that the uploader neglects several critical things that would lead next step to another. I’m an absolute beginner, and I got frustrated doing this because I thought I’m not fast enough to catch up, but now I know why now that OP has mentioned it.
This types of software are learn-by-doing. How can I learn if not all the commands are told? It also doesn't help the fact that I'm not a native english speaker and a lot of time i hear something for something else. for example alt + C instead of alt + E. How does not knowing something makes someone lazy?
Donut is not that hard you can learn everything by making a donut which you cant learn by making a simple room I made my donut 2nd try at 1st it was not that so good
Some of the techniques presented here are great to model fast. However it's possible that your models don't look quite well when you export them viewed in a different software. The reason is that some of the meshes were extruded in the negative direction which messed up their normals. When you extrude negatively a game engine won't know what the inside vs outside of the object is. That's what you get when you play a game and clip through a wall and suddenly the entire world is transparant. To fix it: Select the object in object mode Turn to edit mode Press A to select the entire object. Still in edit mode click Mesh > Normals > Recalculate outside.
If you are having problems with mirroring: Go to Object Mode, Highlight the object that the mirroring should be centred around (highlight bed for the mirroring of the bedposts etc) right-click, choose "set Origin" and then choose "Origin to Geometry". Now blender know where the middle of your bed is and the mirroring of the bedposts should work :) Also, make sure that the "Mirror object" in the Mirror modifier is set to the bed.
Bro, I'm still struggling :( It copies the thing above the bed way past where the head should be. I'm gonna duplicate instead, but if you could help me, that'd be awesome
For those stuck at 5:13 trying to flatten the arc, try this: 1. As in the video, select all bottom points 2. Hit 'S' to activate scale tool 3. Hit 'Z' to lock to Z axis 4. Hit '0' (zero) to flatten the geometry (at this point notice the scale numbers in the top left) 5. Hit enter to confirm your new shape. 6. Profit.
Just finished my first blender project under 3 days. I wanna cry this is so beautiful. Other tutorials are kinda intimidating to actual beginners so this one's a gem. It helps encourage beginners in using Blender. Thank you so much for this tutorial!

1:46 This might be helpful for some beginners that are wondering why it only moves up a specific increment. Shortcut Key: Shift + TAB to turn off and on snap to grid.
5:08 For the proportional editing tool after you select the mid verieces for the tool to activate you have to scroll while HOLDING G+Z and then you will see the tool's circle, hope that helps
In 3:42 I had scaling wrong because my origin point was not in the middle of wall (but where cube was) - to fix it, in object mode select this duplicated wall, right mouse click on it -> Set Origin -> Origin to geometry. In shade smooth step i got some weird shading, for me applying scale worked: On object mode Select object, CTRL+A -> Scale (Blender 3.2.2)
This might be one of the cleanest, most straight-forward tutorials I've ever come across, Blender or otherwise. You highlight so many features in such a succinct way, and the outcome is cute to boot. Thank you!
learned in this almost 15 mnt tutorial what some long hours tutorials wont teach you, it covers modeling and lighting and also texturing wich is amazing because almost all other tutorials leave you unsatisfied with unpolished projects that make you thinks it's just crap when you finish them, Thank you
I tried this on my 2nd day. After a few hours of work, I messed up everything, so I had to stop. It's day 6, and I just finished this after 4 hours of work, even adding a few objects myself. It was completely worth the time spent here
Some problems and answers I found in comment section: + 3:24 bevel doesn't work check if your vertices didn't doubled: Mesh > Clean Up > Merge by Distance + 5:07 it's zooming in/not doing what it supposed to do on video click "o", then "g" and then scroll up/down. to get symmetrical results, press also "y" + 5:38 mirror modifier is not working check, if your orgins are in right places (object mode, select object > right click > set orgin > orgin to geometry) add in mirror modifier "Mirror object" > choose your bed (I'll update it when I'll go further into the video)
Thanks for this simple yet amazing tutorial. Though it's only 15 minutes tutorial, I took more than 2 hours to finish this. I'm so happy the result is really good 😄
Took about 5 hours to make and render it and i have to say it was worth it. The tutorial is quite friendly and the comments of others strugling to find a solution also helped. Thank you so much for created this tutorial. "G"
This is probably the longest it's ever taken me to watch a 15 min video... Brilliant results though, definitely feel like I've learned loads thanks to this tutorial!
In case you're having problems with mirroring elements you can right click the source element (as the bed) > set origin > origin to geometry. Basically that moves the orange dot to the center of the object making the mirrored elements to be at the right place.
Thanks! i was wondering why it didn't work. How come he didn't have to set the source (mirror object) to the bed in the video? I was just gonna dupe it if i couldn't mirror it, i think that is the cool part about blender, there's many solutions to one problem.
the best thing about this tutorial is the amount of repetetive actions. You're working on different objects but actions are pretty similar which helps to actually remember them as opposed to just copying :D good work :D
Wow, this was surprisingly easier than I thought. I did it in one afternoon and the next morning. Next time I do a room for the heck of it, I feel confident I'll be able to recreate my room in shapes and solid colors by myself. Thanks for making this tutorial!
My Very first Blender project that i completed. (Unfortunately, didnt complete the donut.) Took me 2 days but final result was worth it. Got to know many options and how they work! Thank you so much @3DGreenhorn for creating this!!
3:13 if someone got 2 faces not a single one after the bevel like he did, you can delete the edge loops by select the edge loops and press x (edge loops) and it'll be a single face, this also help activate the bevel modifire later
Well this probably took me about 6hrs to do but oh my LORD this was an intense tutorial but in a good way. It did take a bit of time to figure out some of the things you were doing but for 90% of this it worked brilliantly. If only I'd had tutorials like this when I was originally learning. Great work :)
I was too excited and finished this in a night!! By far, your tutorial is the easiest to follow along for me, and it's very concise and straightforward. Oh, however, I didn't manage to replicate the mirror modifier for the legs of the bed and drawer, so I just duplicated and joined them manually. I like how you put the shortcut keys as well. Thank you a lot for explaining this so excellently. G

I’m struggling at 5:07 where you press O to turn on proportional editing… when I press O it turns it on, and I have the vertices selected in the middle of the footboard, but when I scroll it just zooms? I thought maybe you pressed a hot key and didn’t say it but I can’t tell what’s happening in the video around that time, my blender screen seems to look the same as yours… I tried just moving it up and scaling, but neither are working that way. If it matters, I don’t have a real mouse wheel, it’s a bluetooth mouse with a touch sensor wheel, so I can’t press MMB or anything, just scroll. Any way someone could help me out?
idk much but if you press grab/g and ur vertex is selected, you can choose the axis that makes it only go up and down and use the mouse wheel to help with it
1 and a half day but i did it, thank you so much for this tutorial, nice, easy quick to the chase, keep them coming as I intend to watch and learn with all of them. Thank you.

A few days ago, I started to learn a blender by myself and saw this tutorial. I thought it would be easy enough for beginners, so I tried this tutorial.. It was really difficult!! But my ability to use blender has improved. This tutorial is not only helpful but also visually satisfying. Thank you for sharing this tutorial!!
Great tutorial as far as I was able to reproduce it myself. I was able to follow up to 3:16 where ALT+Left Click didn't select the upper part of both walls, as in the video, but the whole right wall, so i got stuck there, and being a beginner, I've no idea what to do next. But thanks, it was very helpful up to that point!
took me about 7 hours to make this. but I had opened blender for the first time yesterday and made a simple dice that took me 5 hours to figure everything out. I'm proud of myself honestly. and this tutorial was so fun and simple to follow. especially with all the comments helping out on a few spots when I didn't understand
Solution for the mirroring; choose which object to mirror into it with the 'mirror object' tool under the XYZ's selection. Click on the drippler and click on the bed.
This tutorial covers everything I need. I learned Blender 6 years ago in College. This is a great refresher and really helpful for my work on our booth design. I don't usually make 3d objects for my UI design projects in my whole career but this is so helpful for me to bring back to 3d modelling. Thanks!
G so this took me a week or so, more so because of work and I love going on my own detours to make my own thing during tutorials.. Though I will say this is a good, not so beginner, but not so advanced tutorial.. I learned a hell of a lot and will come back to this video when I ask myself how do i do something that I saw within this video.. Thank you for the effort in making this video.
For anyone struggling at 8:02, you have to set the "origin to geometry" first before you apply the mirror modifier for the desk itself, not for the leg stand thing that you seperated. For me before I did that, the leg either didn't appear at all or it was too close to the other legs.
@@aes9829 most of these answers you can google, that’s what I had to do when I couldn’t figure it out either 😭. But Select your object (Left click) Enter Edit mode (Tab key) Select all vertices (A key) Press Shift-S, select 'Cursor to selected' Enter Object mode (Tab key) Right-click, select 'Set origin > Origin to cursor' I got that from google cause I’m not at my laptop at the moment. Hope that helps :)!
it's a great tutorial but at one point I'm blocked and I don't know why or how to do it, at 5:34 the mirror modifier works but not like exactly in the video it's a little closer to the footstep so it's not against the wall, can you help me why ?
2:43 If someone is struggling with their walls getting thick inversely instead of getting thick from the outside, you have to increase the offset from the solidify modifier all the way to 1
Thanks for this great tutorial. I have been using Maya for a decade, and I am really used to its shortcut and modelling process. Now I am trying to expand my skills in other 3D software, and learning more, outside my comfort zone. Your tutorials are very useful and I love to learn while doing all the steps. Keep up the great work :) !
Any one having problems at 5:11 if you look at the bottom of your left hand corner (right above the timeline) there is a tab that appears once the object has been manipulated. For our instance it's "move". Open the tab and take a look at the proportional size. Mines was set at 960. How? I have no clue but once I changes it to 1 the curve showed up. It took me 2hrs just to get that. Hope that helps.
It was on "resize" for me, but THANK YOU SO MUCH this was making me insane. I had to change the X and Y to 1 and leave the Z at 0. For anyone else having the issue, when you press "s" then "c" then "0" your shape will look nothing like the one in the video - that's ok, just click to set it, then look at the tab in the left bottom corner and change the "scale" of the X and Y to 1.
took me several months to finally finish this tutorial cos of procrastination. but this is so fun to make and definitely beginner friendly! thank you for the tutorial :>
For everyone struggling at 5:17 trying to straighten the vertices, turn off 'Proportional Editing' and then try to scale and resize the bottom by hand.
for some reason around 2:40 when I add the solidify modifier to the wall and try to adjust the thickness, there is no fill between the inside and the outside edge of the wall, its almost as if I just duplicated the thin wall and just resized it... any idea on a fix? EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. Instead of deleting the faces of the cube I was instead dissolving them, which kinda messed up the remaining two faces. Deleting, rather than dissolving the unwanted faces fixed the issue.
Those stuck there like me in deleting faces, just go to a face press left click and drag and let go on the face you want to select for deletion and press delete. I figured it out by accident
thanks for this tutorial. i found most of the beginner tutorials for blender that i tried quite frustrating to follow but this one works quite well for me.
I studied this video for almost 2 weeks... Ensuring that I knew what was instructed and why... This gave me a lot of confidence for some ongoing projects... Thanks for sharing and being clear...
Those who are stuck at 5:09, i.e the headboar curve is not happening and instead it is zooming in and out then or if you dont find the proportional editing tool (the circle), and scrolling up and down will not work. The tool is actually present there when you turn on proportional editing but it is big enough that you cannot see it. So just simply zoom out until you find the circle and scroll down to adjust its radius. Then you can scale the footboard proportionally. Hope that helps!
bro thank you so much, I wanted a quick tutorial to spark my interest in 3d again, something not too beginner oriented and not too complex. This tutorial was perfect, and has me hyped to do more! Thank you again :D
Actually a really good tutorial dude. There are a couple of things here and there that could be better, but for a 15-minute tutorial it's impressive. G
Thank you so much for this toturial! My first day using blender, the toturial took me roughly 5 hours to complete. I never thought I would appreciate a video with a computer generated voice, well done! :) "G". Subbed!
tip: for smaller increments while using modifiers , for example changing the thickness of the wall with the solidify modifier, hold down shift as you increase/decrease the thickness value with your mouse
One of the problems I had that I think was me doing something on acident and messing it up was that for the legs of the bed, it wouldnt mirror correctly (it would only mirror on the y axis correctly the x was iffy) and for the legs of the little table, so I added an array modifier to it and changed the factor x and it worked well :p
I learned more from watching this 15 minute video than the other 10 or so videos I've watched since I decided to try learning Blender. Nice work, and thank you!
@@benus.1453 if your object moves along your cursor, Its because of the large Circle Editing area. As this comment says, activate propotional editing by pressing the O key, press G and Z (must remain pressed), and then scroll up and down by looking at the circle size number at the top left of the screen.
finally found the solution drawers not extruding inward! basically, you have to separate the legs of the table by selecting the leg (press one of the faces and L), then pressing p and selection. you can then add the mirror onto this, and it won’t mess with the drawers. hope it helps! 8:20

To fix it:
Select the object in object mode
Turn to edit mode
Press A to select the entire object.

For those stuck at 5:13 trying to flatten the arc, try this:
1. As in the video, select all bottom points
2. Hit 'S' to activate scale tool
3. Hit 'Z' to lock to Z axis
4. Hit '0' (zero) to flatten the geometry (at this point notice the scale numbers in the top left)
5. Hit enter to confirm your new shape.
6. Profit.

THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL I'VE EVER SEEN. I got lost a couple of times, but I found my way and learnt A LOT. Thank you so much!!
In 3:42 I had scaling wrong because my origin point was not in the middle of wall (but where cube was) - to fix it, in object mode select this duplicated wall, right mouse click on it -> Set Origin -> Origin to geometry.
In shade smooth step i got some weird shading, for me applying scale worked: On object mode Select object, CTRL+A -> Scale

learned in this almost 15 mnt tutorial what some long hours tutorials wont teach you, it covers modeling and lighting and also texturing wich is amazing because almost all other tutorials leave you unsatisfied with unpolished projects that make you thinks it's just crap when you finish them, Thank you
I tried this on my 2nd day. After a few hours of work, I messed up everything, so I had to stop.
It's day 6, and I just finished this after 4 hours of work, even adding a few objects myself. It was completely worth the time spent here
I am 14 and I did it in 2 hours
Some problems and answers I found in comment section:
+ 3:24 bevel doesn't work
check if your vertices didn't doubled:
Mesh > Clean Up > Merge by Distance
+ 5:07 it's zooming in/not doing what it supposed to do on video
click "o", then "g" and then scroll up/down. to get symmetrical results, press also "y"
+ 5:38 mirror modifier is not working
check, if your orgins are in right places (object mode, select object > right click > set orgin > orgin to geometry)
add in mirror modifier "Mirror object" > choose your bed
(I'll update it when I'll go further into the video)
thanks! you saved my day!
Thanks bro
Thanks for this simple yet amazing tutorial. Though it's only 15 minutes tutorial, I took more than 2 hours to finish this. I'm so happy the result is really good 😄

I love this style. When learning 3d modeling it's important to find tutorials with a graphical style that inspires you. And this one definitely does.
Took about 5 hours to make and render it and i have to say it was worth it. The tutorial is quite friendly and the comments of others strugling to find a solution also helped. Thank you so much for created this tutorial. "G"

Brilliant results though, definitely feel like I've learned loads thanks to this tutorial!
Can you give me a help? my bevel modifier is not working
Probably one of the best tutorials I've ever watched! SO easy to follow a long and the practice as helped me navigate Blender better :) Thank you!
the best thing about this tutorial is the amount of repetetive actions. You're working on different objects but actions are pretty similar which helps to actually remember them as opposed to just copying :D good work :D
at 5:14 if you can't do the S+Z+0 don't forget to disable the letter O on the keyboard

Great tutorial as far as I was able to reproduce it myself. This tutorial covers everything I need. I learned Blender 6 years ago in College. This is a great refresher and really helpful for my work on our booth design. I don't usually make 3d objects for my UI design projects in my whole career but this is so helpful for me to bring back to 3d modelling. Thanks!
This is the kind of tutorial that I love. Fast, clear and precise. 👍👍
