    Today, the 2022 Suzuki Vitara Turbo (FWD) was also previewed..It was timed at 8.22secs (0-100KPH)!! The AWD Vitara takes a further .40 secs to same speed and does the quarter mile in 16.32secs. I wouldn't be happy having forked out 45k for the Kona and the P-Plater in the Vitara smokes me at the lights every time! Just saying...

      @@user-vk4vd7vr5t well for one, the Kona is labelled as a 'small hot hatch SUV' whereas the Vitara is a small SUV. Still, going to get beaten every time!

    146kW? What is up with Hyundai. They appear to be de-tuning the 1.6 turbo engine.
    New Tucson turbo only has 13x kW down from the usual 150kW

      It's not detuned at all, it's up 20 hp from the previous 1.6. But the fact none of those who owned one had a clue it rates higher in HP than factory rating. Dyno on the old 1.6 t 193 whp, no tuning all stock. So 195 will most likely be over 200 plus. These are tunable engines.

      @@davidcosgrove2625 for the old Kona. I'm talking about the engine that's 150kW/265Nm in i30 N Line / Cerato GT etc. And I'm talking about factory, not Dyno which 95% of people won't do.
      Sheesh.

    Normaly the Kona 1.6 199 HP does the 0-100 in 7.5 sec. I don't know how you do it in 1 sec slower

      Yes, we were wondering the same thing. It seems the latest DCT calibration doesn’t really allow a quick/abrupt take off. Once it is off the line it feels much quicker than the time suggests. Hope that helps.

  • @beardedbiker
    @beardedbiker 3 роки тому +4

    Weird, isn’t this almost the same engine as a Cerato GT? But it’s about 2 seconds slower? The Kona is a bit heavier, but that’s quite a noticeable difference.

    • @PDriveTV
      @PDriveTV  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, we tried really hard to find quicker times with this one (ran about 7 different tests with the Vbox). But the transmission just doesn't cater for swift initial take-offs. It's obviously very quick through the gears, though. If it had launch control like the Sonata N Line, or if the transmission calibration was a bit more abrupt (like in the Kia), we have no doubt it could dip into 6.5-6.8 region.

      @@PDriveTV I guess they’re trying to provide a decent enough gap between the N-Line and the N, so customers are more inclined to go higher up the range, even though this car could be faster. Cheeky!

    • @PDriveTV
      @PDriveTV  3 роки тому +2

      @@beardedbiker Interesting point. We didn’t think of that! This car is pretty fast though, it’s just getting off the line it takes a second or so.

    • @beardedbiker
      @beardedbiker 3 роки тому +3

      @@PDriveTV Yeah that’s a fair point. I guess if people see on paper though that this does 0-100 in 6.5, and the N does 0-100 in 5.5, I think the majority would feel as though 6.5 is enough juice!

      @@beardedbiker I think you may have just hit the nail on the head. I have an '18 Kona DCT Turbo with only the 130kw version. I consistently hit 4.6-4.8 60-110km/h runs and low 7secs for 0-100km/h.
