I have used various brushes over the years, including sable brushes from W & N and others, but I have found that sable brushes seem to show wear fairly soon, no matter how carefully i try to look after them. Perhaps it's just me?
Now I use W & N 'Sceptre Gold' brushes, which are a sable - synthetic mix. I find they are very nearly as good as sable, but are more resilient; and also about half the price of sable

@@xTwilightWolvesx Well the materials & construction of all Sceptre Gold 11 brushes is the same, so just try a few sizes from about 000 to 4 or 5, plus a flat
Hi Robert, thanks for replying. I went ahead and kept the brushes I purchased last night. I used them for the first time and my #2 looks like yours but has one hair that's crooked. Not really happy about that given the price I paid.
Hey Albert, just as a follow-up, I reached out to Winsor & Newton... they did get back with me and where very helpful. They offered to replace the 2 brushes and I received one of the replacement brushes already, the other is on backorder and will arrive in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the review. I'm new to the hobby and purchased these same brushes but the non miniature at my local gaming store. Should I go back and exchange them for the miniature versions?
Hi Albert - So let me explain the differences between the two... The Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Brush Miniature line have shorter hairs vs the Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Brush line have longer hairs. It really comes down to preference and what you prefer. As for me I prefer the shorter hairs, I find it much easier to control the brush when painting. Very useful comment! I did mistake myself and ordered the wrong type. I will return it and get the miniature version which seem to fit more the purpose. Thanks!

dungeonlair thank you for this. I’ve just bought my first Series 7 brush in size 000, then spotted the same size was in miniature which threw me.
I agree too about good quality products adding to the pleasure experience. I can’t paint for toffee, but I enjoy dabbling.
The most advantage of High Quality brush is Fine tip and fine line drawing.
Q: I paint 1/35 figures. Which brush or brushes sizes should get it to start with ?
Probably a good start would be #1, #2, and #0 for finer details.
Bruh… if I could afford a series 7 of any kind, I wouldn’t even let it be in the same ROOM as acrylic paint😂

u know whats funny? im trying to buy extactly those brushes since two weeks, and i cant find them anywhere here in europe... theyre everywhere totally sold out. i guess its because the sanctions to russia, does the UK dont have enough supplies from the hairs 🤯
Don't buy these for miniature painting! You want the regular round Series 7, the non miniature series. The hairs are too short on these.
