I really like PDX. I'll be there next in January. My first trip of 2023 will basically start there. Of course I have to fly from home to there, but the reason for the trip begins in Portland.
Skylite Productions Have A Good Flight Well This Morning We Had 3 Cancelations 2 Alaska Airlines We're Diverted To Portland Aka PDX And Spokane Aka GEG
Thankfully I'm not flying around Seattle and Portland today. This was filmed some time ago. With the winter weather, they're having a wild time in the Pacific Northwest. If you're in that area, stay safe my friend!
WOWOWOWOW!!!! Stunning views!! You chose a good time to do this. The first 1-2 weeks of February tends to have clear skies. It may be warm, over 60. It may be bitterly cold down into the single digits, but it's dry and mostly sunny during this period. This is when the hard-core winter rains come to an end and the spring rains are about to begin. I call this time of year our mid-Winter Sun Break. It doesn't always work like this, but most years, it does. Anyhow, goods views of the Amtrak rail line coming into PDX. The Columbia River comes from Columbia Lake up in SE BC in the Columbia Valley. I've been there. The water in the lake is fed via the Canal Flats by the Kootenay River, which comes from the high mountains in Kootenay National Park (stunning views - I encourage you to visit it sometime).
Yes, I will be in Seattle and the area right at the end of January this year. The 26-29th.... So, although you motioned that it often snows in January, I'm hoping it'll be more like this haha. I didn't have much of a choice on this trip though. This trip is for the Q400 retirement. I'm booked on its final revenue flight and a few others the morning of. So, I wasn't at liberty to move my dates later into February haha.
Beautiful- when you’re on flights like this do you still marvel at the beauty or does get boring? Because for some people it does get boring. I don’t see how though.
Absolutely. I never get tired of seeing views like this. I don't understand how people can take flights like this or in Alaska, and they keep their windows closed.
I believe that's Mt. Adams you're seeing behind St Helens. On a clear day I bet you'd be able to see Rainier, but base don the direction we're flying, not in this video.
Great fly! "Alaska Airlines (Operated by Horizon Air)". Does that mean Alaska has a codeshare agreement with Horizon? I sometimes see you put the "airline name (Operated by airline name)" on the video description so I wonder the "Operated by" means codeshare agreement.
It’s similar but not the same thing. A codeshare is when you can buy a ticket on one airline, but it’s operated by a completely different airline. As in you buy a ticket from Tokyo to Dallas on American Airlines but the flight is operated by Japan Airlines. Two completely separate companies who work together on certain routes. So you’d have bought a ticket on Japan Airlines flight 12 but your ticket says the flight is American Airlines flight 6500. Codeshares are more alliance related, and again, two airlines who are completely separate working together. In this instance, or in other instances where you see me put (operated by…”) it’s not codeshare related. See Alaska Airlines owns Horizon Air. Just like American Airlines owns PSA Airlines, Envoy Air, and Piedmont Airlines. These airlines like Horizon Air and Envoy Air operate flights for their parent companies under those airlines regional brands. Alaska Horizon and American Eagle respectively. So they’re not operating codeshare flights, they’re operating actual Alaska Airlines and American Airlines flights as their regional brands. They’re still Alaska or American flights, just being operated by one of their regional affiliates. I hope that makes sense. It’s a bit complicated, but in the end they aren’t codeshare flights.
Well, you do bring up a good point that the scenery is pretty much all Washington state. My intent was to show that this was a landing in Portland and didn't think about Portland being right on the state line. At the moment, Washington won't fit in the title though since UA-cam limits titles to 100 characters haha. So we have a bit of a catch 22 here haha.
@@sla31 As soon as I saw that asymmetrical shape of the mountain and surveyed the other typographical features--such as the long slope of the laterally blasted away side of the mountain that was caused by the spectacular eruption in May 1980, and that immediately caused the massive and sudden melt of the snowcap, that was followed by the enormous landslide that was caused by the north face collapse, and then when I saw what is still left of Spirit Lake, I then knew that I was looking at Mount Saint Helens! Wow! What a view! That was a beautiful flight with "severe clear" visibility!
YESSSSSS!!!! I love seeing my Home airport in your videos. In my opinion it is one of the most under rated airports in the country

My goodness. Beautiful. I'll take some more arrival and departure videos to or from PDX!!
I'll be in Portland again soon. I'm hoping for good weather like this.
Nice vid. So sad to see them get retired early next year. But the ERJ will be cool, but the Q400 is just goated
Yes, indeed. I may or may not be booked on the final flight 😏.

Great job, man! Love the visuals.
Thanks my friend! Glad you enjoyed it!
Finally, my state!
Thanks for watching my friend!
Awesome!
Thanks for watching my friend!
Enjoy them while you can!
I plan to. I may or may not be booked on their current last flight 😁.
@@sla31 Do you know when is their last flight?
@@leezinke4351 January 26th GEG-SEA flight 2400.

Oops. That should Mt. St. Helens
Good flight when you going to do a Sav video again
At the moment I don’t have any plans to fly to SAV yet.
Was that Mount Hood behind Mt. St Helens? Is Mount Rainer too far away to see from Portland? Thanks.

Wrong state; all Washington except for the landing. Great view of what is left of Mt. Helens.

10:50 Wind turbine blades?
That's a good question. I'm not sure actually, but it sure does look like that. I'd say it is a good possibility that's what they are.
PDX video fail: No carpet. :(
Beginning at 1:06, was that Mount St. Helens?!
That is indeed Mt. St. Helens.
