I can't even keep track of how many times I fell asleep to this beauty of a track. It's basically my go to music when I'm struggling to fall asleep. Thank you so much for pouring your heart into this💙 NITW helped me through a very emotionally straining time. Moving abroad, fear of my uni experience becoming like Mae's, fear of my emotions taking over me, fear of people becoming nothing but shapes... While it was a way of escapism for me, it also helped me process these emotions. I'll never forget how devastated I was when I finished the game for the first time. NITW is always going to be one of my favourite games of all time.
This means the world to me. I have my own sleep aid tracks that I listen to. I don't know what I would do without them. Hearing that music I have shared is helping even one person in the same way... literally brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for telling me.
Your keeping this story alive brings this message to mind: Life goes on. Hard times come and they sting and they burn and sometimes they feel like they’ll never leave for better times. But once they’re over, life finally feels like it starts moving again. Life goes on. And things don’t always feel like they are at the very worst they could be. Even if there is underlying grief, things are not always horrible. Sometimes, they are okay, and that’s something. “At the end of everything, hold onto anything.” Life goes on… :)
Alec Holowka is one of the main reasons that I compose for piano, play piano, and NITW is the sole reason I moved from California to Pennsylvania. I love it here, I even visited where the game was based off of (Scott Benson said "Lewistown to Altoona"). I love it here and the game, you can really feel the resemblance. I hope Alec is happy knowing his music is loved.
This is weird but, this has unlocked so many good memories I had about this game in absolutely new way. I remembered my first playthrough on an old laptop when I still hadn't gone to college yet, and I remember those times when I used to get up early in the morning just to turn on some of my favourite tracks that Alec has masterfully done. I remembered how I, for the first time, watched Jacksepticeye's amazing let's play series of this game. The time I discovered NITW was simply easier time for me. It was full of many emotions and self-discoveries. Thanks for putting an incredible effort just to simply praise this game, after all of these years. People like you are inspiring me so much.
That is exactly why I do what I do. I want to help people tap into their emotions through storytelling and music. Hearing your memories is a treasure because I have my own in a similar fashion, and I think it's easy to see that NitW is full of its own memories from the creators, otherwise how could the story have such an impact on us? Thank you.
That was amazing dude! A little sad but I enjoyed it. I hope you do more of these. It would be awesome if you add some background noises like the woods or city ones from the game :3
Thank you, although I would say it's more hard work than talent. Alec created beautiful, thoughtful music, deceptively simple yet full of nostalgia. I've learned a lot from studying his work.
As someone who has also made piano covers of the NITW soundtrack, these renditions almost tugged at my heartstrings. You managed to capture the spirit of the game, while adding your own creative touches to the songs. You never cease to amaze us, Godin.
I don't know why but slow piano covers makes these songs sadder than they are like where's Casey For an example with how it perfectly captures the atmosphere when Mae's friends tell her how he's gone
@@WolfGodwin the most impactful thing about it is how if you listen closely you can hear his theme is other parts of the ost, for a character that's never shown outside of a missing poster there's a lot of references to him
thank you…. it really warms my heart to see you still so dedicated to this game. i discovered it almost right when it released on steam- i was literally only in middle school then, and i loved the game, but god i had no idea what it really meant back then. as a senior about to leave highschool now, i can only relate more to the messages of the game, and i’m sure i will even more in college. so i guess it’s nice to see that i’ll have some company in keeping this game so close to my heart over the years. thank you again
It seems like the game was there right when we needed it. I didn't play it until the pandemic started, and it made me realize how valuable people are, so full of life and stories. Hearing your stories and nostalgia is part of why I do this.
Thank you, but I promise there is much more hard work than talent here. Anyone can do what I'm doing if they dedicate enough effort and time. That is to say, if anyone else wanted to create things like this, just start slowly and improve over time. Thank you for watching!
Oh my, when i started to listen i wasnt expecting to get so emotional from this, this brought back many memories from when i first discovered the game via a finnish youtuber called mkgamerr who quit a year or so ago. When he made his playtrough of the game i was still in high school and those were easier times for me overall. Thank you for reminding me of these memories, this was really well done.
I really love this. I wish we had gotten to see NITW more in the winter. We really only got that one epilogue day. I wish we had several to kind of wrap things up, so it didn't feel so abrupt
This is beautiful, this game helped me when I needed it a while ago, and you're doing the same now. This along with the animation shorts really capture the nostalgic coziness feeling that NITW did almost 5 years ago. Thanks for this
Dammit this has made me wish it would snow even more. Your music is beautiful to listen to and I'm sure Alec Holowka would be proud to have seen his soundtrack inspire others.
hm ... this is quite calming indeed. i find it rather melancholy but i enjoy that kind of music. this really makes you think and ... i enjoyed it. it makes me think that ... how do i put this ... the 'rainclouds' ( you know what i mean ) will fade away soon

this is actually really good and mabye you could do a more positive one to combat the negative one using songs like "possum springs" and "gregg!" or other songs with more majors or just sound uplifting, but just a suggestion :)
Back with more creative work of art as always! Impressive as I imagined it was going to be! I figured you played piano, but man, I don't think I've actually heard you play full songs before! This is new and straight out of the ordinary for me.

All four songs are from the soundtrack, yes. Originally written by Alec Holowka. But when making piano versions the songs must be arranged to suit the one instrument. That's what I did, and played and recorded those arrangements.

Such a beautiful game and an even more poignant experience to play. I've thought about a sequel a lot throughout the years and I'm content without one. If it ever is decided to make a second; I hope it's with new characters. Some things aren't meant to have sequels; That's what AO3s for anyways! Gorgeous playing btw, loved it. Edit: Oh shit dude! That song is a gem, and so short! It's tucked away into little corners of other songs in the soundtrack, but I wanted to hear it on its own. Haunting.
