Thank you KC, am grateful for your insights, tips 4 and 5 were particularly helpful.
You are very welcome! I’m glad you found this video helpful!
You definitely had some very good tips since I've heard some of them from other Rolex fans. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
I thank you KC I would hope one day I can also get explorer. I will use your advice.
I hope you will be able to get one soon. The current 'crash' might just give you that edge to get it over the line!
Great video. I used similar strategies to get my pieces from the AD.
It is a highly sought after brand, so people need to be willing to play the chess game and enjoy the process!!
Thanks for the kind words!
I honestly think this whole game is a joke. Over the past 6 months I’ve come to the conclusion that I do not even want a Rolex anymore, due to these stupid games. I’ll continue to shop other brands.
Yes, I totally get it, and I kinda feel the same too. I've been leaning over to the Tudor brand which is exactly what Rolex wants 🫣
I stopped watching this the moment you said I have to dress nice ...OMG
Perhaps I should have put the strongest point up front. Thanks for the feedback Andy.
I think your advice is great. Thank you for sharing your experiences
Agree. Gmt and daytona will have other specific approvals necessary. But other than that, there is nothing really stopping an SA from selling you any given watch if its available.
But sometimes your SA fully meeting their sales quota is better than when they need to make it up. You are never getting a watch without bundling if they need quota.
Shouldn’t have to be playing games with the ADs. Just because this is the reality doesn’t mean Rolex should be allowing this behaviour. It’s slowly damaging their brand
I do not disagree with you here. Whilst I don’t endorse it, it is the sad reality we live in. Let’s hope things will get back to normal one day …
My AD also sells high end jewelry and I love my luxury jewelry but goal wasn't to get a sports Rolex. I visited the Rolex counter towards end of Oct and was offerred a black sub without looking at my purchase history. I declined at the time the I visited and bought a high price piece of jewelry mid-March. I got a other call on the 31st for another black sub, which I took. It seems to coincide with end of the month as you mentioned.
Thanks for confirming! And congratulations on finally picking up the Sub!
My number one tip is to become a frequent customer. It doesn’t have to be for big things; birthdays, graduations, first communion, anniversaries, Christmas etc etc. If you visit your AD often and buy non Rolex stuff they will call you for Rolex. You are going to buy this stuff anyway so just funnel it to your local AD and always use the same Salesperson. I also write a hand written thank you note each time I get a new Rolex!
Great advice Brian 👍🏻
I totally agree with Brian.
couldn't see myself own any tudor... but I respect the brand.....I am here to learn how to hack the price from purchasing a rolex ...
I hope you will be able to get hold of the Rolex you want soon 🫡
3:36 🤣🤣
I thought I went into a magic shop then 🤣
The AD message at 4:44 is just weird. It even looks they’re trying to use you to offload unwanted stuff.
I think so…
I agree with #2 especially. I have never been asked to buy jewelry or non-Rolex. That was very bold of your AD to directly say you need to spend an extra $4-5K. I thought they would be much more subtle about it, or do it under the table. I thought Rolex HQ would not look kindly on this practice in the US. It smells like bribery.
Even rolex isnt naive enough to think ADs are maintaining literal wait lists.
@@aussieexpatwatches I know of at least 5 Rolex ADs in the USA that keep waiting lists of known buyers and allocate in order of request. This type of AD is EXTREMELY rare at this point. Texas has one of those ADs BTW. Find it!
@@cashinhand i had a local ad that said the same thing. Until they eventually said you can have anything you want.
So if i walk into my local ad and say "im looking for my first watch, my budget is around 70k" they will tell me "youll need to buy some jewlery first my good man"?
For Rolex/AP/PP, probably yes. But for anything else, you will probably be in good hands 😂
@@KCTimeShare I could understand that if someone was trying to buy something for around 10k. But 70 to 90k I feel they would be more willing to work with you. I guess in the end it comes down to the intent of the watch and the whole reason you want one.
With regards to "dressing up" during a visit to the AD, I've found the watch you wear to be more important than the actual clothes.
Oh yes 100% , it would be a good convo starter too!
I'm planning to go first time. I only have an Apple watch. Am I getting kicked out? Like, can i be honest with them about this?@@KCTimeShare
What microphone are you using? It sounds compressed and the result of over noise cancelling?
I am using the Rode Lavalier GO mic currently. You are right, I am editing using iMovie and used the build in 'reduce background noise' function which probably caused the compression.
Your audio is awesome, can you recommend some mics for me to help me improve please?
@@KCTimeShare the rode mic is great. Just dont use the noise filter unless absolutely necessary.
@@aussieexpatwatches My MacBook Pro makes a lot of noise from the fan which always gets picked up by the mic hence the noise cancellation 😢
@@KCTimeShare ok, then a more directional mic like a Condenser microphone or even a shotgun mic may improve things.
But perhaps move to davinci resolve. It has more advanced audio handling and may be able to give you enough cancelling without a much distortion.
Last but not least, perhaps point a large fan at low speed at your macbook. It won't be zero noise but larger fans are much less noisy.
Thanks so much for the tips! 🙏
I choose to spend on a different brand.
You are wise!
It also helps if you're older, more mature. Yes anyone can buy a Rolex but most AD's want to sell to people that are of age and know they are not going to sell their watches. In other words walk in and inquire after you're 35-40 years of age. Your chances of a rep taking you serious is greater than being a kid and asking for a Submariner or GMT. They want clients that keep and wear their watches. Rolex want their clientele to be people who are established, professionals, mature, settled. So don't walk into an AD looking like a crypto bro, spoiled rich kid, or wearing sports attire. Rolex wants their brand to be aspirational, something you work for, and accomplish. Yes they do see young people as "not old enough" to own a Rolex. I'm 49 and inquired about a Day Date. I said I want to purchase one when I turn 60/65... 10-15 years from now. The sales rep told me. "That's how it usually goes, you are 49, you are still young for a Day Date". I told my rep, I agree. I feel like I need to work more and earn my President. I still need to accomplish more life milestones. Then I'll get my grail to complete my Rolex collection and one and done watch. It also helps if you stay with your AD. Start with a Date Just or walk in with an older luxury time piece. Let the AD know I've been into this brand this long. Now I'm ready for my first Rolex. Where can should I start. Explain what you do, what's your lifestyle, and what you do for a living.
These are all very good advice! Really appreciate your detailed input here! I am not sure if 49 is too “young” for a DD though, I personally would think it is okay as long as one is financially ready, but that’s just my 2 cents 👌🏼
@@KCTimeShare Financially ready and stable when buying a DD at retail. Pre-owned you can get one $10k - $15K less. The way I see it if you're financially ready for one at a young age and you wear it to work where upper management don't wear high end watches? That doesn't look good and people in the workplace will talk. It's different when you've been at a job or career for a long time and you wear one to work. Even a young CEO wearing a DD.... It doesn't look good, it looks like your showing off. As opposed to an older gentlemen wearing a DD.
Right, I see where you are getting at now. There is only one solution to it, go for a white gold/platinum DD 😂
I don’t understand why people who are otherwise successful in life degrade themselves by sucking up to a salesperson so they can be afforded the ‘honour’ of being permitted to buy a trinket. And that is what a watch is, just a trinket. Yes, we love them but self respect is far more valuable. If I have to explain to a salesperson what my career is and what my lifestyle is before I can buy a watch then I don’t want it at any price. In other news, I’m almost old enough to buy a DD. Does anyone know where I can get one cheap?
Is kc like kansas city?
Nope, that’s my name 👍🏼
lol that's what I thought too!
Which country are your ADs located?
United Kingdom!
100% on the bundling. Theres no exact math for bundles, its really about their quotas.
... and your luck 🥹
So, step 1: Wear your existing Rolex watch. Damn!
The chicken & egg problem, failed step 1 already 😂
Just pay grey market prices and get your watch now.
Might as well bite the bullet given how difficult it is to get a Rolex from an AD now...
@@KCTimeShare I walked into an AD 6 years ago and had my choice of a Batman or Hulk. I had no idea what was to come just a few months later.
If only we could go back in time 🥲
Getting permission to spend thousands of dollars is nasty work
I agree 😞
Why screw with Rolex when a quatz from seiko is cheaper and more accurate? Horology, sure, but why play games with Rolex?
A very good question! I guess it is just human nature to chase what we can’t get?!
If the watch is in the case, its for sale.
This is true, even watches that say "not for sale". Not for sale watches can be sold after 6 months of being displayed.
This is what I understood too. In fact, I already made a video about the truth about exhibition pieces stating exactly that. Thanks for confirming my finding.
Get a Super clone that’s 95% the same and call it a day.
I’m against clone myself
@@KCTimeShare I'm against playing games with a salesperson when I have the money to buy what I want. Rolex is not even a rare brand like that.
I dont even talk about watches half of the visits.
Same here, SAs are probably bored of watches since they handle watches day in day out!
Agree. Usually talk about cars, holidays, the wife but very little about watches.
I wear trash. And ive seen other VIPs wear hawain shirts and shorts...
Oh totally, I get that. My point is more on the first impression, to a new AD/SA.
Please allow me to make an analogy, when you interview for a job at an IB (which I believe is the sector that you are in?), you would wear a tie, suit etc, but once you got in, it is just shirts and trousers all day 😏
The VIPs might well have dressed well at the "interview" which we don't see, but once they are "in", they can wear whatever they want. But of course, there are always exceptions and these are just my observations.
Pay to play. Come on man
Fair enough 😄
What's the big deal? Not worth the effort n hassle.
Rolex look downright boring, sterile and inspiring.
Uninspiring I meant
Fair enough, Russell. Looks like Rolex isn't your cup of tea which I do respect 👍🏼
Stop lying if you have money they will order you one and also check with other AD
I think you will soon find out that you cannot just 'order' a Rolex watch ...
