I’ve loved this since I first heard it when the first LP was released in April ‘77 and I had just turned 14 years old. I’m 58 now and I still love this track! Pure excitement! I saw them live 11 times back then.
If I could time travel, I would just want to go see all my favorite musicians play live. Can you imagine be present for this moment, the year punk broke, 1977?
So good, it's shame that I'm too young to have seen them live. I've only ever came across one live band that have put a decent effort towards recreating this punk energy, if only there were more like them.
I know I like the video recordings of the Clash live. I wish I could have seen and heard them. But I have ever record and know you're right. They must have rocked live.
listen to me Iv'e seen most punk bands under the sun ....I seen the the clash 1980 London calling tour in the Apollo in Glasgow I can confirm Best Ever R.I.P. JOE STRUMMER Long Live the Clash
Mick Hucknall was at this gig...you can spot him in the footage of Garageland from this same Channel 4 Punk documentary...fronted by the late great Tony Wilson
"he's in love in r'n'r whooo he's in love with getting stoned whoo he's in love with janie jones whoo but he don't like his boring job now" simple. brilliant. effective. a question: does today exist a band that talks to young boys like this?
I think when all avenue are closed the founding fathers of heaven and Earth would be Rock star and poets and still the disaffected and druggard. In audience with the Titans holding the world on a scaffold in their absence. Beating and bloody from their wounds which they suffered at the needles point of Mount Olympus.
Well, since the clash were already playing together after the ramones made it in the UK i'd have to disagree. The ramones did inspire a lot of bands and they helped boost the whole punk movement. Thats like saying that without MC5 the ramones would be another lost poster bill.
He's in love with rock'n'roll woaahh He's in love with gettin' stoned woaahh He's in love with Janie Jones But he don't like his boring job, no... An' he knows what he's got to do So he knows he's gonna have fun with you You lucky lady! An' he knows when the evening comes When his job is done he'll be over in his car for you
oh to be 16 again. 51 now but when i hear this for a few moments im 16 again. where does it go.
doesgodcareanymore I’m 16 been growing up listening to the clash/Ramones
Hey - same age. We were lucky - that experience will never be repeated. Be good to experience it again though 😉👍✌️
Same age same desires
This is a blitzkrieg attack. This is pure punk rock. Raw power!
10/10 my favorite Clash song!
Long time Clash fan. Stumbled upon this recently…Brilliant!!! 🍻☮️

Yeah, totally agree. 2.09 of pop perfection.
If I could time travel, I would just want to go see all my favorite musicians play live. Can you imagine be present for this moment, the year punk broke, 1977?
I was! I saw them live 11 times. The first as a 14 year old in 1977.
77, 78 x 2, 80, 84
Punk broke in 1976.
this song goes so hard
What an awesome clip this is. The Clash(!) in Manchester(!) in 1977(!) playing Janie Jones(!). What an important, timeless band. R.I.P. John Mellor.
So good, it's shame that I'm too young to have seen them live. I've only ever came across one live band that have put a decent effort towards recreating this punk energy, if only there were more like them.
Too right mate!
Watching this makes everyone hate their boring job.
Unless you are a mindless drone, you have to feel alive listening to such music.
still get goosebumps
It's a fucking miracle this lot didn't just explode into one gigantic fireball when they played. Fucking immense! You're much missed, Joe.
Saw them 2yrs later at the Apollo..
I agree. There's never been anyone better and there probably never will. The greatest rock n roll band ever
The Clash was the best, what an awesome live version. If i could get this show on DVD I'd buy it in a second.
i was there i was 15 the time of my life

I am in love with the only band that matters whoaa!!
I know I like the video recordings of the Clash live. I wish I could have seen and heard them. But I have ever record and know you're right. They must have rocked live.
Aye,superb.
Incendiary stuff!!! If only most modern bands had 10% of that verve and fury.
I'm near stage 2 rows back pogoing away ❤

Oh my god, this looks like it's been sped up. Especially Joe.
Great song by a great band.

Curtido por xcarlos geração X anos 80 momento punk de Fortaleza
@RIGUSGACA
yeah me too!!! I play the bass and love playing and singing this!
My ears feel good now.
yeaHhhh
Strummer always spitting those lyrics just as if it was Matter of life or death
She was from Seaham :D
Anyone noticed Strummer's not carrying a guitar? When did he start playing a guitar live?
He has one in later videos of this concert. As or the latter part of your question, I'm sorry, I don't know.
Yeah it's a one guitar song.*****
he always played, since the 101ers. but in some songs it wasn't necessary, as in this case, a second guitar would not add much
最高
Kick Ass! Fucking Nice Video
Miss you Joe! Ohhhhhhhh Paul how I want thee!!
Raw
he knows he's gonna have fun with you, you lucky lady
That time when The Clash sounded more Ramon than Ramones themselves.
And nowadays, The Let's Go's sound more like Ramones than Ramones. But still love 'em.
When i was 16y i sad: i want to do the same thing, but with more overdrive XD
Respect forever!
He's in love with rock n roll woaahh .he's in love with gettin stoned woaahhhh..... :D
Topper Headon
this owns techno:D
The Clash were inspired by The Ramones, but that doesn't make them inferior. Neither band sustained the brilliance of their first couple of years.
nice bass.
"The only band That Matters"
Janie Seaham Lass 👍
It doesnt get any better than this gentelmen.
Punks not dead yet.
Proper punk, real punk.....not Green Day!!!! I lovd touring London watching The Clash night after night!!
Californication :D
Pipedown why?
Oh, like the clash song!
Joe must have been absolutely knackered after every show.
Punks not dead !!!
"he's in love in r'n'r whooo

simple. brilliant. effective.
a question: does today exist a band that talks to young boys like this?
@kevsaunders33 never a true word.....THE GREATEST ROK N ROLL BAND EVER.
Is it the earliest Clash gig recorded on camera?
I was 20teen....

Struggling to keep up with their recently acquired drum action model
he's got a Ford Cortina and it just won't run without fuel. Fill 'er up Jacko

ジョーカッケーな
Californication

Against Me! Did a great job with this one
what an underrated frontman is joe
vintage clash very ironic at the present moment with all thats going on in government with all them crooks.
Probably yeah, i'm sure that some kids have their own versions of the clash.
John Lennon once said that the Beatles were bigger than Jesus. Its too bad later on, Punk rock would be bigger than the Beatles.
we wish lol not even close unfortunately
John lennon is a cunt. The Clash pisses all over them. Fuck off beatles n stones
God bless joe
too hard to answer for you?
Fill her up Jacko!
Joe apparently said in the later years it was 'fill her up, check oil'. I was listening out for it here but he skipped that bit
a pobear¡aarrrrrr!!!! carajo!
Ah, the time when Paul still sucked at bass...wouldn't last long after that though!
no p or o in his alphabetical file
I think Joe had a couple too many espressos.
didn't you know he is dead????
He's in love with rock'n'roll woaahh
He's in love with gettin' stoned woaahh
He's in love with Janie Jones
But he don't like his boring job, no...
An' he knows what he's got to do
So he knows he's gonna have fun with you
You lucky lady!
An' he knows when the evening comes
When his job is done he'll be over in his car for you
I don't like my boring job either.
