I have never had a problem with freezing nuts. I do it all the time when it gets hot and humid, even in the winter I will throw bags of nuts in the freezer. I also put chocolate chips in the freezer to store also. Have a great day!!

It's recommended to freeze them, especially for longterm storage, anyway. The oils in nuts will go rancid if they are kept room temperature long enough.

Hi, Amy. I have processed corn nuts, nuts, chips for coatings on chicken and pork. Great idea for garbage snack mix up. I wish I had known this when my kids were young and had all their friends eating at our house. I moved from Nebraska to Georgia when I retired and I love the warm, hot weather too. Enjoy all your videos. Blessings to you all.

You took the markers (except for a couple) out of the drawer in the butlers pantry and said you were going to put them upstairs in your office. I’m sure you have found them by now but just in case you didn’t. I do stuff like that all the time. I change where I’m keeping something and then can’t remember where I moved it to.

The fruit salsa would be awesome over vanilla ice cream, yogurt or cottage cheese. Yum. I love the no bake cookies. Been making them for years. One of our sons actually asks for a batch for a Christmas present. The neighborhood critter would have had a field day with your garbage bag snack mix! What a great idea.

Garbage bag snacks are great! The bag is simply the vessel used to put it all together. You showed you do not store the food in it 😊 No worries!
That corner you had the freezer in would make a great "Maxine Zone" or put your coffee bar there. I loved the idea someone else had mentioned about a bakers rack for all your cookbooks there as well. You could hang a couple of your favorite aprons off it too!
I hope you had a great rest of your day as well! May you Be Blessed Beyond Belief!!!

My Mom used to make “Wilted Lettuce” very similar to your warm spinach salad. I love both! Her recipe used white vinegar and a Tablespoon of sugar instead of red wine vinegar. Adding it to the menu this week. My older children used to love the fruit salsa and cinnamon chips, but I haven’t made it for years. Time to bring some old recipes back in the mix! Thanks for the inspiration. 🤍

I do miss the Bears. Especially when you use the Smoker. No Bears in the suburbs but it’s a joyful life for you all. I’ve never had a problem with Flours in the heat as long as in a good container. If there’s excess that’s long term storage either Vacuum Seal or any Air Tight Container with oxygen absorbers.

One of my favorite recipes that I Mom used to make was a spinach salad with sliced hard-boiled eggs, slivered red onion, bacon piece and optionally sliced baby Bella mushrooms. The dressing was a warm honey Dijon vinaigrette with a little of the warm bacon grease added to it. It was my absolute favorite. I think I need to make it soon! Thanks for the idea Amy 🥰. I’ll few closer to my mom when I make it! She’ll be smiling up there in heaven when she sees me make it.

That garbage bag is a lot better to mix food in than buying a 13 gallon bowl that you'll use once every 5 years 😂😂 don't worry, we use to cut up our watermelons in a garbage bag to keep all of the juice and seeds from going everywhere and causing ants! I survived that, I'm sure your snacks are just fine 😂 shocker, I still drink out of the water hose, so I'm pretty much immune to everything 🤣

Your snacks look great! I am glad you are able to appreciate the weather. It can be hard if you had to adjust a lot. I know they keep talking about a heat wave, but I have lived my whole life in Texas and it is just normal. Not every year is as hot as the previous and those can be nice. This is a more normal Texas summer I think. The change I have noticed in Texas, that differs greatly from my youth is how much colder we get now than we ever did in my first 40 years. The last 10 years it has been getting a little colder each winter. My first 40 we never really got below 30 - 32 degrees. That was our coldest. The we started dropping to 28 and then 25 and like 5 years ago we started getting down to 17 and and 14 degrees at the coldest. Then Snowmageddon hit in 2021 and we literally got down to zero without power for long parts of the day. I was just grateful we had any power at all as many didn't. The idea of ice and snow solidly covering the ground for 5 days plus is just unheard of let alone temps less than 10 degrees. I hit the sporting goods store the first chance I had after being able to get out and drive and got new headlamp type lights. Battery operated lamps, batteries for the lamps, tea lite type candles and crank chargers for phones, etc. I was not going through another round of that wondering if I would have a charged phone if I needed it or able to at least just read while tucked in bed because it was too cold in the house to walk around much. I will take my normal Texas summer any day over that. I just love that you are enjoying the new and adjusting to it. Be sure to stay hydrated. The dehydration is real. I went into one of our chain gas stations last weekend for a LARGE ice tea and when I went to the counter to pay, the guy just said have a nice day. He didn't even charge me and it wasn't even one of our hottest days. 😀

Good morning. As far as your trash cans, figure out what kind of animals they are. U may want to keep them in the garage till trash day. If that is not a possibility, there r so many natural repellants like peppermint oil, vinegar, euphalipis, and others. Grated irish spring around it or on top of the lid. All work good and are not harmful to the animals or the environment. 😊

Living in Florida is very different than where you came from. I too live in the Tampa bay area and I believe you’re just south of me. For me, I freeze all nuts, the usual, butter, cheese, milk, bread. I keep potatoes, onions and jgarlic and most of fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator. I think the problem is the heat and humidity really wreaks havoc on your fruits and vegetables and nuts. Perhaps you can move your coffe stuff to the wall where your freezer was. That would free up your counter space.

Good morning Amy! Now that you only have 6 kids at home have you noticed that you will start making smaller meals and not buying as much? I know with my family as they started growing up and moving out that I had to learn to make smaller amounts of food because we would get tired of eating leftovers. I never had as many as you did for sure. Now it’s just me and my husband and if I get a big box of snacks from Sam’s we get tired of it quicker. It’s like you have to learn to cook all over again! Lol. Hope y’all have a great day! Sweet Maxine is adjusting good to her new home!

Goodmorning Amy and company! Just some info regarding window blinds. I purchased some years ago blinds that were single cell blinds and had a foil type backing that made for room darkening shades. This kept the rooms cooler when sun came in windows. Not sure if they exist anymore just a thought. Also the site I used was “Steves Blinds” i believe. Thanks for brightening my day! You all are awesome!

I wonder if corn nuts would be good in peanut brittle or puppy chow.

When I lived in an area with a lot of bears, we had special bear proof garbage cans.

Hey Amy, I'm afraid we're going to have a really hot summer this year! Not going to it is already very hot. Yes, you need to put your nuts or anything that has a lot of oil in them and the refrigerator or better freezer. That way they won't go rancid. if you have oil that you don't use often you have a lot of it that could go in the refrigerator to.
