Jocelyn seems to find joy in what she's doing. We don't see enough of that in jazz these days. The musicians she works with are also exceptional. Jazz at its best.
Most people don't realize how much study and work it takes to get to this level of playing. I'm 81 and still studying . I staryed playing at 14. It takes a lifetime. .
Came here after seeing Jocelyn on That Pedal Show. Really awesome. Would enjoy seeing her and the band live if they ever played Ontario north of Toronto.
Just seen your interview on TPS and came over to to your channel to check out you playing , and oh my! This was the first piece that came up and wow, such beautiful playing and what a group with you, truly wonderful musicians, playing with delicate touch and feeling. Lovely!
After first listening to her last week, I discovered she won a Juneau award in Canada for best Jazz Ablum, played a lot in Winnipeg, home of Lenny Breau, Randy Bachman, “I can’t stop listening to her”
I am a hobby guitarist playing at home with different cord shapes and trying to match them up to make music is very interesting and there are numerous chords out there I have not found the lost chord yet and changing to a different guitar and amp changes the whole feel of the music. I am 71 and enjoy my guitar.
I put this video on as background music while I read Hamlet. I was compelled to put down Shakespeare and direct my attention to this beautiful performance
Nice to hear a double bass still sound like an acoustic instrument , so often today the big bass is amplified to the point of losing the timbre of the instrument ,,GREAT band , and the guitar WOW 🔥🔥🔥
Amazing! I used to play bass when I was a college student, so I listened to the bass player first, but I thought he is a great bass player. Of course I was also impressed with your guitar playing. I look forward to listen to the next your performance on UA-cam. Of course I would love to hear your live performance if I'm in America. Thanks for your amazing performance.
GREAT QUARTET and ARRANGEMENT on a Wes Montgonery Classic! 🌟🎶🌟 FABULOUS Solos by Rodney and Will and LOVE your Chord Melody and BEAUTIFUL tone Jocelyn! 👋🎸👋

Hi Joycelyn - you should post mpre videos! You are amazing jazz artist and hope you play in the Maryland, Baltimore, Washington DC area so I wan watch your band! For a mere mortal hobbyist like me watching learning from you is a treasure! Cheers!
I am in awe of all this talent in one room! Great sound Jocelyn! Curious about what brand of guitar are you playing? It looks and sounds great! You inspire me to pick up my guitar again. Thank you.
Just saw her solo with 3 other great guitarists at the International Guitar Festival and talked to her after the show. Nice, personable chat. Think her move to singing is a good move. The challenge for any new singer, jazz or otherwise, is to develop their own signature sound. If you've seen the movie about Ray Charles where I think it was Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegan in the recording studio where Ahmet says to Ray something like, "you have a good voice but you need to find your own sound". Which of course Ray did. Think this applies to Jocelyn as well. Lots of raw talent there and the good news is that she is young enough and has time to develop that. Love her octave work. Told her so during our chat.
I can't fathom what it must be like to be playing in front of Rodney Whittaker & Quincy Davis. One of THE best rhythm sections in the buisness. Not like there's no pressure or anything...🙄
Love the playing overall, and the guitar tone. :) Just discovered you and will like/subscribe. Minor quibble: The intonation in the bass is pretty far out, man. 😉

We're never done learning!
I dare say guitar is more difficult than piano (for me)
It's all about the journey... remain teachable always.
Eager to knowledge is kind of love. @@donny_doyle

Minor quibble: The intonation in the bass is pretty far out, man. 😉
Intonation "in" that bass? Huh? You know that fretless instruments are intimated by the player, and his was absolutely fine.
Well this could qualify for the Most Boring into. to a piece of music ever....!
Thanks so much!

Emily was one of the best! Her story was sad and it was way too soon.
