I would never be with him again, I don’t miss him, but... I did at one point. That will never go away, what we had will never go away. That’s with any ex I’ve spent time with. Like when ppl break up and try to tear that person down, like I might be angry now... but what we shared was special at one point in my life & I did love you. And that alone makes you apart Of me forever because it helped mold who I am. And regardless of my pain, anger, or whatever that person made me feel in the end. I don't even know my current man's ex girl, but if she passed away, honestly I'd probably shed a tear as well. Death is sad, wtf. And I would definitely understand why he'd be sad. Someone he shared 8 years of his life with passed on? I'd be concerned if it didn't upset him.

I feel like Adrienne contradicted herself when she said she didn't need a man to protect and provide but she needed him for "love, kindness, loyalty, faithfulness, companionship, etc" - that is providing. Providing doesn't solely mean financially protection doesn't always mean physically. I speak as a married woman who needs her husband for more than money and a bodyguard. It is my opinion that a lot people (both men and women) only have surface level understanding of the terms "providing, protecting, submitting" which is very superficial. My husband and I talk about things like this often and honestly I completely understand the statement of "if you're so independent what do you need me for?" I think a lot of women don't realize OR don't like the fact that men have wants/needs/desires too. Also he NEVER said if she is too independent then she is "useless" to him in a relationship. Loni took his words and twisted it to make HER point and I don't rock with that.

Bonus (because i'm typing while listening) the clip talking about the Rihanna meme is surprising to me too. If you had a connection with somebody and you had feelings for them and they pass you have every right to morn that loss. Again we are all connected and if you believe in things like soul ties and every exchange then people you deal with don't just wear off of you just because you are in a new relationship. And the idea that you crying over a person passing meaning you are still in love with this is absurd. People can just honestly hope the other is doing well without wanting to present for it.

in regards to the " Ri Ri" part of this video, I recently had a similar situation with a woman I had been dating for 6 months and had left her husband of 20 years, with an additional 6 months that had passed even before that. She professed her love and devotion to me on countless occasions and repeatedly denounced any feeling for him whenever the subject came up in regards to taking the steps in filing for separation and then eventually divorce. When he finally came clean that he had also been seeing someone new ( who was also 15 years younger than her ) she was utterly devastated and cried for days afterwards. It was at this point after several discussions between us, that she was uncertain about her true feelings for me, even though she insisted that despite her reaction to him saying he was now with someone new, she had no residual feelings for him at all, it was simply a matter of her being hurt that it was finally over between them.

It took him five years to start getting to where he could see himself happier without her, and I know deep down he still wanted things to work out even now. You have the right to mourn the loss and let that mourning run it’s course, because when you love someone and the relationship ends, it is like someone died, especially with that much time invested. Asserting/acquiring extreme independence is often a byproduct of having trusted and counted on others, only to have been grately dissapointed and/ or the absence of an individuals altogether for the opportunity to try. Some of us truly are independent based on acceptance. Meaning, it just is what it is. We don't "long" for bonding, but it's nice/cool if it shows up. I do not believe that in this life we are entitled to companionship or "romantic" love, nor that without it, life is "unfulfilling".
