Very first clothing item I sold on eBay was a Carhardtt jacket I bought for $8 and sold for $90. Addiction set in after that!
Yup! That’ll do it!
I am really liking your videos. You are inspiring me. So now it's Tech, Mel, and Carrie as my fave coaches. Thanks, Carrie
Glad you like them!
nice, could you elaborate on whom Mel is please and thx
@@belindamelville7756 Mel is Back From Burnout on UA-cam!
@@belindamelville7756 She's Back From Burnout. Bookseller from Australia. She's been on Tech's podcasts I think 4 times.
For boxes…try asking at a local university or college book store (especially before Sep) I did that once and got a bunch of same sized binder boxes for moving. Nice and clean :)
I hang my dress shirts but first i put 3 or 4 of them together and put a plastic bag over them to protect from dust and then I tie the bottom of the bag so nothing can get inside. I label the bag and hang it up in storage until someone buys a shirt. Then I fold it and package it...sometimes when a shirt is folded and kept in storage for a long time those fold lines are hard to get out even with ironing...that's why I hang them and fold when I ship out.
when I use to hang my inventory, it was amazing. it's so convenient.
I appreciate the videos you are putting out. Showing this process answered questions I've had.
Thank you for the motivation ❤
Happy to help!
I’m loving this series!😊 as I need to list a large death pile I’ve been accumulating and start growing
I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
Just love watching this series and more! Thank you for sharing!
You live in such a good area for sourcing. I'm on the East Coast , NC and would love to have that kind of good sourcing here. I do what I can with what we have. And always inspired by what you find. 😊
Hahaha i have a creepy laundry room too!!! Excited to watch the rest of this video, thank you Carrie! 🥰
Lol yay I’m not alone! 😄
Yes I would love to have the links to both of your stores!
I added the rags to riches shirt store to the description!
Really enjoy watching you build this new business. Mine is still less than a year old, so I'm getting lots of good ideas and kicking myself for not doing things a little differently in the beginning. I use recycled moving boxes (Pen + Gear 17L x11H x13W) from Wal-Mart for my inventory. Not free, but only $1.00, so they don't break the budget! They're probably not the strongest in the world, but I find they work fine for clothing.
Great vid as always! You guys were one of the main sources of inspiration for me to start taking my online reselling business more serious and start documenting my journey online as well. Thank you for all the amazing free info and content you post and for being such a huge inspiration to people! Much kudos and respect from Louisiana!
Best of luck! That's amazing!
@@carrieathome thank you so much 🙏
I store all of my inventory in beer boxes. I am a huge craft beer fan so its a fun art for me to look at too LOL. I get excited when I find one of my favorite beers. I just ask at the store, they have huge mounds by the checkout and they never mind if you take a few :) They are the perfect size and very strong as they normally hold liquid / glass
That’s soo fun!
hobby lobby for boxes, i used to work there, they have tons of boxes on truck day, just call them to know when are they having truck, and I recommend to go around 12pm - 4pm
Yay! Moving along just right;-)
walmart has cheap shipping boxes that i use for storage
For boxes go to large apartment building complexes and check their recycling area outside for Amazon and other shipping boxes I live in a 7 story building with seniors and there is no shortage of boxes of all shapes and sizes. And it’s a pet friendly building so plenty of Chewy boxes that are sturdy.
Thanks!
New carrie vid less goooo
It took me 3 years to find a rhoback and you already found one! You're going places! Good job!
Hope so!
See if local accounting offices or banks have paper boxes. They are built pretty well to hold heavy paper.
I have those strip led lights too and love them!
Once the series is finished, I’m going to replace our big box lights with these 🙌
Chris Lin (daily refinement) popularized the LED strip lights a few years ago. We traded out the huge box lights and wimpy tripods.. one of the BEST investments in infrastructure we’ve ever made!! They seem somewhat delicate so treat them gingerly.
Thx Carrie, nice channel, you are an overnight sensation. Content is great, and it helps to be very photogenic so take advantage of it while you can.
Most of all, thanks for not sacrificing your most important blessings to the government indoctrination camps, and choosing to homeschooling your little urchins. “The hand that (stays at home and) rocks the cradle rules the world.”
Do you have a friend or family member that works in an office? My friend saves copy paper boxes from her office for me. I like how sturdy they are
I love your videos. You seem so calm and take things in stride unlike the others who are driven and somewhat mad. You make things seem more achievable and believable for everyday folks. I do have a question for you however since you got me on selling pants nowaday, what size boxes do you use for storing all of the pants on your shelves? Thanks
Thank you! The boxes is use are 24x10x8
Boxes are usually a little cleaner at the liquor store. I don’t know if you guys have separate liquor stores from grocery stores, but where I grew up we used to have state run liquor stores. It’s all the same store now.
Thank you!
Great video content , thanks for sharing 👍
I request boxes by posting on my community page on Facebook . I get tons of Amazon boxes and bubble mailers every month from several people who love recycling. Win win for us all.
Wow! You are really stepping it up listing 15 a day. Great job!
2/day! I did 15 for two days to get the bulk of my items up on the store :)
I get milk boxes from my local grocery store for free and put my inventory number straight on my poly mailer.
Can you please put a link to the lights ? I need some and they look great !!
Just added a link in the description!
I hung up tops on a few racks until I had 1000 items in my store. I would have continued hanging if I had the space because it was so much easier to put away and pull items.
See I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this method but I’m just not understanding it 😖
Oh, please, talk more about selling on Facebook market. I have bigger, heavier things I could sell on there. Tyvm 💕
It was my last attempt to get the Carhartt sold in this heat lol
I watched a resellers video who relies heavily on graphs. She noticed that 80% of her profits (not sales) on purses and jeans. She decided to focus on those two catagories while sourcing. She had more time to hit more stores each day because she wasnt scanning every rack. I tried the same strategy for my catagories. I doubled my ASP and halved my listings (and everything else involved). It was VERY VERY hard to not buy everything. I can see that shirts will be a good lesson for your viewers. There is a lot of money in that catagory.!!!! You will be ready for an assisant soon.
I love focusing on one category at a time! Makes it so much easier to learn and grow that way.
That is what i did for 30 years. Now i am an expert in all things. The challenge is to stay current on trends so I watch or listen to videos. @@carrieathome
Are you happy with the lights you got? Are they working for jeans too? I need better lighting. To many shadows. Glares, or color hues where they shouldn't be. Thanks for the content!
I’m going to switch out my background for a lighter gray and then see how I like the lights. My photos are too dark in general for my liking. I know most of it is because of my blanket color. I will keep testing!
Awesome video
Hey Carrie! I wondered if you’re using the Schedule Listings function on eBay? I’ve been doing so to ensure I have 5 items a day go live, no matter what. I’m able to load up 20 or 30 items in one sitting several days in advance this way. Thoughts?
That’s a great way to stay consistent! Great job!
Sorry wasn't trying to be nit picky. Just wanted to keep things as real as possible. I do enjoy your videos, and you have a lot of great info.
No worries at all! :D
What type of thermal printer do you use/recommend. Will it work with any labels? Thanks for all you do.
We've been using the same Dymo 4XL printer for many years now. I've had no real issue with it. I purchase off brand 4x6 labels off of Amazon and they work great with it.
You are forgetting the $20 coat rack?
I realized while editing that I forgot to subtract it. I'll be subtracting it in my next video!
Wait, are you on Poshmark also? Oh no looks like you’re not.😢 I have to figure out how to get on eBay then because I must have that House of Pain T-shirt!
Just on ebay! 😄
I didn’t see the video where you choose to do a store or upgrade to the store .. I’m a long time seller on ebay I currently have 11 items on my eBay at what point do you suggest to upgrade ?
I haven’t done a store subscription yet but I will probably later on when I’m running out of free listings and ready for coupon codes and markdown sales :) that’s when I would recommend others too!
NWT is always good to find, but how do you get rid of the Goodwill stink?
I used to notice more of a scent they sprayed a couple years ago, but I haven’t noticed that scent much anymore. I think the ones in our area stopped spraying clothes with odor eliminators. But I just wash the clothes with a tide pod and they smell normal to me afterwards.
@@carrieathome but then your new with tags is gone
@@wnrdog6 Oh, sorry I misread your question. For the new with tag items that smell, I set them outside for 24-48 hours. The wind does a good job getting smells out, even cigarette smoke!
Are you going to share the link to the second store?
Added a link to the description!
Cool. Thanks! @@carrieathome
Can you send a link to the blanket you used?
It’s a $3 blanket from Walmart!
Most bolo shirts are such slow sellers, it's like watching paint dry lol
Do you have a separate phone dedicated phone for just ebay pictures?
Yea! Just makes it easier to keep personal photos away from business photos :)
@@carrieathome That's what I need to do then. Have SOOO many pictures (2700+) blending together it's frustrating having to go through and start picking them out. Thank you!
One more question if you don't mind. If an item you post is vintage, like old Vietnam military jackets, should I post the title as "vintage" First? Or keep it as brand first then the more details for it?
Do you wash everything?
Yes, it’s eBay’s policy that all preowned items are washed.
Whoaaa those shipping prices are high! No way that tank top costs more than $4.50-$5 max to ship.
That’s true! But I use flat rate shipping policies so I don’t have to enter custom shipping prices on every item. So anything less than 1 lb is $6.99. Anything between 1-2 lb is $9.99. Anything heavier, usually $12.99 covers the shipping cost. The shipping prices are pretty much industry standard too. :)
@@carrieathomealso recoup some of your time and shipping supplies cost.
What about eBay fee’s, promoted listing fee’s?
All that’s calculated. Gotta take out the fees as well to see what you actually profited 👍
your store only has 29 items?
Yup! This is my shirts only store that I started from scratch 1-2 months ago
Great video, but I am definitely not a fan of your photos with that lighting - at lesat on my computer that plaid shirt is very very dark - the others are quite as bad, but still they are all really dark. Just an FYI. I am in the market for some new lighting - won't buy those - my house is dark .
Thanks for the feedback! I’m still working on phone adjustments plus, I think my background is too dark of a gray.
