Great video! Thanks. Shouldnt you use the metal tape only the plastic sides of the heat tape?
I would suggest that you put full water bottles under the bottom shelf... and they will act as a heat sync. That way, when you open the door, and the temperature drops... it won't take as long for the temperature to return to normal. Just an idea... but otherwise, GREAT video tutorial on how to build one of these.
Juicebøx Plan to, its not in use yet. Hopefully it will be full of eggs in the next few months.
Fantastic hold backs, we've just subscribed and looking forward to more of your videos, Steve and Michelle over in the 🇬🇧 U.K.
Steve Munn Thanks for the kind words. More videos will definitely be on the way.
Great build! The heat tape is cut through the black.. from my understanding you can only cut through the clear bars not the black bars or you’ll have an electric issue.
Great build I like your design! I definitely will follow what you have done!
Great video. Watches hundreds of these and this is one of the best
sweet video brother love and respect

Nice build and video! I built mine awhile back, but I've been too busy to finish the video.
The Royal Ball Shack Thanks 😀
Sweet build!!
The Python Burrow Thanks mate
That is awesome! That cooler is a GREAT find! I assume it no longer cooled, so I would have been curious how much you were charged for it. You also mention it was from a "distributor." Is that a Coca Cola/beverage distributor? or appliance or restaurant distributor? I'm going to go on the hunt for one myself.
It was from a distributor of wholesale vending supplies. They sold the pop, candy bars, and all the machines. The unit no longer cooled, I just removed all the guts.
It was around 350, not bad for as much as it holds.
Serpentine Dream thanks for the reply, I’m now on the hunt.
Have you had any issues with the built in fan making it to hot in the incubator. I have the same exact setup and my heat tape won't even turn on due to it getting over 92 degrees. any help is appreciated
Thanks,
Devon Mckinney no problems at all, it's holding steady with no spikes.
Very nice I've always wanted to make one just like this but just keep using the old one ive had for over 10 years now LOL!
Just do it :) it is a big job to make one, not really that hard though.
Yeah I have people looking around for me. Or I just may make my own out of PVC sheets like the racks.
I did this too, but make sure to use electrical tape over the ends and also over the main silver or copper strip of the heat tape. i used foil tape to secure it to the cabinet. I got voltage bleed thru the plastic and my cabinet is live! not kill u live, but u feel it. I will re do it after my 1 clutch this year is done incubating
I did use electrical tape over the contact points. Thanks for the comment.
Serpentine Dream I actually meant over the whole strip. I believe my heat tape is bleeding current thru the plastic somewhere, as I double taped the solder points and the ends all the way across. the plastic must be thin enough to bleed some current thru to the metal cabinet. it's the damndest thing. u can test for current bleed by feeling the metal of the cabinet while it's on and heating. if it feels like a 9v battery on your tongue, there's bleed. not really an issue as long as your tubs are plastic and the babes can't get out and touch metal. just something to check for. even after a while in operation. mine didn't do it at first. only after months of use.

Question did not understand why or what you sodered??? Can you explain it little to me please everything else I totally understand???
The heat tape has 2 metal strips, one on each end. You can buy clips for those connections or you can solder them to the electrical cord.
