That Lidge stat is crazy
Counting playoffs I believe he was 48/48 in saves that season. Unreal. He obviously was incredible but the amount of luck and clutch fielding you need to go perfect in like 50 tries is crazy.
They were a magical team

This Phillys team was nice 💯 Jayson Werth was a beast, Chase Utley was the best second baseman in the National League if not MLB IMO during those days, Ryan Howard anchoring the line up, Victorino being clutch, Jimmy Rollins being MVP the year before, Cole Hammels was the best pitcher on that Phillies roster and that post season. Brad Lidge was one of the best closers of the 2000s. This team was nice 💯

Utley, Rollins and Howard ... what an infield. 2 MVP winners in (Howard and Rollins) and Utley was even better than both. If anybody isnt that familiar with Utley he had 7+ WAR in 5 straight seasons. He was unreal. He was elite fielding 2B who hit ~.300avg ~30HR 100+RBIs ... one of best 2B ever.
Really???? Never heard of him once ever, even though I have heard of Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard. Some guy named Pedro Feliz wasn't bad at 3rd either.
@@callmeshaggy5166 Feliz was okay and helped fill a big weakness but was pretty league average. The other 3 were Hall of Fame level at their peaks.
@@callmeshaggy5166 Yeah I feel like hes kind of flown under the radar for how incredible he was. 5 straight 7+ WAR seasons is insane. Back then they didnt give as much love to elite fielders or value WAR as much. They were giving all the love to just HR and RBI guys so Howards was bigger name and star but Utley was better. And not just better but much better in 4 of those 5 years. And Rollins only had 1 true elite season.
I was only 3 when they won it in 80. That NLCS, best series ever watch it it’s here free. Then a loss to 83 orioles. I watched them come within 3 outs of game 7 in 93 like Balt this yr worst to 1st. Then this!!! Then 09 loss to Yankees. then 2022 pennants divisions 2 titles in the last 40 years. Finally owners that spend since 07.
