It reached No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1979 after peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart earlier that year. There are several cover versions of this song, including those by Dolly Parton and Smokie Robinson. Dedicated this to my ex wife Over ten years ago. Still listen to it almost every other week.Or so.
My mother used to play this over and over after my father died. This and Greenfields from Brothers Four. You need to grow up to understand how monumentally it must suck to lose your lover so young. Just awful. 😢
My cousin made this song I miss him😢
I always hear this song in Brazil!!!

Folks if this song dont touch your heart and soul you don't have a have one! One of the best songs ever recorded! Rip Mr Randy! 💜🙏
absolutely... A beautiful song.
Agreed. Wanderlust in my early 20’s cost me “the one that got away.”
Agreed
June 4th, 2024….. I’m a 71 year old man that’s having marital issues after 49 years with the love of my life…. I think of her when I listen to this song 🙏🏼
Am so sorry you’re experiencing such pain which should be our golden years!!!!! I wish you well
I so feel for you, it is a pain most difficult to endure.
Awww…poor thing, an almost 50 year successful marriage to the love of your life since you were 20…you probably have grown children, loving grand children and maybe you are or are about to be a great grand dad too.
She’s entitled to give you a little trouble after 49 years don’t you think?
Try being grateful for all that you have and have had and work on yourself.
She hasn’t left you, she’s probably just developing new interests or needs something more than “when is dinner going to be ready”.
My apologies if I’ve got it all wrong but I’ll I’ve had in my life is heartache and anything or one I love gets taken away or ends up betraying me.
I spent 1/2 my life trying to be a good bf and show what kind of husband I’d be to a handful of different women and each and every one got spoiled. The other 1/2 of my life I wasted my health and time at a professional career to make my parents feel comfortable about my future and earning more and more money to make dad happy, or at least show me some respect. Didn’t work.
But I can’t and won’t ever complain because when I was at rock bottom I realized the only way was up and after everyone and everything had failed me, including myself - yes I’m the one that made all those choices freely - I finally did find the love of my life, and it was me, and Christ is me, which is the hope of Glory.
Everything happens for a purpose. Try to turn a negative into a positive and so it will be,
Congratulations on a long happy marriage and to a big loving family. It’ll work out.
@@damonc3557 I spoiled her Damon, I’ll send you a private message when I have time…
Nothing an honest conversation and some TLC shouldn’t be able to fix. Good luck
I realize this song was written for a broken heart after a failed relationship, but when I hear the chorus I can’t help but think of my best friend who died when he was only 10 years old, and how it left me alone for many years without a friend and nothing but thoughts of where he might be, and what he might be doing if he were alive today
Sorry for your loss, I could not imagine losing my best friend at 10. Danny and I had a lot of unforgettable memories(falling out of trees, playing baseball, talks I could never have with my brothers, first loves, he got me jobs, I got him jobs) just to mention a few. Again, sorry for your loss.
@@RememberMe123-b4b thank you. We had a few great years together that will forever be treasured in my mind, and I thank God for that time we had.
I am so sorry you are living through that. I cannot imagine what it must have been like to go through that at such a young age, and then carry it with you. Godpseed to you.
This song was actually written about his father who left him when he was little!😢
Touching.😇
I never get tired of listening to this beautiful, mystical, superbly-arranged ‘masterpiece’ by such a uniquely talented performer.
Exactly, very beautiful song has a lot of meaningful words in his music.so Randy do you have any new songs that may be coming out in the year of2024.-2025 ?*:) God bless you.happy holidays.randy.*:)

Had not heard this song in 30 plus years. Then two weeks after my husband died, leaving me with three kids under the age of seven, I heard this song at the mall. Truer words were never spoken.
I’m very sorry to hear about your husband, passing away.
So sorry for your loss God Bless.
Bless you Krista and your kids. I hope you all can find comfort in the know in that your husband is watching out for all of you. 💖
So sorry for your loss, I hope you and your family are doing ok these early days of loss, God bless x
Krista Winston So sorry to hear of your loss, hope you find peace and happiness.
In 1978, my dad passed away of a heart attack. He was only 44 years old. A few months later mom and I were in the kitchen, this song came on the radio. We both broke down bawling like babies. We had no insurance on my dad, so living was hand to mouth. It made things soo very difficult. There were 3 other siblings at home too. Hard times for sure.
So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song. How are you?
You make the tears swell in my eyes.Glad you made it🙏
Omg
Bless x
Well you should have been more prepared
Get over it
Stumbled upon this song. Makes me think of my mom who i lost 91 days ago. I really need her. My heart is forever broken
Aww I so sorry prayers and (((Hugs))) are in the way 🙏♥️✝️
Wow what a pure voice
U still have her! She’s an angel now watching over U.🌅😇❤️✝️
Memories as good songs, can live forever. And "old people" don't mind dying; they MIND not being REMEMBERED.
THIS IS NOT the best video depiction of a "Performance"... therefore NOT "high quality" either; It seem that Randy was more comfortable MULTITASKING, as if "making the best of his time on stage?" in the other one in which he's wearing the WHITE SHIRT..This one leaves him dangling his arms around to the rhythm (probably as instructed). Most multitalented musicians we have worked with, don't "enjoy" performing without a familiar prop (such as a Stratocaster, right ?) LOOK FOR THE OTHER VIDEO; BEWARE of the one wherein he's wearing the red shirt and bunch of weirdly inappropriately staged pretty girls are depicted by some silly choreographer as "leaving , dancing and lifting their suitcases." THIS SONG WAS TOO PERSONALLY EXQUISITE for that choreographer's "moves or ideas," (or lack of good ideas?) should have depicted a girl leaving at Heathrow AP instead...and then, possibly, just phased her out slowly by dramatically, instead. IT RUINED THE FEEL OF THE SONG TOO; Like to know the composer's OPINION of that one!!
No one will ever top this for a BEAUTIFULLY executed FEELING of a SONG by the most APPROPRIATE expressive SINGER; They removed their clothes until there was nothing left to remove, and started SCREAMING into their electronics, and lit the stages on fire, to get GLITTER , DRAMA AND VIEWS.! I know, and we were "there' in the 70's! THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO OF RANDY'S BEAUTIFUL SONG; BEWARE of the one wherein he's wearing the red shirt and bunch of weirdly inappropriately staged pretty girls are depicted by some silly choreographer as "leaving , dancing and lifting their suitcases." THIS SONG WAS TOO PERSONALLY EXQUISITE for that choreographer's "moves or ideas," (or lack of good ideas?) should have depicted a girl leaving at Heathrow AP instead...and then, possibly, just phased her out slowly by dramatically, instead. IT RUINED THE FEEL OF THE SONG TOO; Like to know the composer's OPINION of that one!! IT IS NOW June 4, 2014 and We're back too! Loved Randy's voice!. A good song never dies-and we still question that one commenter who said " Saddest Song Ever." Not sure exactly WHY, this comment is a bit upsetting to ME, personally...I think it's (as many of my friends have said) that "I over-think" matters allot. A person walking out the door, CAN be a good thing, especially if you're a marriage and family counselor, for example. Sometimes it's best for the person, that the spouse DOES walk out the door..."Just GO for God's Sake!" on that note , it could even become funny! ("Why Did She Leave?) "Ancolies" sang it for me, and in order to show him the "feeling" to sing "with", (which he does often, and very well, by the way) I drew a sketch of a man whom anyone in thier right mind WOULD want to leave (ha ha!) because he's French, and I thought my language incapability might not "get the point across" correctly. (Language barrier, I think they call it.) I had to tell this singer who has a beautifully sensitive timber to his voice, how to "make it funny." )The SONG is, obviously "sad," however, the person left, didn't die. (Randy died of course, that's ironic AND very sad-RIP Randy) but the character didn't die. "Stairway to Heaven" is SAD AS HELL, beautifully constructed, beautiful melody with extremely appropriate lyrics and we all know Eric Clapton's little son DID die....BOTH songs are SAD, and extremely UNIQUE, in that the melodies and arrangements express sadness , and were coordinated perfectly, to do so. ' SADDEST?" Not sure; "He Stopped Loving Her Today" might be the saddest ..perhaps just the saddest " Country song---Perhaps THIS song is merely the "saddest song of its type or genre?". I rest my case. On an analytical "note', in case I missed something somewhere in one of my compound sentences (with the overuse of parentheses...).... the composer certainly chose the right singer to get his "message across." Takes all three elements to get that perfect balance; Lyrics, arrangement/instrumentation, AND the singer who can FEEL and EXPRESS the mood the writer intended. BINGO We term those " Excellent , Eloquently Executed, with Emotion" and would give it the "EEE Award" as in " can't say enough about this singer, singing this song!" Maybe someday there'll BE an " AWARD" such as that! (i.e., Ana Marie Ceuca gets that on her expression of " I'm Sorry Now" (Or, "The Man I Almost Married.") "I Miss You More" with Dean and Frank in Mind (Or, " Why did she Leave?" twisted and rewritten as a comedy!) Sorry to hear this, but, your Mum is always with you, right by your side, right now.
I cried like a baby in 1979 the first time I heard this, and every time I have heard since.
Now it has a very special meaning and I have dedicated it to my grandson who suffered a massive seizure and died in his sleep Christmas morning 2016 at the age of 31.
God is with you, may he bless you every day. My deepest condolences for your loss.
I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and the family.
God love you. ❤️ I'm so sorry for your loss.
Hello Louise Ross. How are you doing?
Hi,Louise,how are you doing?
Still a beautiful song after 43 years!!
These comments are all simulated.
Omg!! It has been that long! That’s just crazy… feels like last summer! Still heartbreaking yet consoling at the same time!
Absolutely a beautiful song!!! It just doesn't get any deeper than this. I have loved this song since I was a little boy.
I had this song on replay in 1979 when my husband left me and our beautiful 2 year old daughter for a woman with 5 kids. Listening to it all these years later still makes me cry, sometimes time doesn't heal!
I offer a warm hug to you. I am so sorry that happened to you
If it's any consolation you're not alone
Hahahaha
You achieved great things. Congratulations.
I hope there is joy in your life today
A masterpiece that will go on forever. RIP Randy.
Amen
God, My prayer is you please stop death. Thank you in advance.
Amazing to see the man behind the voice. Too bad he is no longer with us.
RIP Randy VanWarmer
(1955 - 2004)
Never has so much pain been written into a song than this one... He didn't cry because the tears were captured in the words 🥺
Like mine
Randy's dad died when he was 12 years old, that was what inspired him to write this song. It was not a lost love but the loss of his dad.
U right, but it can be used as a love gone or lost typa song
thanks for the info...this song is very melancholic.
my son lost his dad @ 13 & the pain is very real I love my little boy (30 now)
15
I can relate. I lost my father in 1995 at 55 yrs old. I was 21 yrs old at the time. May u RIP Randy and my father Jim. Enjoy nice talks in heaven.
I just read that Randy died in 2004 of leukemia. How sad ... RIP Randy and thank you for your beautiful music.
Listening to this song transports me back to an innocent time of my life. When I was a kid, riding in my dad's car, and listening to this song and feeling every word. Now as an adult in her 50's, it hits different now. I love you Dad, RIP. 💔
Absolutley...........
Respect 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
A Brilliant, brilliant song that cuts so deep as we get older , can't listen to it now without having tears in my eyes, some things we never ever get over in our lives.
So true😢
Is it better to have loved and lost ... No😢
No one can sing this song like Randy Van Warmer, I could listen to this all day. A haunting melody and lyrics. Gone too soon.
Tim Mcgraw did a nice job on it! But still no one did it better than Randy!!
Dolly Parton does pretty good with the song. I like listening to Randy. RIP Randy.
He wrote in a dark chapter of life ,so beautiful and relatable to anyone the more I listen tears well in my eyes for someone I can never be with in my life , Randy sang for tender heart's around the world ,never stop loving ,💙💪✌️👍🙏😎🤙
Queeee? Ya se fue?
O my ,this makes me even sadder to know he passed away
Never judge a book by its cover. Randy sings this song right to our heart. We can all relate to this song in one way or another.
so true

I’m 14 and this is weird but I really like this song. It was always played by my grandmother when I was young before her passing, in her old house. I guess it makes me think of her and other late family members.
You love your family that's why you love this song. You love your grandmother. Cherish her memories thru this song. You have a kind heart. Keep safe young man. God bless you!
A dad from the Far East. 🇵🇭😊
No you aren’t weird..💕I’m 60 and i replay this all the time as it reminds me of well let’s just say a similar situation to this artist who was popular at the time. I related to the song back in the day although I didn’t lose a parent to a car accident like him it was just as heartbreaking just the same...my loss. my first love left at the same time...and was such a great person..
There's nothing weird about listening to good songs. Take it from a 26 year old dude 😄
Take care, young friend.
No, you're not weird, you're wonderful! Your grandmother would be so touched by your words. That's the power of music, and LOVE!
Good music is timeless. 😊
For anyone whos been betrayed. This tune hits home right in the broken heart. Always Always know you arent alone no matter how deep that hole your in
Thats a fact. Married 34 yrs to the same woman who couldn't keep her panties up kicked her out after the 3rd time.
Feeling left😪
Thx James
💔🙏
Such true words and just what I need to hear right now, thankyou ❤
My very first date was with Randy Vanwarmer :) He took me and my best friend Gina Vanwarmer his niece to see the movie ET and then to McDonalds for dinner lol even though I was just a pre teen I was crushing hard on him lol. I am so sad that he passed away. He left me a memory I will never forget
Bobbi Mazza I like your story pretty cool God bless you LOL
What a great story, thanks for sharing. Loved this guy, as a slightly geeky alternative to the mainstream, which meant so much to me back then! A song that will last forever...
He put out this song when i was a Teenager.. It really pulled at my heart strings! Thanks Bobbi! Your making me Tear up, but I really like your story!
You will meet one glorious morning!
You were a Pre-Teen?? I'm hoping he was only like 15....

This song broke my heart in 1986. I was 18, she was 17. She left me when I needed her the most. Sad. Today I am 54 years old and I still remember her.
This song is such a timeless classic. Sincere, earnest and sentimental.
Raise your hand if you listen to this song after Nov. 2022.

Such a great song, brings on happiness
This is a heart-rending song and it could fit nearly anyone. I believe most of us have felt abandoned in our time of need. I pray if that is you, that God will give you His peace and lift you up so that you can go on. For we all must go on.
How beautiful way to express your feeling about this song!!!; as you say: "It fitsnearly anyone". Thanks
Thank you, Moon Watcher. Blessings to you.
Thank you Pat.
beautiful thought ...kindness and wisdom
SO true Pat! Heartbreak, I believe, trumps physical pain any day. Like you said, the Lord is our rock in times of loneliness and abandonment. I don't know what I would have done without Him when I was traversing those deep dark valleys of feeling abandoned. UA-cam only let me 'like' your comment once...which is a shame.
My husband walked out with no warning, no note, no goodbye. I never even knew where he went or why. This song still hits me 50 years later . I’ve never loved another man like I loved him.😢
Heartbreakingly sad x
Two months after my wife died I heard this song, with her for 40 years. LORD pulled me thru .
I lost my husband 8 months ago. 1 find comfort in hearing others expressing similar feelings. We were married 52 years and soulmates. I still cry almost every day.
How Randy could sing such a beautiful heartfelt song without breaking down on stage is beyond me. I could barely listening to it without balling like a baby.
Even if one were DEAF, the Lyrics would touch their heart, wouldn't they?
Songs can trigger off emotions of all kinds ?

(i.e., Ana Marie Ceuca gets that on her expression of " I'm Sorry Now" (Or, "The Man I Almost Married.") "I Miss You More" with Dean and Frank in Mind (Or, " Why did she Leave?" twisted and rewritten as a comedy!) This is a song that reflects missing someone you loved. My Mom passed away when I was 7. I missed you Mom. Great Song. I always heard in the radio during sundays.
If this song and the lyrics does not reach in and grab you your soul is empty already.
It's A hit song, he had better numbers!!
Nah.
"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord"
Amen, this song is one of the most beautiful songs EVER written.
True
Just When I Needed You Most is one of the best written and Produced songs in history of Love songs.
More like heartbreak song, rather than love song. 🤷♀️
Anybody that's been in love and it didn't work out understands this song. It hits home
Exactly , True , I know I left .
Ouch
+seattwa , when you love someone you don't hurt them at all .
+Ronnie Coleman This is what it feels like when you are forced to say "goodbye" to someone you never thought you be without.....I never needed or wanted my ex as badly as I did the day we went our separate ways. Funny how that works I guess.
BookemDano. .very true
One of the hardest things to go through is when someone leaves you, for no apparent reason. Letting go can be very hard.
This song was covered many times. I hope Randy made some decent royalties. RIP
Randy IS Royalty now; His ashes are part of the ions of time and singing along with the ethers.
Even if one were DEAF, the Lyrics would touch their heart, wouldn't they?
Songs can trigger off emotions of all kinds ?
To some, this song is a feel sorry for me pity party "; to others, it's much like an unrequited love prayer.
Seems it means "something" to "everyone!" Memories, as great songs and memories, can live forever. And "old people" with great memories , btw, don't mind dying; they MIND not being REMEMBERED.
Was working on a Seattle radio news station when Randy died at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Way too young to die. I ran the story over and over that night. RIP Randy.
Love this song
A beautiful song... I first heard it when I was 15 years old back in 1993 in my country, Honduras. I liked his voice, the music, I didn’t speak English and didn’t understand the lyrics but touched my heart from that very first moment. I grew up listening all kinds of music but I also love listening music in English, which didn’t have a clue lol, but I think that music is like love, you don’t need to understand it, you just feel it! This song was one of those songs for me, I just felt it.
5 days after giving bird to my first child, I lost my mom. I was very, very sad... the fact that I needed her before than ever and she was gone when I needed the most.... listening to this song again and understanding the lyrics, describes perfectly the pain, the sorrow and loneliness of that empty space in my heart 😔
Every time I hear this song, I remember my mom.
Thank you Randy Vanwarmer for this masterpiece. ❤️
Hello 👋 Daniella
A musician in my small town I knew of, played this song. I’m a guitar player as well.
He told me why he sang this song. His mother left him and a brother behind at 5 and 6 years old. He really remembers missing his mom. She never came back. He never knew her after.
She stayed in our small town. Remarried and had three more kids. Ended up being my aunt. I was probably 50 when we played music. Now 66. My mom told me she left due to drinking and violence at home. She gave up. She felt so threatened and un loved. She just up and walked away.
This wasn’t told to me by my musician friend.
He knew she was my aunt. His half brothers and sisters my cousins. The next time we played together he again played this song with passion. I now knew the story and why he cherished to play this song. I actually had tears while playing this time. I knew the why. His grandma raised him up. He never understood why she left. It truly wounded him the rest of his life. Town of 15-20,000. He saw her out but never spoke again to her. She never acknowledged him again either. She is gone now.
To some, the song is a feel sorry for me pity party "; to others, it's much like an unrequited love prayer.
Seems it means "something" to "everyone!" Memories, as great songs and memories, can live forever. And "old people" with great memories , btw, don't mind dying; they MIND not being REMEMBERED.

This song, one of favorites leads me back to 1979 when I was only a 11 years old boy, spinning everything in my childhood through my memory. If God could allow me to set the clock back to the past! I miss what passed by me long time ago. Randy Vanwarmer RIP!
WOW!! A song was actually written about "exactly" what happened to me at three years old back in '49. The effects still linger on my inner being from time to time. Abandonment is the ultimate betrayal and heartbreak for which there is no cure. We just live with the pain. Some make it. Some don't. I pray for all that suffer in this regard

I was born in 1971 and this song reminds me so much of my childhood. I can't believe I can say the 70's were the good ol' days, but they were. So grateful to have lived during a time where talent really mattered and it wasn't all about sex appeal. The kids today really don't know what they are missing.
Well said Denise - 100% behind you - Love from SA.
o yes we had everything today the kids have nothing a shame for the so called civelezied world
couldn't agree more Denise.
I was born in 69 and can relate 100%
Born in 71, too. It was a better time all around.
I played this at my mum's funeral. She always dedicated this to me on the radio 😭😭😭
You packed in the morning, I stared out the window
And I struggled for something to say
You left in the rain without closing the door
I didn't stand in your way
Now I miss you more than I missed you before
And now where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me just when I needed you most
Left me just when I needed you most
Now most every morning, I stare out the window
And I think about where you might be
I've written you letters that I'd like to send
If you would just send one to me
'Cause I need you more than I needed before
And now where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me just when I needed you most
Left me just when I needed you most
You packed in the morning, I stared out the window
And I struggled for something to say
You left in the rain without closing the door
I didn't stand in your way
Now I love you more than I loved you before
And now where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me just when I needed you most
Oh yeah, you left me just when I needed you most
You left me just when I needed you most
Thank you so much Randy VanWarmer for this beautiful and touching song! I hope you are resting in peace. So sad that you're gone...they just don't make music like this anymore...sigh.
This song has to have hit the heart of everyone who has experienced loss of a relationship of some sorts. Randy sang from his heart.
May Randy R.I.P.
I felt this song was written for me when my dad deserted me when I was 15 in 1979, I soon learned who was important in my life and it certainly wasn't him, he didn't give a toss about me!! I'm so glad my mam outlived him, I love you mam ❤
Wow the 70s music was great though the memories of that era were sad .!!!!
Several years ago when I got my first smart phone I went nuts and I started watching lots and lots of music videos and I came across this gem which unbelievably I don't remember ever hearing...When I watched the video for the very first time it literally brought tears to my eyes because of the story it told about lost love and then I found out that Mr.Van Warmer was lost his life to cancer and that really did a number on me...I also like Randy in the video had a girlfriend who left me for someone else and I completely lost it but my story doesn't end there...My ex-girlfriend lost her life to COVID 19 going on 2 years this September and because of that I don't even think about the breakup anymore...R.I.P. babe and R.I.P. Randy for a beautiful heartfelt melancholy song🙏🙏🙏...😢😢😢...

My most beloved song ever. I was a teenager when I fall in love with this song. It’s something beautiful about the rhythm of the music, that I cannot stop listening too. I save money and bought the LP and fall for all the songs. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I sure do miss the 70s, 80s and 90s. The music today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song?
Who Still listening 2019?

Randy, You may have been a ONE HIT Wonder, but man....you Hit It Out of The Park with this one Buddy! RIP
he sure did
Well said, Sir! #WellSaid +_+
He wrote a song called I will whisper your name one by Michael Johnson
He wrote several number one hits for other stars like I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes by the Oak Ridge Boys and I’m In A Hurry by Alabama
A truly beautiful song. RIP Randy. x
This song has so many ways to apply to life...Great Song im 66yrs
he is so under-appreciated for his silky voice..man what a voice....chills
God has him now.
VERSATILE AND TIMELESS!
GREAT SONGS NEVER DIE! IN THIS CASE, THE SINGER'S NOT " DEAD" REALLY, EITHER !!
April, 2024 And still listening; This isn't the best VIDEO of his "performance" though.
Randy won't need awards now, or Royalties; HE IS ROYALITY.
The memories he left humanity are echoing through the ethers of Heaven and Earth now.
Songs can trigger off emotions of all kinds ?Even if one were DEAF, the Lyrics would touch their heart, wouldn't they?MUSIC BEING THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. it'll be the first to go, after prayer is censored, as it lifts the spirit of humanity;

Seems it means "something" to "everyone!" Memories, as great songs and memories, can live forever. And "old people" with great memories , btw, don't mind dying; they MIND not being REMEMBERED.
(i.e., Ana Marie Ceuca gets that on her expression of " I'm Sorry Now" (Or, "The Man I Almost Married.") "I Miss You More" with Dean and Frank in Mind (Or, " Why did she Leave?" twisted and rewritten as a comedy!) "I Still Care" (Sadness, to the beat of UK's BOG ROCK classical "Nutter Suite") VideosToInspireHumanityByFredGold&LyndaFaye AND BTW " I Ain't no Middleman!"

Today’s my mom’s birthday. She passed 17 years ago. This song helps me. Thank you Randy, RIP Sir
What a great song to write, and leave as your legacy.
What a beautiful beautiful song. I've played this song so many times over the years and it still chokes me up every time even though I'm 66 yrs. old
Every time I listen to this song, it makes me sad as to remember that he sadly died before his time. This song you can tell came straight from his heart.
The words and music always carry me away.
Hank Sprong I'm 76 years old. I was just going to post my comments on this song until I saw your post. You said it all for me! Thanks Hank.
+Hank Sprong I agree Hank you said it all bit I left a post from my heart also about man that wrote a song straight from his heart
My Dear and precious friend Randy
I know I'll see him. in heaven
if he hadn't shown me how just to say what's deep in your heart I would have never been successful as a songwriter and a person.
I listen to this song when I feel lonely. My husband died just when I needed him the most. That was 9 years ago and I srill miss him. We live together for 26 years.
Songs can trigger off emotions of all kinds ?
Condolences, my dear.
Do you pray for answers in your dreams?

I first heard this song in 1979, until now I'm still listening to this beautiful and meaningful song. Rest In Peace Randy.
Two years ago I lost my wife to a brain aneurysm. She was 49 and had only a few weeks to head for her 50th. We were married 26 years and people said we were made for each other. Whenever I listen to this song it brings me to tears as memories become overwhelming. Yet though I still find comfort in it. It´s crazy.
Godspeed the healing ❤ keep the positive image of her in your ❤ stay 💪 always. His song brings tears but is undeniable about loves duality. ..🌎😔❤🐱🎸

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can relate. I lost my husband unexpectedly just over 5 years ago. I feel like I have lost half of myself. The void left by our spouces feels like a vast, gaping hole. Remember the amazing times we had with them. You are not alone.
Such a meaningful song when you are truly alone

Takes all three elements to get that perfect balance; Lyrics, arrangement/instrumentation, AND the singer who can FEEL and EXPRESS the mood the writer intended. BINGO We term those " Excellent , Eloquently Executed, with Emotion" and would give it the "EEE Award" as in " can't say enough about this singer, singing this song!" Maybe someday there'll BE an " AWARD" such as that! (i.e., Ana Marie Ceuca gets that on her expression of " I'm Sorry Now" (Or, "The Man I Almost Married.") "I Miss You More" with Dean and Frank in Mind (Or, " Why did she Leave?" twisted and rewritten as a comedy!) "I Still Care" (Sadness, to the beat of UK's BOG ROCK classical "Nutter Suite") VideosToInspireHumanityByFredGold&LyndaFaye LyndaFayeSoriginals@Yahoo,UT, and Bandcamp.

Music is the greatest thing, it gives us memories. When you hear your favorite song you try to remember where you were at the time the song came out. Music is beautiful and so is this song.
ENHANCES the memories and the senses. It'll be the first to go, after prayer, since it lifts the spirit of humanity.
On an analytical "note', in case I missed something somewhere in one of my compound sentences (with the overuse of parentheses...).... the composer certainly chose the right singer to get his "message across." "You left in the rain without closing the door"...so powerful 🔥
I concur with your statement
@@amandasingharaj3189 thanks, friend...I'm back again listening to this amazing piece...be well 🔥
Not for someone with OCD. I'd hafta towel dry the door, floor, rugs, and check for damage in the cellar. And the next day too. Couldn't stand a woman so inconsiderate as that. Good riddance.
@@howieduin915 Haha...I never thought of it that way... interesting take, for sure 😁

I know that I will see you one day, and will be together again but until then just want to send you this song wherever you are. Love you my Darling, love and missed you with all my heart.

A beautiful song by an iconic singer, this song speaks volumes. RIP randy you are a treasure, and will be truly missed😪
I got bipolar late in life. At the age of 45. Had to stay at the hospital for many weeks. After having a serious mania there comes a period of being very low. Right there the divorce was a fact. Timing. The title of this song is spot on.
What perfect, simple and touching song. One my favorite oldies but goodies.
Missing my mom and dad today so much.... I really need them, they left too soon so many years ago. Thank you for posting this song... Wish it looped.
+Carolyn Burnam They always leave "too soon," no matter what time.
They are on the other side and will always be looking after you.

Beats me - how can anyone dislike this song!!!! They must be out of their minds!!
Trolls have nothing better to do, minions of evil.
yes you are right
sudiptakiran- Well it's a good song, but it IS depressing.
...feel the same. But I have to ask, "ARE WE EVER GOING TO WIN????" I remember hearing; "nice guys finish last" I have to say, I'm starting to believe this MAY be true. Seems like the more you give, the MORE you will inevitably die of total exhaustion. I know it takes two to make three, but I'm on the shallow end of the pond when it comes down to what it takes.
Gary it depends on what you give and to whom. If you give love you usually get back more than what you gave from those around you. And we die of diseases or old age not of giving love. Instead of winning we should try to make other people happy and shall have our reward. Love is not business. Regards.
listened to this many times in school crying over the love that would never be. Thank you Randy!
