    I LOVE budgeting. I paid off 75k of student loan and car debt in 4.5 years and I loved the fun challenge of sticking to my budget. I went HARD. Like… I had 20/week grocery budget for a huge portion of that time 😂 But now I have solid financial habits and it’s allowing me to spend money on things I really want like business class flights (my guilty pleasure).

    My husband and I are in our mid-60’s. We are very comfortable, as we should be at our age. I attribute it to making financial goals from the start of our marriage, and sticking to our goals. We’re careful, not frugal but understanding the harder we worked on the front end, the faster life would provide us financial-peace-of-mind which is worth millions. This has nothing to do with how much money you make but instead on how you manage your money 💕

    Ok if you do a square bench seat in that desk area you could totally build little triangle shelves attached to it to house books, plants, or knick knacks in the extra nook space. That would be so cute and have a "built in" effect!

    I love the bench idea with some bistro tables!! If you decided not to cover the whole bench, you could somehow make a holder for the remote, cup holder, or built-in phone holder/charging station. Otherwise, it would be cute fully covered, as well. Look at Jordy coming up with sweet design ideas!!! Y'all make a great team and an adorable couple! I'm so happy you found such a loving man! I am laughing so hard at myself, when you were going into the garage and you asked if Jordy was dressed, I thought oh he writes music with no clothes on? Must be part of the creative process, to each his own. Then you showed his closet and it all fell into place. Dying!! 🤣😂

  • @nottheone582
    @nottheone582 9 днів тому +6

    for the cushion you should totally DIY it! cushions are pretty easy. Since you already have a solid underneath you don't need to repeat plywood again for the cushion. If you make a paper template of the shape you want any foam shop can cut you custom upholstery foam in exactly the right shape. Then just find your fabric and you can either DIY it using fabric glue or sew a basic trapezoid shape sleeve - slide cushion in and hand sew the open side. It will probably save you atleast $200-300 vs getting a custom cushion made.

    I wonder if your recent health issues and fatigue are caused by a similar reason why we often fall sick on holiday. Maybe on a deep level, now you are married to a good man and feel safe, your body is saying you don't have to keep holding it together - like a really deep unwinding.

      It's hard to be generous when drowning in debt. If every penny is going to payments, there is none left over to be generous. Yes, the first always goes to the church. But beyond the first fruits, being consumer debt free (not including a reasonable house payment) is a must. Take all the payments, add them up. Imagine having that as your disposable income to bless others with in a monthly basis. That is when giving makes a difference.

    • @nancyk777

      @@janemuir3546 You can be generous in other ways, I'm sure you do randomly nice things for people or try to be kind to people, even if maybe you're having a hard time, that's being generous too. ❤

      @@nancyk777 💯 YES!! Everything from babysitting for someone who's child is running a low grade fever/has chicken pox, and mom needs to go to work because ahe is a teacher and only has 2 personal days, taking a mom to see her child 3 counties away that is dealing with legal issues, taking someone to cancer treatments. And many more. Yes to all of that. Typically when people say generosity, they are wanting to give financially.

    I have a bay window seat that I inherited when we moved here I loved it (one of the selling points for me) but it was old, a bought new foam from a company I gave them the measurements then a wadding to cover the foam which gives it a bit of a softer cushion finish. Glued the foam to the wood base wrapped and stapled the wadding then did a velvet cover stapled on it matched my dining chairs. It was super fun and simple to do I think you could totally do it watch a few UA-camrs do it you’ll be set. Mine is that exact shape and my cushion spreads the whole length which I prefer myself as I have a couple of cushions on either side ❤

    I made a cushion for my daughters window seat in her bedroom. I just measured the amount of foam that I needed (about 2” thick dense foam and 2”thick memory foam) and then attached that to plywood. To cover it, I measured the fabric, wrapped it around the foam and used a staple gun to attach it to the bottom of the piece of plywood.

    I think you could diy the cushion. I don't think it'd be super hard. You could do thr odd shape or not. If not, you could make it like a book nook since it's like cafe style., and stack some books with a cute little nick-nack on top. They even make a cool wooden book page holder thing that could go on top. Either way, I ❤ the idea for that space. Personally I would make it a cute book nook with comfy bench to read books, with some book shelves under the bench and maybe along the wall too. ❤❤❤

    Omg, so easy and FUN to make that cushion yourself! I made one for a window area we had in one of our homes. You can buy the foam cushion at most craft stores or if you aren't finding one long enough, just order online. Then I picked out a fabric I loved and cut the foam to the exact shape needed. You can either wrap the fabric around the underneath of that wood table and staple it in OR if you are wanting that wood edge to show, get a thiner wood panel, cut to the shape needed and make that the cushion and then set that on top of the wood table you have there. It sounds more complicated than it is. You can even add cute details if you like. Saved me money and it was a fun project!

    You can totally diy the seat cushion. Get some spray adhesive to keep the foam from sliding around!

    You could paint the small wall beside the washer as a feature wall a color that will match the wall paper(or a color in the wall paper if it’s a pattern)😊
    Then put up art or functional hangers for something or more small shelves 😊
    Or paint the rest of the walls to match the wall paper
    Just a thought .

    Girl, DIY the cushion!! I made one for a bench for a vanity desk and it took me like 30 minutes and looks amazing. I had never done that before. I just went to JoAnn, one of the ladies helped me pick out stuff and away I went.

    Great idea with a bench! Should be a nice area to hang out! 😎
    Just a suggestion for that wall… the light seems to hang a bit low and covering the picture, maybe it’s posible to move it a bit higher or to change it for something not that long ❤

    • @LindaKayHolevas
      @LindaKayHolevas 10 днів тому

      I was going to say the same thing about the light. The blocked picture draws my eye to it every time I see that wall. I definitely think a smaller picture needs to go under the light so you see the picture & the light, too! 😊

    The cushion should fit the bench area fully. Also, just a random thought. Maybe paint your bathroom door a different color that accrntuates the sign. It could bring color to the room and it might make it even easier to find the bathroom!

    I like the idea of a rectangular cushion… couple things that you could put beside the cushion would be some foodie magazines since you’re into that cooking now maybe a battery operated candle on one side perhaps a phone charger or a couple small games like a deck of cards, a little cute dish with chocolates, a couple small books of poems

    The cushion should fit the bench! Cut a thin piece of mdf (or some else light weight) to the same shape and create your cushion that way. Super easy way and then you can reupholster when your style changes or you find a fabric you love!

    for the incoming bench seat upstairs, what about a rectangle cushion with triangle armrests on the ends...for the less stable cuties (elderly/nauseous and pregnant, to help younger ones get up there etc) Kind of like a book end for the peoples :P
