Nice, Great job in cleaning them up!! I have the Sonor Sonic Plus also in this awesome green stain. The difference between the Sonic Plus and the Plus II is that although both are made and or assembled in Germany the Sonic Plus are Birch shells made in Germany and Plus II's are Chinese made Maple shells. You do get a lot of Drum for the money..
I have the same kit in the same colour, but it's a 10-12-14-20. The hardware is a flimsy aluminium alloy and clearly where corners were cut. I actually snapped one of the bass drum legs but got a metal splinter put on it and now set up with extreme caution! I'm also not keen on the slat floor tom legs and the fact that the tension rods are slotted and larger than normal tension rods. However I do like the plastic bass drum hoops and, being Sonors, the shells are very well built. Tunes up very easily! It's now my workhorse kit for gigs and recordings. I whacked some Evans UV1s on the toms and a Remo Powerstroke 3 on the bass drum.
Fun Fact: The shell used on the Sonic Plus II was made in China. That's the same shell that was used on the earlier Force Custom kit. Looking into a viable option in the "budget drum" catagory, Sonor partnered with a Chinese music manufacturer in the mid '90's and, under Sonor's supervision, started producing the "Force" series of drum (there was one earlier edition that was made in Germany, but the rest were made in China). One of the first drums they made there was the Force Custom. The same 9 ply Maple-Mahogany-Maple shell was later used on the Sonic Plus II.
Thats a killer set. That is about my pearl all birtch shell series custom kit. Back in 91 I traded a 3k workstation sy77 one year old for it without cymbals. 5 piece. Had gold rims and harware on black ...It had a massive 28 in kick. Remember that band enuf znuff? Yeah that massive bastard. The toms were like that. Power toms. The kit was a rental special ordered for a one off gig by the birds drummer show in 89 or 90 in PC florida. I lost that kit in hurricane katrina as it was in the trailer. Everything was bulldozed by the owner and i was 1 day too late ...Looters took the streets and probably got what they could. I lost more than ill have ever again. It was my life. I stopped playing after that. It would make 26 years at that point. In 06 i got custody of my kids and raised them myself in apmt. So getting another kit wasnt worth the risk for noise. So i let 16 years get between me. Last xmas this week or so ago i was surprised by my sweet daughter. God bless her heart. She knows i have no real income now due to health issues but she got me a little ddrum starter d2r. Lime sparkle. Lol. Its really amazing the quality for the 350 ish asking prices. Back in my day 350 would not get you a new playable kit. But i must be honest. It really needs a kick pedal. And cymbals. For now the heads ill tune best i can. The gear i have ill try to offer trades guitar stuff for decent parts to get this thing playable. Your video is quite cool. Sonor is a great kit. Well brand.
I have a blue stain Sonic Plus 5pc birch kit and an early Sonic Plus II Jungle kit, black wax stain. The Sonuc Plus II were maple & mahogany. Sonic Plus were birch.
Hi. Greetings from Norway ✋ I’ve got one of those sets. In fact exactely the same set. Sonor Plus II made in Germany - same colour/finish. Bought it from a jazz-drummer some 15 years ago. My set (sorry to say so :)) is in visually better condition - more or less pristine condition apart from treads on the tam-mounting on the kick that i had to re-tread. I spent quite som time tuning it, but when i finally made it, they sound great. You did a great job with yours - so far. Keep it up 👍
Ghe Sonic Plus II line I believe we're Asian built but under Sonor supervision, Asian & Canadian Maple. Real good kits. The Sonic Plus were birch, bona-fide German made.
@@ForsytheVideo I like them. Maybe they were, yet there are several plies of Asian Maple in them, slightly lesser quality wood than Canadian yet maple none the less. I dig 'em. I have the Sonic Plus birch and the maple Sonic Plus II, in the kool early Jungle kit.
I had this set. I loved it for the most part. The floor tom was kinda impractical for gigging I thought. The bass drum always good good remarks from sound techs.
I have a ready to play Sinic Plus natural b7rch kit, stands and Pauste student cymbals for only $1200.00. All you need is a throne and sticks. German-made kit, 100%. In fact, I bought them directly from that country.
One of Sonor's better kept secrets, the Sonic Plus and Plus II series.
I have a Sonor S-class in cherry red, first edition. Scandi Birch and hard maple. Great drums!
jes sclass pro sparkle blue

🤮 yuck! Chinese crap. I have the Phonic series from 1975 and the quality is 10x better.
Sounds amazing! ...and I like the look... Cool chops - great attitude. Hat's off!

Got the same kit. And I got a cool sound in my floor tom. Using evans heads and in a low tuning.
Have you seen the Plus II Jungle set, neat lil kits.
I saw in the comments someone had a set of kick spurs. I'm in need of the right side but would be interested in the set if available.
I think they're universal
Nice score for the price! Definitely has some features you don't see on a lot of drums.
Thanks man I really dig 'em!
I have an early Jungke kit with the neat, rare cymbal boom.
HI COCONUT!! You said "penetration".
I’ve always wanted a drum set but I bought guitars. But still I can’t find a nice deal
I find deals all the time, you should buy from me!

Switchcraft drums used plastic throw offs
The layer of smoke is a preservative.
🤣Man you probably ain't wrong
lacquer thinner on the spray paint will get it off
Sonor really lost the plot by then.
