Here's my position on Loot Bug popping: - Normal Lootbug: Pat on head, absolutely adorable. Only kill if absolutely necessary for survival (Nitra) or if they're in the way. - Golden Lootbug: Sorry buddy, you shouldn't have made so much gold.
Normal Lootbug: Only kill if necessary for survival (always pick up all the gold and nitra they drop as a sign of respect.) Golden Lootbug: Pat on the head and let vibe, they bring good luck.
Since I discovered you can pet, I have been violently opposed to killing them unless necessary. My group did a mission and towards the end, our scout accidently covered a lootbug with pheromones when 2 of us were down. The lootbug saved us and was miraculously still alive, I was going to give em a medal of valor. Then our engineer decided to shoot it with a nade launcher... I burned him alive and left
Ive got a few moral rules for lootbugs: 1. I will only kill a lootbug if im in haz5 or in a deep dive/elite deep dive 2. I wont stop my comrades from doing it, but they cant make me kill a lootbug or they get the satchel treatment. 3. If they kill the lootbugs i pet, everyone dies, incluiding me
i don't usually run into nitra shortages on salvage operation, egg hunt, mining expedition, elimination, and escort duty. due to the fact that the caves there have lots of surface area and i'm forced to explore them to get the resources.
They usually swarm my Morkite pipelines and cause me to fall to my death by blocking the rails while I'm riding on the pipes. Recently bought that one upgrade that creates a radius of heat whenever you burn something and now I can get rid of excess Loot Bugs around the refinery and the pipes in less than 40 seconds.

On my first mission I killed a lootbug from a distance and my character said "I killed a lootbug and I don't feel good about it", then I read about them and discovered they were harmless. Since then I have sworn to never hurt one ever again.
I usually only kill them if they are in the way, or i’m playing engi with grenade launcher or breach cutter and there’s a big group. the rest of the time i usually leave them be
i genuinely never kill these fellas. there wasn't a single time where I'd kill a lootbug while low on ammo, never. i never went out of my way to kill a lootbug just for nitra and gold, even if it's a golden one. accidenta happen, sure, sometimes i accidentally kill a lootbug while fighting glyphids, but then i actually feel like the worst person known to mankind. the other day while i was playing with my friend or glacial strata, like three lootbugs where stuck in one place, not being able to move because of the cold air thing that freezes genuinely everything. we spent like 15 minutes trying to save them, and we actually got one the escape, altough the rest was unfortunately unsavable, nothing we did was working, so with sadness, we continued our mission, knowing they'll be stuck like this. colored me surprised when we were escaping to the drop pod, i notice that, somehow, no fucking idea how, they managed to get away, yeah molly did start walking on a fucking ceiling and we would fail the mission if the friend of mine didn't have a zip line, but i was happy no matter what. i love lootbugs, please make them real rock and stone
