What so many commentators don't understand, seems to me, is that Megan has a certifiable personality disorder. She is a world-class narcissist (some would add sociopath as well). A true narcissist has no empathy, no compassion and is incapable of love. A true narcissist derives much pleasure from inflicting pain on others.
Look: Megan cannot change - the liklihood of her seeking and finding a cure for her narcissism is almost zero MEANING she will hound Catherine in increasingly vile ways for the rest of her life. She may well become unhinged, and then dangerous - I worry most about Catherine and the children. (Of course Megan's own invisible children will suffer much.)
