gotta say the idea of a squad of veteran military dwarves going through their old home to get supplies for fellow survivors sounds like something warhammer or DnD would do AND OHHHHHHHHHH i may have to try to make that
They are literally living a few levels above a bunch of locked up corpses. The horror game/movie material is just fantastic if they open that sealed hospital who knows what horror will come at the citizens
dwarven soldiers: hey, there was some giant slug was down in the caves. it looked disgusting but it didnt wound a single one of us! linae: *martyrdom activated*
This is in 34.11, amirite? Because I now greatly appreciate the revamped priorities in 43.x; Clean is scheduled much more reliably in the later versions.
that blood has got to go somewhere. if they washed it out it likely would be washed into a nearby lake or river, polluting the ecosystem with beast rot
Hey I remember you! Thanks for saying so, I guess if my videos keep gaining so much popularity, I might HAVE to one day, lol. Also, look again, somebody beat you to the first comment by about 2 minutes :U
We need more peopel like you, doing simple stories of DF... There are more and more human beings playing this game, but less and less dedicated folks like you, making simple yet effective stories like those.
Yeah, things are a little out of order now. This story is actually the first DF story I posted on my channel. It originally came from my DF review, which was made shortly before the "More Dwarf Fortress Stories" video (hence the "more" in its title). People liked the story of Gemspears enough that I had to make a follow-up video with more stories. Now, since I've seen how popular the "more stories" video became, I re-posted the Gemspears story outside of the DF review video, for people who want to link this story or re-watch it outside of the review.
Like the game your story is not very famous or good, but very relatable and therefore enjoyable. You said (maybe in part2) you're a fun guy, so if you ever make more of these don't forget to show it more. In that sense, strangle the earth!

"Let me tell you the story of Gemspears..."

Why not flood the whole fort and wash the blood away?
that blood has got to go somewhere. if they washed it out it likely would be washed into a nearby lake or river, polluting the ecosystem with beast rot
This would require construction work, and would move the items around, possibly ruining some or washing them away.
I would watch the hell out of more dwarf fortress vidoes! This was awesome!!!
Wow what a story and you tell it so well it makes it come to life.
Hope you make many more of these :)
Excellent story, it's almost hard to believe that something so small took down the whole fortress in all its grandeur lol
May I have the script for this video? I want to make it into a TTRPG dungeon
There is a Pastebin link to a transcript in the video's description, so feel free!

You need to take any vampire dwarf and lock them in a deep underground room.
Then leave them there for all eternity.
This is a great background story for a DnD setting =O

You told us the story of the vampire vs the minotaur.
"To Armok knows where." :P
"The vacuous caves that birthed it." :)

My head-canon is that you're Nicholas Cage playing Dwarf fortress
