The predictability of Harden being bad in the playoffs and then asking out disgruntled could have been seen by anyone with a brain. Maybe if they don't trade for Harden, Embiid doesn't leave next off season to the Knicks. They may have traded for negative value even when you talking about Ben Simmons. This is especially true because they had another trade they agreed on...Ben Simmons for Tyrese Haliburton. They choose to trade for Harden instead. For the nets, I would be worried about the negative impact Simmons could be having on the organization because of his mentality. At least with Philly they ran it back and got rid of a cancer that would've affected other players and throw a wrench into their team mentality. Both teams were going to lose regardless, but I would say that the Nets lost harder as they can't get rid of the apathy cancer that is Ben Simmons (in sports apathy is a negative overall cause it also impacts other players).

I'm a Borussia Dortmund Fan. Different sport but hear me out: We lose our best 1-4 players each year because they're becoming Superstars and we can't pay them accordingly...not in these wild times at least. So yeah that sucks, but ever since we lost Dembele and Aubameyang to bad character and laziness, back to back more or less...even though we made a lot of profit each time, that hurt. You don't come here, make a name for yourself in OUR colors and with OUR support and then do us like that. We told every player since: Be professional and we will, too. Be a dick and we'll sell you to Arsenal where you'll be rich but futile and end your prime TODAY. Worked so far, Haaland and Bellingham gave us everything they had and are now ELITE and can demand anything. So Philly...be tough on ONE and the rest won't dare or at least think twice.
If you can refuse to make James Harden an FA to hurt his career, do it. What is really going to give you in return for ALL THE DRAMA? Or let him earn the maximum 5M in China and see how that works for him with surveillance and all that on top😅

I might be way off here, but I think this is a big test for Embiid as a leader. Now that he is MVP, he should be looking for a way to take charge of the 76ers locker room & culture. B2B second options derailing team chemistry and wasting multiple of his prime seasons is not a good look.

As much as I do criticize Daryl Morey for the situation. No, we did not lose the Ben trade. Simply because, we as a fanbase were never going to accept him back no matter what. His Mediocrity lost any sort of sympathy or support, the moment the dunk that didn't happen, happened. What Joel needs are guys who can spread the floor and shoot, Ben does neither of these things and adds such a detriment to an organization, that to this day we feel the ripple effects of having drafted him in the first place.
And then secondly, I don't 'blame' Daryl for the situation, because 200% of the blame goes to James Harden. This is a Latrell Sprewell/Terrell Owens situation. The guy's getting paid 35 million dollars to play basketball, and if he plays at a high level he may very well get that max contract from Philadelphia or somewhere else.
But he's being destructive again, he's sacrificing people around him again. If you do something 3 times, that's who you are. James Harden is now a basketball cancer to an organization and that's why a trade hasn't facilitated. And it seems like you're letting James off the hook for being the catalyst of this situation.

I think the Sixers won the trade. I can't look at this trade 2 seasons later and extend the optics to say one team wins or loses. If you look at when the last two seasons, Harden has been more valuable than Simmons. And now the Sixers about to have a ton of cap space next season, with Embiid and Maxey as their core, and still able to compete for a championship. The Nets current construction and position for the future is more about their KD and Irving trades rather than the Harden-Simmons trade. If the Sixers go on to win a championship without Harden on their team, and let say they aren't able to trade him for tradeable assets, we can't say the Sixers won the trade at that point, it's too far removed from the trade.

You're missing the point, 76ers were actually pretty stable prior to Daryl Morey coming along. Then you have all stars requesting trades and refusing to play, sacked coaches, everyone throwing everyone under the bus, now you're gonna lose the MVP, and the only thing left for Morey to screw up is Tyrese Maxey! Replace Morey or remain a disaster!

I HATED the "process" and thought it was just pathetic, but it lead to SOMETHING. The Sixers just screwed up along the way with coaching, front office moves, etc.
Philly may have to bite the bullet and trade Harden for a bag of chips and some picks and let Embid figure it out. When that fails, they will have to trade him and the process will begin again.
