Story 1: Good grief, what is wrong with people? Nevermind litter, i would've called the police on this dumb Karen for both tresspassing and harassment. This is also a good reason not to leave your garage door open unless you are in it. Seriously, how to these Karens not get assaulted? Guess people are smart enough not to go to jail over them.
Story 2: No, the OP isnt a jerk at all here and i really dont see why the husband is making such a huge deal out of this. The OP isnt being negative at all... there seems to be some kind of ill will going on here between the OP and the stepkids here (something not being told here im sure) and i think that some of this could serve to make things worse. While i think the scrapbook is a great idea and birthday gift, i do think that parts of it could cause some unwanted drama.
Story 3: The OPs boss isnt forgetful, the boss is just a complete moron. While the malicious compliance was awesome, if i were the OP, i would be going over the contract that they were offered. Something tells me that something was either not mentioned in it or something was changed last minute. There seems little reason that anything wrong here should've happened.
Story 4: Honestly, mortgage or not, why would the OP even agree to sell the house to this stupid Karen? With everything with the roof and everything else, i wouldve told her to pound sand. Also, im pretty sure that it is illegal to start doing alterations to the house before the official closing... not to mention the blatant vandalism. With all of that, i would've torn up the contract and cancelled the sale, along with suing her for everything.. dont just threaten to. So much BS.
Story 5: No way is the OP a jerk here, and something tells me that everything here was 100% planned ahead of time. The wife knew that the moving arrangements with Joe were going to be chaotic like this and she knew that her friends were going to have those hockey tickts ahead of time. This seems way too coincidental to me and sounds intentional. The OP has every right to be mad here, and all the pictures in the group chat almost sounds taunting. I also wouldnt want to "volunteer" for anything like this again. OP got taken for a ride here.
trespassing Karen stories ar only "funny" and appreoperiate for YT in states without castle doctrine. in the other state YT would never allow someone to rad th story and laugh bout it. so I for sure an not goin gto jail over Kasren. I have a legal right o defnd my home and property.

On the story about the wife volunteering op to help move her brother and his girlfriend, op you are NOT the jerk. I would be pissed at her also. I would have told her the same thing. Your wife is at fault 100%.

The second story, the idea of the happy, harmonious blended family is the exception not the rule.

Story: Geez Louise, that Karen is....to borrow a British idiom....mad as a hatter for what she did. Never mind her false accusations of being a litterbug, I'd be taking her to court for her attempts to slander my reputation and she'd hopefully see the repercussions of wasting the police's time and resources.
The first/title story, it has been said before but it's worth repeating. If you discover a trespasser on your property. Do *NOT* confront them yourself. Call the police und let them deal with them.

I'm going to be perfectly honest on that second story this is why I have the belief that you don't remarry somebody with kids I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with that because yes I do get that 95% of the time those marriages can work out because it takes the spouse backing up the other person that they're remarrying to help their kids understand that hey look this is the person I'm choosing to be with and if you like it or not get over it I get it but at the same time here's the thing it's not great to settle down with somebody that is not going to defend you against their kids or allow their kids to just say this and that to you to the point where you just get brushed off because to me then it just looks like they really don't care just like the husband in the story of story 2 because yeah I'm sorry to say like I have a lot of sympathy for the original poster but I hate to see it she's not going to get this man to budge just because they had a kid together
The stepmom's issues with the step kids I assume are caused by some people of the family. Be it her husband's family or his late wife's family.
Not saying that the step kids couldn't have just matured and realized "hey, I dislike this person"....... But generally that wouldn't trickle down to the half siblings. Here it did.
This doesn't happen unless there is someone whispering not so sweet nothing's in their ears.
Again, could be the husband's family, could be the late wife's family. But a family meeting would have to be called. The husband would likely have to be the one to call it, and stepmom would have to be a surprise participant. But given how he went full gollum/smeagle when she gently tried to tell him his kids for some reason hate her.... This is not likely without a serious conversation.

I wouldn’t say that. I think some people just simply don’t understand that step family won’t be a true part of the family. I mean, personally my father remarried and I’ve got nothing against my stepmother nor my step siblings they’re simply not family. I can’t love them like that and if I want to be honest I don’t even want to. They’re nice, kind, yes. But I don’t feel as comfortable around them as people I *choose* to love. So in my opinion no shame to them, they’ve got every right to not adore their step mother. (Especially since they do nothing mean against her)

And obviously the healthiest relationship (if we’re talking about step family lol) with them would be if we/the person in that situation would love them just like a normal family. I mean in my situation is definitely affected by the fact that my relationship with my father is pretty close to horrible but I try my best to be as loving kind and open to my step family as possible but due they’re part of my life because of a person whom I’m not too close with, it is heavily affected and it makes me “harder” to love them or something like that

Story 2: I dont think you are the jerk but I dont think the father has done anything bad either. The children doesnt either have to like a stepmother and it seems like they still gave it a chance when they lived at home. They were clear after they moved out that they only see their father as family. True it is for them so. Some feel that you have to see your step parents as family and step siblings or half siblings. Some just feel that if it isnt both their parents kids then they arent part of the family. It isnt like they are huffing and puffing in the story over when the step kids and step mother also visit with the father. They just been clear that they want the father to be the one to come as the rather. The father did good in itself of opening up that he can visit alone too. Why? Because then his kids gets to get full attention from their father. Because that is what they want while they can.
I find anyone trespassing they better be able to get away fast or theyll be hurt. Man or woman because this is 2024 and they want equality soooo.....

story 2 i fell like the narrator is being to harsh to the husband here he just wants to give a gift to his son that means a lot to him am sure the son despite him not being found of op and all that i dont think he rip on a gift his father got him and yes while the kids are being rude is not easy to accept another person in your fathers life so easy so in the end am sure the son would still love the gift
Yeah I agree with you here man. I also think he's being harsh on the stepkids here for not liking the OP. Because really, they don't have to form a relationship with the OP if they don't want to. The way they're acting is understandable really. Although the narrator CLAIMS that he's had friends who get along with their stepparents, they can do that because they CHOSE to. They CHOSE to form a relationship with their stepparents. Yeah, the way they're trying to get the point across is kind of harsh, but I think that's because maybe the husband is forcing his kids to be friendly with the OP. That's just my take of the situation at least.
