I'm jealous at how nicely the bumper and under splash tray came off and went on.
Finally got one on my 350z rev up for about month now and I love It! Installed it with the hoses coming from the top so the mishimito logo could be facing the right way. Plus it just looks better and feels safer without the hoses hanging lower to the floor as done in the video. But definitely has my oil temp down with the thermoatatic plate and it just looks amazing! And this is probably the best video on UA-cam with the best install step by step instructions.
So any issues with it running the other way I'm unsure how to mount mine cause this I want the logo to show but dont want there to be not enough pressure or something
That music playing , sounds disturbing. Lol. Other than that, thanks for the install video.
Great walk through on how to install this engine cooler kit.
i wanna do this install for my 350, but I'll have to wait till i change out my intake. it sits on about that spot and Im not sure if there's enough clearance.
can you have a transmission cooler on at the same time?
Always try to install bolts from up to bottum and front to aft. Nice vid though.
so I guess you'll be adding oil to make up the difference of filling lines and cooler
Hello, I have a G35 coupe 2003 with almost all NA bolt ons. I have a digital gauge attached to OBD2, the engine coolant temp reaches 96 degrees then when the fans start working, the degrees will go back to 87 degrees. The pointer on the normal gauge stays in the middle (No overheating at all). Is that normal? If I get a Mishimoto Racing thermostat, will it solve the problem and ECT will be lowered?
why did you use the thread or pipe tape?
Hey, I’m definitely going to buy one of these kits for my g35 after experiencing high temps at the track. I was thinking of maybe running a second cooler in series however I’m not sure if that will cause too much reduction in oil pressure. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations on whether I can run a dual cooler setup or can the factory oil pump/motor only handle a single cooler?
This is not something we have tested. We would suggest starting with one and going from there to determine if a second is needed.
Good show!
Hi I'm interested in installing this oil cooler kit for a 2004 g35 coupe. Upon watching your video on the part installing the sandwich plate. On the oem one has two coolant hoses that attach to the oem sandwich plate. Do you cancel those lines out? You comments on this is greatly appreciated have a great day.
These lines are left in place and are meant to help the car get up to temp a little sooner.
There are no holes on my uk 350z, I will have to drill some
don't you have to add extra oil to account for the airspace now created by the cooler piping , cooler its self, and new filter . id guess 2 quarts almost ? and wth is with the cost of those banjo fittings( that are pretty much required because of the side outlet that ends up an some random direction ???)...but then $80 for 2 fittings to go into a $130 adapter plate ???? awesome plate by the way . im looking into one. but the cost of those fittings kills it for me . maybe im off?
I have a 350z and I want you guy add that oil cooling to my car. Where is your location?
nice, good work ;)
Do you need PTFE tape on the threads for hose fittings?
Hey bbarathy - nope! Check out the detailed install guide here for your reference: cdn.mishimoto.com/media/productpdf/MMOC-350Z-03_InstallGuide.pdf
Won't installing the cooler with the fittings pionting down cause problems, even engine damage?
why?
My question is, with this cooler and these lines installed, does this not call for "more" than the regular amount of oil for proper oil levels? If so, how much additional oil is needed for this system to be at the proper level once installed?...
Hey! Head over to the product page: mishimo.to/1XSD565 scroll down to the TECH SPECS where you should find your answer! :)
Why does it say coupe only when the sedan is essentially the same thing? Does the sedan not have the pre-cut holes or require longer lines for whatever reason?
This product fits the 2003-2009 Nissan 350Z and the 2003-2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe only. Fitment was not confirmed for the sedan.
So, forgive my ignorance on this matter - I'm not the most mechanically inclined. By watching this video, I didn't see you uninstall any OEM oil cooler, is that because we don't have an oil cooler to begin with? Is there anything that needs to be removed prior to installing this oil cooler aside from the oil filter as shown in the video? Also, when tightening all fittings, is there a torque spec needed or just until resistance is felt? And ONE more question - are there instructions that come with the oil cooler product?
Nice video by the way.
Hey Av8tor. Thanks for reaching out. The reason that installing an oil cooler on a 350z is due to the fact that they were lacking one from the factory. This kit does not require removal of any OEM components for a proper install.
As far as the fittings go. Recommended torque specification for all straight fittings and banjo bolts: 15-25 ft/lbs (operating range). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 35 ft/lbs.
Additionally, our products as a whole do not come with instructions. However, we are pretty good at developing these installation guide videos when a new product is released. Just follow the video step by step, and you'll have an issue free install.
hi there, I installed this kit and uploaded it to my channel, and have received a lot of comments saying this is the wrong way up to mount it, is this the case? as the lines were not long enough to reach if I mounted it so the lines went in the top, thanks
Orientation does not matter. Coolers can be mounted in any
orientation and as with any internal oil pressure cavity, the pressure would
push any air out of in the system. There is enough resistance in the cores that
the end tanks/manifold will fill up evenly before pushing oil through the core
of the oil cooler. This means the oil will push out any air upon start-up.
Mishimoto Automotive that's great then, thanks, really impressed with the quality of the kit and assumed you knew what you were doing, just had a lot of people question it. cheers, Sean.
WILL IT FIT MY 08 350Z ROADSTER CONVIRTABLE AND WHERE TO BUY?
Yes it will! You can purchase yours here: www.mishimoto.com/03-09-nissan-350z-03-07-infiniti-g35-coupe-oil-cooler-kit.html
Will this correct the oil consumption issue on an 05 g35 6mt?
Hey Thomas! Upon further research, our kit is unlikely to correct your oil consumption issue (there is in fact a known TSB concerning oil consumption for these engines - however without looking at your car more closely we cannot pinpoint what that issue may be, you may want to do some further research) - our kits are proven to reduce oil temps by 25+ degrees though!
i have installed a supercharger in my Z and where you mount this oil cooler is already taken up by the intercooler. this is a great mod for the car so long as you havent added anything up front. is there an alternate mounting spot and/or mount?
bonesjr330 - a lot of guys mount the cooler on the drives side, behind and under the left headlight. you can pipe some air in with a NACA duct on the underside, just cut into the under shroud. that's what i'll be doing after a SC install... GL!
Does the thermostatic plate need to be taped as well?
We recommend teflon tape on the NPT threads to help seal and prevent leaks.
where did you get that z emblem in the front
Anniversary edition comes with it
Will thise be the exact same on a g35 coupe?
Yes!
did nissan fixed this over heat problem 2007-2009 Z?
+r18a1USDM oil over heating
HEY BRO, I JUST INSTALLED A OIL COOLER FOR 08 350Z. DROVE IT FOR A BIT AND THAN IT STARED MAKE A VERY LOUD SCRAPING SOUND. IT NEVER DID IT BEFORE. HELP?
Hey JUNEORJUNE , did you install one of our direct fit oil coolers for your vehicle?
NAH BRO, I FIGURE IT OUT THO. TURNS OUT, I HAVE A LEAK ON THE OIL COOLER BECAUSE I DIDN'T USE SEALER TAPE AND DIDN'T TIGHTEN UP THE OIL COOLER PARTS. SO NOW IT'S FIX AND MY HR 350Z IS FATST AS FUCK BRO
JUNEORJUNE you're a toolbox bro...
Is this the same for 2007-2008? The engines are different in a few ways, along with the transmission.
Hello, 1983jakesan. We are quite thorough with our R&D procedures here at Mishi. We will not list a part as direct it unless we've tried it ourselves! With that being said, I'm happy to confirm this product is Direct fit for the 2003-2009 Nissan 350Z and 2003-2007 G35 coupe.
Mishimoto Automotive thank you for the response. I've been thinking about inserting an oil catch can on the passanger side (read I don't need one on the driver's size since it's always cleanish). I haven't figured out if a breathe is a good idea for the operation of the engine. Can you lend any advice? -2008 350z all stock.
Hi, 1983jakesan. Breather filters are a bit of a tricky topic to speak on. Some vehicles can benefit greatly from a breather while others will throw check engine lights and create issue during normal operating conditions. While I can not specifically tell you what the results would be with your vehicle, adding a breather would give any blow by an area to vent and prevent it from going back into your intake/engine.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A 10 ROW AND A 19 ROW OIL COOLER?
Increased cooling capacity (and about 9 rows ;))
So the oil cooler doesn't have the "M" on it? The first shot showed it with the signature letter but when installed it was no longer there.... answer please
Adam Hensley probably not.. if you really want it make a cardboard stencil and black paint and hit it up..
They just flipped it so the M is facing the radiator. The way we are instructed to mount the oil cooler turns the M upside down. They want us to mount it that way buy arent smart enough to paint the M on the right way. #Wishimoto
so if i get one of these does that mean the oem gauge will no longer work?
Hi cincysilvia8807! Why wouldn't the OEM gauge no longer work?
i figured. since the sandwhich plate has the two sensor mounts in it you'd have to relocate the oem from its previous place to the new sensor location.
Here's a link to the full install guide if you'd like to review it! cdn.mishimoto.com/media/productpdf/MMOC-350Z-03_InstallGuide.pdf
The Mishimoto label if facing the radiator because the oil cooler is "designed" to mount upsidedown???? At least paint the "M" upside down so we dont have to rock Wishimoto logo
The core itself is our universal 19 row which will have the logo on one side. Most customers will mount the cooler with the M facing toward the engine bay. We have stencils available if you'd like to paint a new logo on. Feel free to reach out to Support@Mishimoto.com
Hi there,
is it possible to use the thermostatic sandwich plate on a 16 row universal oil cooler kit ?? like eBay item 250949503313 ?
Wtf I gotta put tape in it Mishimoto can't supply us with rubber plugs? Cheap asses.
