Hi Steve. Loving your videos they’re fantastic. I’ve religiously paid attention and my catch rate is up massively especially on the method feeder. Keep em coming guys. Could you do a video on how to get into match fishing, what gear you need and what to expect. Many thanks
Thanks for the kind comments Peter and for taking the time to post them. Glad you've been catching a few fish. :-) No worries at all, I'm sure we can look at doing something like that.
Lovely video. I've never caught barbel, I live in Scotland. I've caught salmon, seatrout, chub etc but no barbel. I'll have to try it, I'm getting to an age where being static seems better. Loved it, then again all your videos are spot on.
Barbel are fantastic to catch, only fished for them on small rivers where you hook, hold and hope. Looking to target some bigger rivers this autumn. Great to see this video and the tips and tactics. Nice fishing!
We need more stuff like this do a challenge like the fox boys mozzarellas vs love this channel your a great presenter one of the best fishing channels deserves more 🎣👍😎
I think that pound to pound nothing beats a proper river carp. Barbels for sure are a challenge (especially big ones like the last one WOW!) but a carp of the same weight...fiuuuu....that's a real challenge, especially if you are not doing any species/size targeting fishing
Really enjoyed your video Steve and a good result in less than perfect conditions, well done. Was this on the tidal stretch? I had four days on the Trent last July, a couple of miles upstream of Newark, and did reasonably well for barbel.
I have never used feeders, seems counter productive?? Loading the column with food? Here in Montana you can catch as many barbel as you want with just a worm and a weight heavy enough to keep it on the bottom. Good fight for sure. Clear fast river. You can see the barbel like a carpet on the bottom. Easiest fish to catch. NormLly we catch them on accident fishing for lake or Bull trout. Are they tough to catch over there? Do the feeders really work?
Thanks mate! Steve was using 2lb test curves I think! Fairly powerful to cast the feeders and handle the river, but also light enough to enjoy the fishing. 😊👍🏼🎣
Hi looking at getting into sea fishing mainly of boat North Sea but some beach or pier fishing maybe. Advice need could tell me what type and make of reel should I go for. Cost is not a issue £500/£1000 but I would like to have one reel cover that all a one of perches.
We're looking for another spot, normally(1wk a year)fish the Avon near Evesham. I live in Norwich as well. If you could give us some details, where, day ticket,? Greatly appreciated
Been catching the barbel for 35 years on the river wye no place like it ,but sadly the pollution from the local chicken and egg farms it's thick and green like pea soup it's all on google i think there will be lots of fish deaths soon, para
Thanks Simon! It must be nice having such good fishing in your home town - I know we'll definitely be back at some point. :-) And yeah, the Macca's in the Ridgemonkey worked a treat. Haha.
chris thomas we fished for 20+ hours and all through the night. It wouldn’t have been possible to sit and watch the tip for that long. If we’d just fished a day session then bite alarms wouldn’t have been necessary.
cant beat the fight of a barbel i say all the time to people on channel to go and give it a go, best decision i ever made
Definitely Danny! I think we'll definitely be back up to the Trent again before the year is out!
Another great video, thanks 👍👍
Cheers Richard, glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the kind comments mate, glad you're enjoying the video's and our channel!
Great vid , I fish the Severn for these beasts, very POWERFULL FISH👌
Thanks Mark, glad you enjoyed it! They’re mega fish aren’t they. 💪🏼😌🎣
Great video. Where can you get a spomber like that from? A great idea. I have looked all over. 🤔
Angling direct probably your best bet
Thanks David! Might be worth a little search on Google or some of the forums. If not on Facebook. (I think the nickname is a Spopper!)
I got my spoppers on eBay. They are not cheap, about £30 each.
Nice one Widget. Not had a chance this year to go for the barbel but hopefully I will have a go soon. Good video 👍
Thanks Michael! :-)

Would love to catch a river Carp! In our area they're fairly elusive and take a lot of time and effort if you want to seriously target them!
Good job,, 👏👏👏👏
Thanks Jessy! :-)
Awesome Barbel and the Chub wasn't too Shabby . Stay safe guys , all the best from Downunder 👍
Thanks as always Peter. :-)
Nice video Steeve, lovely barbel 👍 Indeed the rivers are low and crystal clear in Belgium too and that are the worst conditions for barbel fishing...😒
Thanks mate! :-)
Love some Barbel fishing fantastic 👏
Thanks Chris! Barbel fishing certainly is exciting!
Great video. For me the low and clear conditions are the best conditions for in the daytime barbel ditch the feeders and get on the stick
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video! We'd love to go back and catch them on the float - perhaps next year! :-)
Interested to know the make of rod rest adapter that the delkins sit on, look like keepnet adapters.
I'll ask Steve for you mate! :-)
What size feeder do you use on heavy rivers mate?
Really enjoyed your video Steve and a good result in less than perfect conditions, well done. Was this on the tidal stretch? I had four days on the Trent last July, a couple of miles upstream of Newark, and did reasonably well for barbel.
Which areas would suite lure fishing? We are going to Collingham on Wednesday. Thanks
I'm not too sure I'm afraid mate, we're not local to the area unfortunately.
Good video I recently caught my first barbel and my first carp and they are no joke especially barbel
Thanks Bradley, glad you enjoyed the video. Nice one on your carp and barbel too! :-)
@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV thanks I've just got back into going and I'm loving it but yeah keep it coming
Hey mate is that spopper a medium size spomb? What test curve rod are you using to cast that thing?
Hi James, yeah it was a standard sized Spomb and Steve was casting it using his carp fishing spod rod.

The feeders work a treat mate! They love getting plenty of food, especially during the right conditions. 😊
Great video, enjoyed it 👍
Thanks Connor, glad you enjoyed it. :-)
Love it. How powerfull rods did you use (lbs) ? I've heard Barbel in Trent needs powerfull rods.
Thanks mate! Steve was using 2lb test curves I think! Fairly powerful to cast the feeders and handle the river, but also light enough to enjoy the fishing. 😊👍🏼🎣
@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV thank you for you reply. Waiting for more vids.

Hi mate, would you be looking for a fixed spool or multiplier reel?
If you want a Trent double try Burton Mutual waters. Willington was my favourite,
Thanks Bill, we'll keep that in mind for the new season! :-)

Greatly appreciated
Hi David, this is up from Collingham Wier, I'll have a word with Steve for you and try get you some details.
Great video, what stretch of the Trent was that?
Thanks Lee! That was a stretch at Collingham I think... I'll check with Steve for you though.
Sadly my korum brolly has nearly given up after a good few years abuse what brolly is that and do you recommend it
Hi Peter, it's a Fox brolly, I'm not 100% sure what model but I'll have a word with Steve and find out for you. :-)
Hello, can you tell post code were this place about, please)))
Hi mate, I'm not too sure on the postcode, I'll speak to Steve and try and find out for you. 😊
Great video lads. 👍
Thanks Jamie, glad you enjoyed it! :-)
great video guys keep it up
Thanks Dave! :-)
why doesnt norfolk have any barbel anyway? Ive heard its the otters? Probably just too much weed in the rivers now
Unfortunately and sadly it's because the Otters got them all! 😔
Nice film guys..
Cheers Paul. :-)
I can see the Trent i believe from the m1. Can anyone tell me where to go on there? How do you get a ticket any help appreciated. Thanks
Hi Gaz, the area we fished is around Collingham, there's lots of pegs available on that stretch and the bailiff comes and collects the money! :-)
@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV appreciated the reply....what's the average stamp size barbel? Thanks
@@Rubydoo691 not to get the flood gates open but my mate had a double hook up and one was 9 lb and the other 12 and a 12 the previous night
What rods are those?
Hi James, they're Advanta RVS twin tip rods.
What rods are those mate?
Hi James, they were Advanta RVS twin tip rods.
I had six out last week on an overnighter, as you say its brilliant sport.
Nice one mate, it's such good fun! I think we'll definitely try and get back up there before the years out.
I love Barbel fishing videos. We have no species like it in the States.
Thanks Bill, they are mega fish. Like a freshwater Bonefish! :-D
I’d swap a barbel to see a monster alligator on the golf course all day long . That is madness , how come they didn’t disappear with dinosaurs 🙏
That isnt anywhere as big as where I fish on the trent that looks like the severn 😂
Haha! It's pretty big compared to what we're used to, the Wensum!
@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV fair enough. Definitely need to get back on the trent in afew weeks!
Well done dude
Thanks mate!
I thought there were barbel on the upper river wensum
There might be a very few in the Wensum, but unfortunately stocks were heavily, heavily depleted through predation. :-(
Been catching the barbel for 35 years on the river wye no place like it ,but sadly the pollution from the local chicken and egg farms it's thick and green like pea soup it's all on google i think there will be lots of fish deaths soon, para
The Wye is a river we'd love to fish too!
Great session Steve, my home town(Nottingham )river. Super looking fish. Like the idea with the Ridge Monkey too. 😉👍🏻

It’s my home town but I don’t live there. I live near Aberdeen. 🤷🏻♂️
Mate fished there 3 Eastern European’s turned up and said he was fishing illegally and had to confiscate his tackle !
Oh no!
Good video, thanks. Think you need to improve on your cooking mate as that burger looked dodgy :)
Haha! :-D Thanks Paul, glad you enjoyed it.
i wish you would use ur drag instead of back winding, i reckon thats why u lost your first fish. Good video though well done
Cheers Gene, glad you enjoyed the video!
Fresh run salmon or pound for pound a sea trout
Would love to catch a Salmon! :-)
Please don't be afraid to say why we lost all the Wensum barbell I hope the law will change soon
Fingers crossed mate!
why do people use bites alarms for river fishing takes the heart out of watching the rod tip
chris thomas we fished for 20+ hours and all through the night. It wouldn’t have been possible to sit and watch the tip for that long. If we’d just fished a day session then bite alarms wouldn’t have been necessary.
