Guy is a perfect role model for our youth. Hard working, honest, down to earth, brilliant at everything he does but with modesty. I wish I was more like him.
Agreed. My 2 girls, 12 and 9 know him and love watching him on UA-cam....and we live in Texas. Much respect to him!
Yup hes such a great bloke 👍🏼
Brilliant at what he does becuase he does his homework on whatever he takes on.
Absolutely - but I bet no one who needs to is listening!
Genuine transparent with out spot or blemish 👍
This man is a national treasure. His passion for life is infectious. Thank you for just being you..
I think his name goes beyond Britain. He is known everywhere and I am sure he does the mechanic thing as a daily hobby not for money.
Weird. I was about to write the same thing. I love Guy Martin and enjoy watching him race and build stuff. He's just great.
Chaffey Jr its so fucking havy to undestand when he talk.
I am a Yank and can only understand about 50% of what he says. But I love Guy Martin!
mica H 👍😎
He called me mad once. biggest compliment ive ever received.
Bloody hard earned, coming from that mad mun that has disguised as one of the most chill individuals on this globe :)
What the hanky-pank did you do, Kris ?
@@AntalopeAUT I'd looooove if he tried hang gliding. He'd nail it with minimal training. Biggest buzz ever (not that I've ever raced the TT!!!)
A mind not ruined by society
a perfect description of him.. i am jealous..
@Sceptic Human note above= mind ruined by society

@Sceptic Human Northerners say it like it is irrespective of consequences. That said we are right for the most part or we just do not open our cakeholes.
@Sceptic Human It's called living the life.
Love him. So glad he hung it up on the TT before he became another name on the list..
He was a great racer and I hope he lives a long healthy family life.
Cheers.
willie838 he’ll be back
@@teerevevourdeminingo4274 This guy has utterly no fear..... what a legend.... I wish he could experience hang gliding - by far the most exciting experience I've ever had. Would take some training but I know he'd kill it
Anthony Spanjich bro the guy has fear. Relax.
Just none when compared to you and me.
"So glad he hung it up on the TT before he became another name on the list.." - and then he went racing a transit van around the Nordschleiffe to beat Sabine's time xD, and then Pike's Peak! TT was safer!, or wait…. secluding this dude on an island was protecting the rest of the motor-racing world! That's our Guy!
Agreed, so much more for him to do.
Imagine Guy Martin and Fred Dibnah at a dinner party... would be the most interesting conversation ever had in human history buy the two most modest and genuine people in human history.
being from Bolton and hearing about Fred all my life, and watching guy, I would love
To see that, they are different but the same, they are
Both so passionate about what that do and so normal.
@@MrBigbobsbeans R.I.P Fred
I was thinking of Fred at one point during the video
I remember watching Fred Dibnah as a child fixing a lightning conductor on a Church with just a ladder way before health and saftey. loved all his programs very interesting man a true Gent.
...and you wouldn't understand a word of it. LOL
Brilliant. I'd have loved to see that. And I'm from the west coast of the USA!
Who turns up for a TV interview in his work clothes.......Guy Martin, surprised he didnt walk on with a cuppa in one hand and a sandwich in the other, true Legend
UK needs more "celebrities" like Guy, not the vacant nobodies who're famous for being famous but honest down to earth personalities who can inspire others.
Country will be needing to go back to nurturing the practical skills instead of blindly pushing kids into university so having people like him on telly is a really good thing.
Andy Brown completely agree. We need people like Guy where our kids can look up to, hard working and modest.
@@zedman442 ua-cam.com/video/0OLOgeY33go/v-deo.html
Absolute nothing wrong with uni, what is wrong is the negative perception of apprenticeships and trades.
A modern day Fred Dibnah , we need more down to earth people on tv , cracking lad .
Totally agree. Can't all work at McDonald's.
Many folks love Guy here in the U.S.A., this man is just the real deal.
Quality. Without meaning to sound condescending I'm glad you guys get him and can decipher his accent.
The thing he is most proud, is his 12 months of no failed MOT´s! Love him! :)
"Yeah, was down here with my wife, she picked me up in the van. We had a pint down the road!" :)
Guy is the genuine article in an age of fakes. That's why everyone loves him - and a good many are jealous of his honesty.
Well said!
I've always wondered how people go through life constantly running from the last lie. I've met a few blokes in their 40s that still never grew out of that primary school lying phase and it seems to have consumed their whole lives, very sad indeed. It was a good lesson to learn I suppose.
Guy Martin is also of a dying breed of "the honest bloke." He doesn't give a shit about being politically correct, he is proud of his Lincolnshire heritage (listen to how he says water 10:08, because "it's spelled w-a-t-e-r, not w-h-a-t-e-r" as he explained one), and he grafts for a living, bikes for a passion, and just loves being honest about all of it. I love him after his crash at the TT, the one where the bike blew up on impact and he slid like 300 meters down the road, broke almost the entire left side of his body, and two days later there's a picture of him grinning like a madman in the hospital with a cuppa in his hand. Although he did say he was off his face on "the good drugs" at the time XD
GUY you are the guy next door who will do anything for anybody and not ask for payment apart from a brew! Always been a fan and you are a flipping diamond geezer!!
National treasure
Wish he lived next to me.
A national Tea treasure as well?
Sign of a true worker, turns up for a major Channel 4 interview still with oil and grease on his hands and fingers!
Guys parents must be so proud, what a wonderful son they have moulded.
I'm so glad he quit TT. Unfortunately there are a couple of lads running at the top you just get the feeling will not stop, until everything stops.
Funniest thing about video is trying to watch the auto-generated subtitles attempt to translate his speech. Listen to him long enough and knowing much of what he talks about makes it hallarious.
Legend I’m first a truck mechanic proudest of that most
Very simple Guy!! one day he just sits there and talk like he is no one, and next day he sits on motorcycle doing 200mph.
conclusion: he is down to earth and has no ego.😎🏍️👍
rocky diesel I bet when the visor comes down he’s a venomous demon with ego wringing the throttle.
Dude is so fucking real! He's a cool, hardworking, humble, smart, awesome, and has balls the size of fucking watermelons. We could only hope to have his outlook on life.
I want my grandson to become as loved and as passionate as Guy Martin ❤️
(Coming from Norway) you got 2 types of brit sports celebrities- you got the average footballer in PL screaming like a teenage girl for the better part of 90 mins
and fixing hair the rest. And then you got Guy Martin
This is one person that I would cross over the road to shake his hand .. amazing sportsman
I was at the motogp in austin tx years ago. We spent the night downtown to see the bats at some bridge and i heard his very distinctive voice through the crowd and i ran to shake his and he was so surprised to be recognized. I didnt want to bother him, but he was very polite and said hello. I told him that the pit lane penalty was bullshit and he smiled then walked on. Definitely great guy.
Just himself. Not worried what anyone thinks. Brilliant person. Brave, original, talanted, eccentric and marvelous. And he doesnt think he's a celebrity? Sorry mate-you are one and a real one at that ✌
I could listen to this bloke morning, noon and night, I could also look at Suzi Perry morning, noon and night too, what a great combo, fantastic............
12 months with no MOT fails on his trucks? I freaking bet Guy is prouder of that than most of his world records...and that is why we love him, the big bloody legend :)
Guy probably could talk for hours at a time. And I could listen.
I can easily get stuck with him in a lift, this Guy has the best human persona and heart. Dude is a fooking legend!
How can you not like Guy Martin , what a bloke😎👍
Guy Martin, the most down to earth guy on TV, top man. A Guy of the old fashioned ways of just do it, get on with it and keep it real. As a fellow mechanic and person that also enjoys researching history and playing with engines, I'd love to meet him for a pint down the pub
Same here, Always loved his slightly weird down to earth way of going about things....and a pint..
знаешь, полмира захотело бы встретится с ним и просто потрепать его руку)) а в пабе - уже мечта))
Makes a change these days to see someone who's so natural instead of all these "LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME" celebrities.
He must be one of the most genuine down to earth people ever 👍
You said it mate
Talking about guy going on a holiday on a cruise ship, that would be a good idea! Sharon up in the state cabin drinking champagne and having the best time and Guy in the engine room trying to convince the engineers that he can get an extra 100 horsepower out of the turbines !!
His Mrs caryying matching luggage
Guy wheeling his snap on tool box behind him.
Guy Martin is my favorite racer of all time because he's a star who hasn't let the bullshit go to his head as it has with so many who've been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to put before the world. He's just a good person so I hope he goes as far as he can.
I don't have idols, celebrities do nothing for me and I've met a few but he is the one and only bloke I would put in the mould as an Idol/Hero.
There, I've put it in writing....
Great Guy, pun intended.
Im happy that his little girl DOT making him retiring, otherwise couldn't have been here. Love this Guy!!!
I don't know why , every time I watch his interviews I smile . he never won a tt but still he is the best
In my opinion he was always the best rider out there...and is still the best.
1: 07 .. One true Great Attitude in life ..... every step is a step towards success
I remember the time he was #2 on the TT podium and the #1 and #3 pop'd their champagne bottles like crazy, he just raised his bottle for a bit, and brought it back for his mechanics.
Think this interview was conducted before Guy was diagnosed as having Asperger's. It comes as no surprise to those with knowledge of the condition but although he says "its a load of tripe" he also acknowledges how finally knowing helps him to understand himself.
Guy is thee most genuine , funny, mechanically minded nutter in the universe. Guy came to Glasgow Hein Genriche shop for a Q&A. When asked what he liked about the German cafe racing scene he considered for a moment and the said,"Yeah, great weather, great bikes and 'alf naked birds". The entire shop disappeared into loud hilarity as Guy stood there staring at the audience trying to figure out what was so funny. THAT'S WHY WE LOVE HIM.
What a man WHAT A GUY
That's the best half doc I've ever seen.
I think he's just pleased to see her...
Met him in ireland armoy racing great bloke does exactly what it says on the tin
No makeup, no executive dress, a simple man with wisdom and will.
I have personally met him. He is a brilliant down to earth guy. Brilliant
Great Guy..you can’t get more Genuine than this..he is so humble.i enjoyed watching and listening to him more than anybody Ever ....Period..in over 45 years of tv...etc..This blokes a real Legend, although he would not agree
I think Many people would Dearly love to see him on tv Much more....
He need to create a show..series all about Engines...every type, bike cars trucks planes space rockets, every type,
He gets to fly in fast fighter jets racing trucks nascar.formular one big ship engines..trains,nasa....and create a narrative story around these vehicles, delivered in his fabulously addictive natural way...that only he can do...
I believe he's too genuine to have anything to do with nasa and "space" rockets.
@@chllnlikeavlln lol genuine really ? Are you implying that space rockets and the likes are in your bs category ?
This chap does it all without a script, just talks absolute entertaining things.
And he says he can't speak, not true.
instead of adamantium claws coming out of his hands, i imagine wrenches and ratchets
I shared pit space with guy on his 300 mph standing mile attempt in Yorkshire England 🇬🇧
He's exactly the same in as he seems here.
Chatty , friendly & wants to get the job done .
Good luck to you fella
It's great to see that being in the spotlight didn't change him.
How humble and honest is this guy. Great bloke.
What a lovely genuine lad .
the most genuine humble celebrity in UK or the world, he loves his life . great guy.
the most humble guy ever
This is my first UA-cam comment. I just can't get over how humble this guy is after hglaving done the feat he's done. Almost feels like his love for his bike is stronger than Romeo's love for Juliet. Just an insertion
Down to earth, people love down to earth people. People can associate with Guy because he is a normal top bloke.
I just discovered the Isle of Man tt race. Somehow i missed it for decades (IDIOT) . Been riding since 16 years old in 1988. Now almost 50. I got a new sport bike and i cant stop watching the videos. I may get in trouble if i don't stop watching.
honestly I'm jealous!, I come from Ireland so road racing is in our culture my da brought me to meets (kells was my first) i was 7 years old (1998) my first experience of speed on a public road blew my mind beyond belief as a pack of 2 wheeled animals came my direction, I wish I could experience that first sense of feeling all over again but at the age I'm at now to truly appreciate it, anyway glad you found God pal
Absolute legend of a guy, the crazy thing is that he thinks he is a normal guy. So down to earth and everybody loves that.it is sad thst our society crushes you if you want to be just a clear minded guy like he is, everybody loves how he is but nobody tries to be like him, it's a sad society, love you Guy, greetings from Spain.
As a fellow autistic, I recognise so much of Guys behaviour. The social awkwardness, the uncertainty of what to do when. That aside, he is so absolutely genuine and a wonderful human being.
Paul McPherson Does your being on the spectrum sometimes make it hard to recognise certain behaviours? Do you find it easier to interpret behaviour from those that are also on the spectrum? I hope you don't mind me asking btw
clive ramsbotty ask away! It’s always nice to offer insight to people. That’s a really tricky question to answer. It’s tricky because I really don’t know. I look at people and ascertain their mood, but I could be wrong or right. I can’t think of a situation where I’ve said, I think you are cross, are you? Usually people have an expectation that it’s obvious. I can tell if someone is sad if they are crying, for instance. One thing I definitely know I can’t do, is judge flirting etc from the opposite sex. I can’t grasp subtle behaviour, and flirting is very subtle. I’m often told by friends that such and such was flirting with me and I literally had no idea.
Paul McPherson - Thanks for the reply Paul, it's always nice to learn directly from someone who has experience with the subject. I'm not sure if I should or shouldn't change the way I respond to someone if I know they have autism in an attempt to better the communication... Cheers!
clive ramsbotty in my view? Be you. The worst thing that could ever happen to me is that people treat me differently because I’m autistic. I want people to treat me how they want, and ask questions along the way. That’s always the best, imo :)
@@livndays45 a label can be a very decisive thing for preconceptions,
Such a genuine working class hero
A legend in his field
Bloody well sorted...Guy brings to light the down to earth reality of proper life...before computers, and yet is right in there with that world also...doesn't miss a trick, yet speaks at a level never to be superior to anyone.
Ozzy Osbourne and Guy interviewing each other!!!! LOL
That'd be a laugh. I can understand every word from Guy sure, maybe 40% from Ozzy though. Probably I grew up close enough to Guy and with Ozzy it's na the accent but the marbles in is mouth LOL
I think Guy is on the spectrum of awesome!
He lived next door to me last year 😂
Guy has got to be the most humble celebrity on earth. I bloody love this chap.
You can tell he isn't a celebrity, because he is still so down to earth
Martin puts a smile on your face every time you see him talking, wish I could meet him before I kick the bucket
He is just so unique and he's ours. Take care of him.
bloody fearless legend.and thoroughly grounded..hats off mate.
That didn't feel like over an hour. How can you not love Guy
I´m not bloody famous … says one of the beastiest humans alive .
Such modesty in that package … plainly inspiring :)
Guy is the best human being. I wish the world had more like him!!
Such a humble guy. Yes, he is humble Guy, guys.
Quality interview and Guy being himself as always to him RESPECT.
greatest interview ever
Guy Martin proper love the man and that merlin engine wow fantastic along with the Manx TT
Man i could speak to this guy for hours he is so down to earth...
doing interview on national telly + audience , still got some dirt on hands and under nails!!! THAT!... ladies'n gents...
THAT's what i'm talking about. thats the spirit. he's livin' it! watch an learn...
Oh please shut up you naive dunderhead. What you see on his hands, THAT ladies and gents is bleedin' make-up made from oil-based charcoal cream and nail lacquer which he takes with him wherever he goes... in an old Nivea tub to be precise!
Legend in the flesh, looked at the duration of this and was thinking mmm, i'll maybe watch some of this, watched the whole thing, such an interesting man and what he has done and been through, he seemed a bit awkward with coming and going with the host.
I love listening to Guy just chat away about anything n everything, but I love it when you get video of him working on something, his concentration and skill are really something to admire.
Sir Guy Martin most certainly has a ring to it and I doubt anyone would deny him that. Maybe Prince William who rides motorbikes could have a we chat in a certain someone’s ear and make it so. As the queen a did her war service looking after vehicles there would be a lot in common to talk about.
The UK definitely has a gem of a person in Guy. In the few months I have followed him and learned of his life and accomplishments. Living in Dallas Texas, I can't tell you how proud I am to share the planet with such an incredible person!
I honestly don't think he'd accept it,... hes such a down to earth person...I find him absolutley fascinating and funny
@@archetypex65 No need for that shit Pal. You just made yourself look an idiot ...
Why would he want to be called sir . You must be a middle class clown saying sumit like that .
From across the pond, you might find it amusing to turn on the captioning. He befuddles the computers.
There's something addictive about this guys personality
he's such a down to earth fellow and one damn good motocycle racer.
A real HERO !! No human like Guy has ever existed
My favorite thing about Guy is that it takes 110% of my brain power to understand what the hell he's going on about. It's like a mental workout every time.
Such a Humble Dude, Gutted he stopped the TT but he knows best
Someone who actually deserves to be called a 'celebrity'
For those who didn't know, Guy was diagnosed (later in life) with having Aspergers. Himself and his family all said that this answers so many questions they didn't even know they wy had about Guy and his traits. Could possibly explain why he doesn't change his persona one bit regardless of the situation. He's just an utter legend, totally infectious, believable and relatable.
Hard work listening to him. Repeats hmself to much.
I'm 74 and like Anthony Hopkins was late diagnosed with Aspergers at 70.
My life finally made sense. btw Elon Musk stated he is too last month.

Guys just a regular bloke, Never change mate, your are golden mate, we never get tired of watching your videos Cheers
Bloody brilliant !
Awesome he is - i think he would be mint as a member of a TT team spannering/setting bikes up or just as a presence who has been there/seen it/done it - could bring great value to a team in that way!
Of course he would, as you said he's seen it, or done it in the TT so nothing is a surprise!!
Ask Guy a question- get an answer...unfiltered. Many thoughts are trying to get out but he just isn't able to speak quickly enough to express them all. Fantastic.
