"The USG Ishimura is an interstellar mining ship and the primary setting of the original Dead Space game. " EDIT: This is truly one of the coolest things you've written, with some of the most beautiful melodies you've written. Incredible.
I've always been a fan of Jason's approach on making music. It's always a mix of elements that none of us could really expect, which is always amazing to listen to. Luke's drumming also made up for the greatness of this song. I mean, every hit, every groove, dynamics, licks, everything is on point. Both of them are surely a pair meant to be together. Their musicality are another definition of modern metal. Everything is original. I loved every second of this song. 🤘
Shout out to Jason Richardson I seen him live last night with baby metal and Dethklok it was amazing what a great performance, Milwaukee loved Jason Richardson a perfect opening act
I saw this played in Seattle in October 2023. It hit like a series of lightning strikes. For a certain kind of person, it is meditative and transcendant. I can't tell you where exactly I went, listening to it, but I can tell you it was where I'm supposed to be.
I could never play this but I bought the GuitarPro tab just to see the genius of music theory in it. Lot of people don't realize that's another really cool thing about Jason, his composition skills. Wild.
For being one of the most technically advanced players out there, you have a really uncommon devotion to great songwriting. Such a breath of fresh air.
"Those drums felt like a very precise and practiced tumble down a steep hill. Smooth and terrifying." - My good buddy Mac. Best description I've seen yet.
You're absolutely right jason's writing style has lot of film music elements and also that kind of music we can find in games, nd he must be FF fan for sure, since the entire XV song and an interlude /segment of Thot 2.0 sounds full of a great final fantasy vibe which it makes his music even more interesting than many shredders, I think I watched him playing the arpeggio intro from FF once here on youtube if I'm not mistaken!
Luke. I am 29 and have literally watched you grow up through UA-cam well before the word alive. And to this day you inspire me beyond comprehension. Thank you.
I really love Jason's style - technically advanced, melodic and full of emotion (you can't go wrong when you are learning from the masters like John Petrucci). The drummer is amazing too
I don't know who killed it more. Both of you guys are a force of nature but I think Luke's drumming here is just incredible. Jason you are still insane. Beautiful song too, so much shred but also really heavy on melodic hooks.
Amazing melody, Ishmura is one of the best songs JR has ever written.👍 (Although I still consider the "Aviator" solo my All time favorite.😉) the 2:52 to 3:17 mark is my favorite- reminds me of Guthries "Fives and Sevens" cool tapping. This is dope!🤟
Started with one air pod in my ear. Ended up with two. I would have never expected such a beautiful master piece. Really digging this style of progressive of writing.
Jason and Luke are beyond godlike and the melodies are fucking insane! But other than them, Taylor always nails the most difficult thing in mixing this kind of genre!!! Unbelievable.
Really dig how you're incorporating your influences from VG music, which has some really underappreciated composers. JR proving yet again he is more than just another shredder
It is 1 year later and I have returned to remark on how this is probably my favorite composition by Jason (without realizing that I already did, lol). I'm always anticipating your next album or guest solo. The recent solo you did for ABR was so sick. Short and to the point- it's over so fast, yet I wonder how long it took to write and rehearse. Keep up the good work, brother!
@@JD-oy9ik yeah it's his absolute most beautiful tune imo. it makes my heart ache. to be honest retrograde is probably my second favourite- every element on that song just melds together perfectly.
DUDE! I knew this was gunna have video game/ japanese vibes when you announced it earlier! You and animals as leaders new album really made my Friday great!
B A N G E R
Never heard of that tuning

Dead Space 2 🔥
Yeah Im waiting for this nerdy mf to cover a whole anime or vg ost. Like just go full andrew wk doing gundam with it
OMG! When I read Ishimura, Dead Space was the first thing that came to mind. Assumed it was a coincidence. Dooope!
Came to see if the name was a reference. Was not disapointed.
Planet cracker
I love how Jason changes different moods throughout his songs
Surprised he hasn’t made one called “bipolar” yet. Kinda like vitalisms “bipolarity”
I’d say the song were anticipating for “bryonias” is close enough
Ishimura if that’s a dead space reference then I love Jason even more.
What's no surprise that Jason likes to play games so I'm pretty sure it's Dead space reference L o l..
@@ooferrell Well it's more so I just feel like the dead space series doesn't get enough love.
Can't wait! Been listening to upside down every day!!
Same brother!
Totally! same
Me too bro
Yep
Pretty much.
In my humble opinion this is the best song on the album. At 3:22 the melody and groove is just intoxicating.
Jason richardson and animals as leaders back to back! Next week is hype

yep. JR is such a genius guitarist and should be one of the best guitarist alive right now
His songwriting/composition on the first album is atrocious
They both compliment each other perfectly.
I agree 💯% love it!!
@@91earthlink atrocious?

Feel like a Final Fantasy soundtrack, the vibe is very cool. Congrats guys! i cant wait for the complete album!
That melody in the outro had a very FF7 vibe to it. Check out Tim Hensons latest upload. Very Final Fantasy vibe too.
Yeah the outro to upside down also really felt like a Victory fanfare from FF
I think I heard Jason say in a young guitar video that at least the tapping part middle of the song is inspired by the OG Final fantasy sound track.
That outro gave me some old school final fantasy vibes. Freaking killed it!

EVERYTHING SITS RIGHT AND TIGHT. A FUCKING MASTERPIECE!
2:52 Sevens - Guthrie Godvan inspired tapping 🥵
The 2 fast finger men are here!!! This is a banger!!!
1:50 that lick
That melody man, tells a story for sure. Congratulations! This sounds beyond incredible
Got here from another place, but this is surely where I was meant to be. Pure gold.
YES YES YES 🔥🔥🔥
Luke. I am 29 and have literally watched you grow up through UA-cam well before the word alive. And to this day you inspire me beyond comprehension. Thank you.
Jason, I've never loved music like the kind you create. But now you're my inspiration. Thank you for this breath of fresh air.
1:58 giving off Intervals vibes? The composition is out of this world
The pure musicianship taking place in this video is absolutely mind melting, thanks you guys for blessing us with this musical gold
Just saw Jason playing with All That Remains. He is unreal. Far and away my favorite guitarist. 🤘
New record gonna blow minds.
The progression of the song is so insane, had to listen a few times but yeah this is almost like, a symphony.. absolutely genius
I really like how this one actually has emotional tone, something often missing from the prog seen. Beautiful
Here we go again🔥🔥🔥
Fast Finger Man Strikes again!
This is so sick holy sh*t. I’m stoked for the other songs. I remember some of this on Instagram and the studio updates.
Just saw you open for the Babyklok tour in Nashville, awesome opening my dude!!!
I really love Jason's style - technically advanced, melodic and full of emotion (you can't go wrong when you are learning from the masters like John Petrucci). The drummer is amazing too
that ''sevens'' tapping run is so melodic
What a godly Masterpiece !
1:54 👌love it
I always find it funny when the recording studio plugs itself in the credits. It was a room with a few red lights lol.
2:50 what in the world he’s so clean with the tapping all strings riff
It’s called studio recording
Totally worth the listen and watch
I was NOT ready for this.
Damn, that was quite the treat. Thank you.
Amazing progression! The way the song opens up, the phrasing, the melodies... Such a masterpiece
That Music Man Cutlass..... pearly white goodness
That melodie at the end makes me nostalgic about a game I use to play as a kid that doesn’t even exist
I'm excited
This kills on so many levels!!! And that drum fill at 3:50....lawd jesus!
I don't know who killed it more. Both of you guys are a force of nature but I think Luke's drumming here is just incredible. Jason you are still insane. Beautiful song too, so much shred but also really heavy on melodic hooks.
These guys are good at playing their instruments
This so relaxing.... definitely out people in a good mood,, out on the loud speaker for one of my patients in the ER

Yeah that Aviator was gnarly. Well constructed, neo-classical, shreddy.
This melody hits the spot exactly
Wow!!! 💜 From Tasmania Australia
JUST ON SPOT
You will never not be my favorite guitarist
Thee Adam Gray behind the back stick toss!!! IYKYK!
So dope! The phrasing 🤌🤌🤌 The note choices 🤌🤌🤌 Amazing balance of shred and “feel”. Top notch.
There's always Peng...
And sick jams when Jason Richardson is involved.
_Isaac Clarke stomps in approval._
It's soo melodic. I love it! Luke is insane on the drums. You guys leave me speachless every time
What a monster guitar player. And dont forget the Drummer
Started with one air pod in my ear. Ended up with two. I would have never expected such a beautiful master piece. Really digging this style of progressive of writing.
same 😂😂😂
Yea, great way to check out a stereo produced track, with one headphone...
