Umm, It is pretty obvious why you can’t get gold, pests reduce farming fortune! With 7pests, that is 50% gone, so no wonder
I cleared pests often, and usually get plat without trying. I thought finnegan would make up for the downtime, but it increased competition.

I believe I lost like 20m altogether so didn't really care all that much. Although, diamonds sound like they would be better.
