I work as a grocery store cashier and some of these really applied. I'm into nail art and I always get people saying stuff about my nails because, like you, I'm just terrible at carrying a conversation with customers. Lol

Awesome video! Only feedback I’d give is that next time you should try to lower the music playing throughout the video cause it drowns your pleasant voice out. But overall, very useful!! Thank you 🙏🏿
I work at a mom and pop grocery store in my town, as a cashier. So there are similarities to working in a clothing store. The only jewelry I wear to work are earrings. And yes, comfy shoes are a given.
I’m a pretty awkward guy, but I just got a part time job at buckle, do you think it’s pretty easy to get used to being friendly and talkative with new people/ customers? Thank you hope to hear back from you. :)
Yeah it's easy to get used to! I used to be very shy around new people but working retail helped me open up. Just be confident and know that they're looking to you for help, and it's your job! :)
This video definately helped! I'm thinking of applying to work at a store sometime soon and have been a little nervous, but this helped me feel better. (:
yes it has. i love it there & it’s better then my previous job at amc! the management is great and my co workers are very helpful. there’s still some areas i need help at but i actually love it there. maybe i should make a video too lol.
Mimi Well that’s awesome! I’m sure you’ll catch on to whatever it is you need help on! Lol I just got an email that I got an interview for them in about a week from today.
It's my first day working in a video store and its GREAT. My little kid dreams of going into the adult section? I don't care about that anymore but sometimes I go back there to restock movies. Its also cool cause you have to watch a bunch of movies to work there. :>
I just started my job today at tjmaxx, I know about the dress code about not wearing blue jeans and that's pretty much all I have lol. Could you give me an idea on what to wear?
What about all the times I’m having a bad day and the associates are absolutely rude and yell at you and make you feel worse. Like at Walmart when I asked where the flower pots are and the lady started yelling. Horrible service What the heck?
Hello, again thank you for replying , gon in for my paper round today and boss has pined my name badge on me her self is she OK to do this? (she was tired of telling me to wear it) but I don't like it, you feel you got it on and I hate the colour it's pink and yellow would you wear it? Do I have to wear it I hate it? Can you reply again please.
I know your comment is a year old, but she works in the film industry! She's in charge of the financials for different projects and they change all the time!
I don't work at H&M, but at TJ Maxx I work on the sales floor and at the register. The dress code is business casual, so you just can't wear blue jeans or anything with holes in it.
Different ways for different stores! At the Gap and TJ Maxx, it was super casual and I didn't have to necessarily greet everyone that came in (sometimes it got way too busy for that). But now that I work at Francesca's, we are super focused on guest experience, so we have genuine conversation and get to know her by greeting her
Hello gon to shop to start my paper round and I got told off with in 5 minutes for not putting my badge on and she pined it on me again can she keep doing this? And she has warned me that she will give me a Discipleny can she?
@@tewsimple hi on my round now, and I have taken it off, as its PINK unk, the same as the rest of the staff wear. But she did say she will check with some house that i was wearing it but she my be fibing And can she give me a Discipleny?
Just do what your manager says! You don't want disciplinary action to be taken for something so simple as wearing a name badge. If you have any issues, take it up with her. I have no way to help you
@@tewsimple 13 year, old thanking you for your help. I HAVE now got my badge on! And I have just had 3 house thanking me by name and say its nice to put a name to the face and what a great idea having a badge on is , 1 house is going to phone my boss and tell her I was wearing my badge (could have been a test) and 2 more love the PINK badge. What do you think about that?
As a male I didn't particularly think this video was helpful, the only reason I didn't give it a thumbs down was because you've only gotten seven thumbs down in the last two years and I'd feel bad being #8.
Joel Atkins As a female who has mostly worked retail jobs with other females, I don't think it'd be appropriate for me to give tips specifically to males. These are just things I've learned over the years. Thank you ever so much for not thumbsing this down, have a great day
I wasn't looking for tips specifically for Males, I just didn't think any of these tips stood out, first tip, always smile and be polite, a given in the work force, communicate with your fellow employees, this can be deemed as unprofessional, but yes makes the day go much faster, third tip, don't wear things you love, especially rings, the reason you said don't wear rings was because you might lose them, even though you can completely come off unprofessional by being covered up with jewellery, next tip, have nice nails, and you stated this purely for the fact that when you point at stuff it'll make you uncomfortable, even though having poor nails(ten day old to be exact) is a huge problem if you're working in fashion, because if you don't good or respectable, how do you expect the customers to take your advice, next tip, if you're wearing clothing that isn't store bought, say it's a gift, that wasn't too bad, but if you get a regular customer coming in asking you the same question the next day and you continue to say it was a gift, then that causes a problem with trust, last tip, don't buy clothes from your work as you'll go broke, I understand the side of this, as you want to save money, but at the same time it's highly recommended to able to wear clothes from your own store, so if you get complimented, you can point it out on the shelves and say "Yeah I'm wearing this over here combined with this up here, and I absolutely love it", you get to use yourself as a display, that's just my opinion, I rush typed this so there will likely be a few grammar mistakes.
These are simply tips I gathered that have helped me in my retail jobs and I wanted to share them with everyone else. If you don't think they stand out, that's fine! They've helped others and that was my goal with this video
Super helpful! I start my first day at a retail job tomorrow and I appreciate the advice :3
Aw, I'm glad I could help! Good luck on your first day!! :)
+tewsimple thank you so much! :))
How did your first day go? Starting mine on Saturday lol
Watto the Toydarian well, still working retail today, 3 years later, so I guess you could say it went pretty well!! :)

I feel you on the whole chipped nail polish thing! I always get embarrassed when I'm working and my nails look like a hot mess haha
+Bailey Layne Yes! I'm so glad you understand and that wasn't a stupid tip haha :)
I just got hired by JC Penny and scared to death. Never worked retail before.
you'll do great! retail is a really good industry to start in because everything is explained for you and you have a ton of people to ask for help

I am suppose have an interview at Belks this coming Monday but I feel like I am such an introvert. I hope I do good though as a Sale Associate.
I actually work at that store, it just fucking sucks that they make you stay nearly 6 hours to close.
I worked in retail 5 years at the airport ... I met lot of people
Hey thanks for checking out my channel earlier
+Kristina Rouse Ah yes you totally get me! 4 years is a long time haha

Im really late but does the register tell you how much change to give back ??? I suck at math lmao
Yes it does!! haha you don't have to think about it
Omg seriously? and here I was so worried I'd have to do that on the fly LOL
You are so beautiful and your voice is amazing
if you are confident in lying you are good at retail sale lol

I work at The Children's Place!!! :) Loved the video!
+Kelsey Miller That's so fun! Thanks :)
i work there now!
Good tips, thank you.
thank you for watching!!
I can't do cashiering cause I don't know math
The cash register does the math for you and most people pay with cards now and days so you will be good
I’m scared to do cash register I’m about to apply for rainbow and I’m terrified of one day working the register but I need the money 😫😫
OMG !!! I just love all of your tips

tewsimple haha here in europe we have TKmax.
She's so cute! Thanks for the advice. Will keep in mind.

i just got hired at T.J. Maxx! Can you tell me what the dress code is?
Thank You!
They technically call it business casual! You can't wear blue jeans, shorts, or tank tops!
Thanks!
How did you greet customers?

I am more of a "Behind the scenes" kind of character a "roadie" if you will
I have little to no presence and often nobody notices me
i would prefer that
Ramona Andersen I would rather do that coz I don’t wanna talk/ smile all the time!
