That was a really well done video - thank you. I have a Gen 2 and have purchased a new Gen 3 unit. Was that necessary or could i just have upgraded my Gen 2 with the Gen 3 mesh router? Are the speeds where you upgrade the router only (from Gen 2 to Gen 3) as good as replacing the whole unit to Gen 3? Cheers Vance
The gen 2 dish won't connect to the gen 3 router, different connectors, so if you upgrade you must get the set. Local wifi speeds might be faster since the gen 3 has WiFi6 but my general internet speeds have been the same. Haven't had any issues since I installed the new equipment.
nice small detail sir, I hope it will help me replacing my dish. I just got my replacement upgrade from gen 2 to gen 3 I choose standard wall mount for gen 3, starlink give me free upgrade because I used long wall mount for my gen 2
I got “GPS is not valid” info from debug data, its been about 2 months and seems ok, but after last 2 weeks update it got very long time when rebooting , around 10 minutes and got slow connection So I contacted starlink and they offer replacement , since they not making gen 2 anymore, I got gen 3 replacement
@@shanesdiy is there any significant different between gen 2 and gen3 ? When using gen 2, between 5 pm - 10 pm, only got about 50Mbps , other than that time I can get around 250 Mbps
@@matomerah I haven't been doing speed tests very often over the last year so can't say with any certainty if the gen3 is faster. Over the last year or so I rarely noticed any issue with the gen2 up until it failed. The gen3 has been working great since I installed it, don't really notice that it is any faster but I only do a speed test if I'm having trouble... I have no complaints so far with the gen3, been working perfectly.
That I am not sure about and unfortunately I don't have any way to test that now since the gen3 dish won't plug into the gen2 router/nodes. Do you have a gen2 or gen3 dish?
@@MARCUSANDTIKIANDMINA What adapter are you referring to? The gen3 dish uses an RJ45 connector, the gen2 uses a proprietary connector, do they have an adapter to let you connect a gen2 dish to a gen3 router? Starlink told me I couldn't so they sent me the gen3 dish and router when my system had a problem. Also, mesh nodes are only wireless to the main router, you cannot connect them via Ethernet or is that not what you meant?
Thank you; I've watched 10 videos prior that either glossed over what I needed to know or didn't address at all.
I just got the gen 2 off amazon brand new I love it
Great video. Very helpful!

very helpful video. did you have to change subcrition fee from $50 to 120$ upgrading from gen 2 to gen 3?? thank you.
My subscription fee has been $120 for a long time. It did not change after the upgrade from gen2 to gen3.

Thank you for the comment. Did your gen2 dish fail as well? Mine was also replaced at no charge and they included the mount.

Can I use gen 3 as a mesh for gen 2 router?
