I have to say that I have been listening to Sabbath since 1970 and I am 61 now. I never got into anything that happened after Ozzy left. To me it's only Black Sabbath with Ozzy's voice. Ian Gillian, Ronnie Dio, and whoever else that Tony Iommi had singing under the name of Black Sabbath, never worked for me. Bill Ward, drummer, Geezer Butler, bass, Tony Iommi, guitar, AND OZZY, VOCALS.! Gillian and Dio, GREAT vocalists, but NOBODY EVER REPLACED OZZY. I saw the Never Say Die tour in November of 1978, and then Ozzy's exile, for me, was the end of Sabbath, until I saw Ozzy rock out for two and a half hours, in 1996, in Corpus Christi TX. Then I realized that Ozzy didn't need Sabbath as much as Sabbath needed Ozzy's voice to be Black Sabbath!
Lawrence Aransas Pass TX Ozzy actually came back to the band for their final album I believe. I can understand what you went through by the way a similar thing happened to one of my favorite 2,000s rock bands Three Days Grace.
But ronnie did a great job though
Thanks buddy I really needed to hear them again. Huge part of my life as I was growing up! Iommi changes his riffs so well that it is amazing. And Ozzie is the glue that creates the atmosphere that holds everything together.
I can see why System of a Down was inspired to do a cover. This is such a powerful and amazing song.

It doesn't matter so much if someone likes a cover more than the original. At least they heard both of them and the possibility of people coming from SOAD and being introduced to Black Sabbath was still there.
Of course it's not like the original but that doesn't necessarily make it bad. And music is subjective too.

I'm sorry for asking this folks, but it's true that these lyrics are about experiences of cocaine use. Right?For the record, I never have had any cocaine, a relative of mine has, I have yet to get him to read the lyrics and ask him for his take on this song. To be fair to the poster, SOAD sort of messed up the lyrics to this song. (It's certainly not unheard of for covers of 60s to early 70s songs to mess up lyrics.) The lyrics in the video are pretty close to the SOAD version.
